The Space

Unwind in the woods! Our two bedroom two bathroom home is situated on 19 beautiful acres on the famous Music Mountain Road in Falls Village, Connecticut.
The first bedroom has a full sized bed and private bathroom with standup shower. The second bedroom is not furnished, however, a twin sized futon mat can be provided for the floor upon request, as pictured. Please note, there is only ONE "real" proper bed in the house, it is the full sized in the master. The interior is vintage modern, with a quirky but clean mix of treasures both inherited and collected throughout my travels.
Outdoors, the scenery is divine any time of year. You will be surrounded by nature, disconnected from the modern world, immersed in peace and quiet. Take a walk through the forest, or down the dirt road to a picturesque stream. In addition to hiking, our area is well known for fly fishing, skiing, biking, and the amazing antique stores. There is also a wide array of culture including America's Oldest Continuous Chamber Music Festival right here at Music Mountain (website hidden), Lime Rock Race Track (we have a garage with parking for one vehicle,) Infinity Music Hall, TriArts, MassMOCA, Dia:Beacon, The Wassaic Project, and Storm King are all within a reasonable drive... and New York City is just a two hour train ride away.
My kitchen and all it's contents are at your disposal! If you'd like to cook yourself breakfast you will find the fridge stocked with local eggs and essentials. Also feel free to help yourself to the giant delicious kale, or whatever else is growing in our garden. Sorry, we are a no bacon household! But "downtown" there is Toymakers Cafe and The Falls Village Inn, or you can venture out to a neighboring town for other great eats in Salisbury, Cornwall or Kent, CT, Millerton, NY, or Great Barrington, MA. The Tri-State area has a lot to offer! We hope you'll come visit!

  • Both my husband and I wish there was a 6th star to add here... This place was exactly what we were hoping for! Our lab mix "Jazz" absolutely loved the garden and the woods. Heather really made us all feel welcome, offering not only her lovely house and garden but the freshly picked flowers in every room as well as fresh vegetables(seasonal from her garden) and eggs. If you are looking for peace and quite as well as the beauty of nature, this is it! We would love to come back some day! Thank you Heather and family!

  • Heather's house is truly the way it is described. It is really a beautiful property. We stayed only for 2 days and were mostly out. We wish we had more time to enjoy yard. Would love to be back again.

  • Well, this is a complicated story. Basically, my friend and I feel we were misled by the way the ad was worded and the inputted information. First, it is NOT A TWO BEDROOM. Second, there is NO CELL SERVICE. There is no landline. Third, there are NO EXTRA LINENS. We tried to use the pullout couch as the second bed, but it was disgusting and old. There were no extra blankets or pillows. WE DIDN'T FEEL SAFE in the house since when we walked around we saw the BASEMENT DOOR WAS PROPPED CLOSED BY A LADDER. When you are in the middle of nowhere (which can be great), you want to at least feel secure in the house. We did not. We ended up leaving and STAYING AT A COMFORT INN for less money with two very comfortable double beds with lovely clean sheets and a clean and modern bathroom. The owner DID NOT WANT TO REFUND US ANY MONEY despite having not used any of the towels or sheets (and despite us not having stayed there!). I found that the worst part of all. Had she been the least bit understanding, I would have been left with a better taste in my mouth. As it is, I cannot recommend this location to anyone.

  • Heather's place is simple, but very tasteful and great for a complete getaway and disconnection from the world. The complete silence, filled with just the bird sounds in the morning was magnificent. The view from the garden was amazing, too.
We had the entire place to ourselves for the weekend, and Heather made sure that we felt welcome and had everything we needed, and even left fresh flowers for us.

I love the outdoors, and that is why I love our little house in the woods. We share it with my dog Ellie Mae, who comes with me wherever I go. We like tea and coffee, and there's always plenty around here. We grow food in the spring summer and fall. We live a simple, wood heated, life here on Music Mountain. Come visit, and get away from it all!
