The apartment is great! And the views from Princeville are incredible. This area of Kauai (the north shore) is truly breath taking and a lot of fun--great hiking and snorkeling (the waters are calmer on this shore). The apartment is very light and bright; there's an outdoor patio with a table to eat at and lounging chairs. I stayed here on my own and felt perfectly safe. there are two bedrooms and two bathrooms (one shower), so more people could have stayed! Two couples would be perfectly happy here, for instance. There is a community pool that's really nice for a quick dip and maybe tanning, although I prefer the ocean always. The kitchen is pretty well equipped and there is a washer and drier--all modern and working. The location is also really nice in the sense that you are 12 min walk from Anini Beach (an amazing beach, esp for snorkeling) and you could walk to Foodland (15-20 min walk I think). I would recommend having a car since princeville is very near (driving distance) from some great places, like Hanalei. My one complaint is the noise here; it's not quite so isolated as it looks in the pictures because the apartment is attached to four others and is in a condo community . You can hear everything your neighbors are doing or talking about (and for some reason, while I was here, there was a couple fighting in the apartment behind, a dog barking and crying my entire stay, and kids screaming in the pool, amongst other things... It was a hard time sleeping sometimes :)). So, if you want quiet, this might not be the place. If you want a fun place, with a more than fair price and great location, then this is for you. To be fair, I visited in June, a very tourist-heavy time and I was alone. If someone were traveling in a group and in a less touristy time, perhaps it wouldn't feel so loud. I think this apt would be perfect for a small family visiting with young kids (esp with the pool) or for two couples looking fort a place to stay so they can adventure around Hawaii. I never met Catherine, but she seems really nice. I would recommend staying here, but bring ear (website hidden) you are right near a golfing range if you are into that! I'm not, but the golfing area is gorgeous.
We spent an amazing 5 days at this beautiful rental for our honeymoon. It was close to grocery and restaurants that made it convenient to cook in the well stocked kitchen. Catherine had everything we needed already stocked there. It was private and just what we needed. The only things we didn't like was that the walls were very thin to the adjoining rental, we could hear everything our neighbors were doing, so much so it almost sounded they were in our living area. Would visit again! Thanks Catherine!
Kauai is amazing and Catherine's place was clean, comfortable, and pleasant to be in. It was also in a great location, and near a lot of amazing beaches. The pool was under renovation this week but looked like it will be done soon!
The deck was a peaceful place to sit. A little condo noise, but to be expected. We stayed two nights and found it comfortable for four people.
The space was bigger than we had thought, as we had booked it for 2 people, but it sleeps 4 comfortably, 2 in the bedroom, and 2 in the loft. The only annoyance is that the apartment is very open (windows and walls are just slats) and the inner walls are very thin, which meant that we could hear our neighbors cough as if they were right in our room. We enjoyed lounging on the large balcony with a patio sofa, but (again due to the openess) our neighbors downstairs kept telling us to keep it down, even though we were just talking and it was only 10pm - Quiet hours start at 9! Maintenance crews also start trimming the bushes quite loudly early in the morning. Beware that the shower controls are reversed - for hot water, keep it turned to cold. Otherwise, had an enjoyable stay, and liked that there was a cooler, boogie board, and beach chairs in the closet, although we did not make use of all of it.
