This Pacific Heights location places you in the middle of it all while the lush surrounds from the park across the street and your private patio garden afford an escape from the city. A rarity in the city, the unit features garage parking (with an electric door opener). Wall-to-wall sliding glass doors in both the living room and master bedroom overlook LaFayette Park. Open the doors onto the East facing private deck and you can sit and enjoy the park views and morning sun over a cup of coffee while planning your day. The back patio receives the late afternoon sun and is a great place to enjoy a glass of wine.
With 2 spacious bedrooms and 2 full baths, the unit features high-speed wireless Internet; hardwood floors throughout; a rich Venetian plaster wall; 42" flat screen TV with blu ray and dvd player; a wet bar; an equipped granite-and-stainless chef’s kitchen with instant-on glass range and dishwasher; and central heat. The sunny master suite has a private en suite bathroom and measures a total of over 400sq ft--larger than most hotel rooms in San Francisco! The second bedroom overlooks the back patio. Both bedrooms have Queen Tempurpedic mattresses and there is a double futon that can fit on the floor in the master bedroom or in the living room. High-end cotton linens, down duvets, and fluffy towels are provided. Both baths feature recycled marble and recycled glass tiles and hair dryers. The master bath has dual shower heads (makes it easy if you are traveling with a child or a dog, whom are welcome), and an extra deep Jacuzzi tub to relax tirled muscles after a day visiting San Francisco’s many attractions. Forget something? Check the Notions Basket for razors, bandages, hair pins and the like--and feel free to add to it when your looking for extra space in your bag for your trip home!
A garage space and automatic door opener is included with the rental. The charge is $400/mo. This amount is paid directly to me prior to your arrival. Composting, recycling and coin-operated laundry facilities are all in the building. The unit is one level up from the street and there is an elevator.
Just across the street is LaFayette Park and its summit views of the Bay, Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and Angel Island. Neightbors include Danielle Steele (current owner of the gorgeous Spreckles Mansion) and the historic home once owned by Sir Aurthur Conan Doyle.

You can commute most anywhere in the city on foot or by one of several public transportation options. Walk 5 blocks North to amble past Union Streets boutiques, bars and restaurants; or head 3 blocks South to Japan Town for the freshest sushi you’ve ever had or a 10 minute chair massage; or venture 2 blocks East to Fillmore Street for your choice of 4 coffee shops, dozens of restaurants, groceries, a Saturday Farmers’ Market, and more; or journey 5 blocks West to Polk Street for cheap eats and late night bars, clubs and restaurants. Learn why it is called Pacific HEIGHTS as you climb uphill from every direction to come back to the apartment.
The No. 1 bus stops on the corner with service to downtown business district. Really want to be a tourist? Walk 4 short blocks and take the cable car down California Street right through Union Square and all the way to Market Street.

Everything is close - Located within 10 minutes' walking distance of nearly everything you can think of: dozens of restaurants, grocery stores, boutiques, parks, and services: dry cleaners, hardware stores, shoe repair, health clubs, book store, movie theatre, etc. There are 5 bus lines that travel the width and breadth of the city pass within 2 blocks of the property.

DOGS: Dogs are welcome on a case-by-case basis with a pet fee (charged by the building of $100). Dogs are permitted up to 35 pounds. If you have a slightly larger dog, please contact me before booking. Giant dogs, unfortunately, will not be permitted.

There is no smoking allowed in the unit. You may smoke on either of the patios provided you dispose of all cigarettes and butts.
There is a noise curfew in the building from 11pm-8am.
Please dispose of all garbage and recycling. A garbage shoot is on the stair landing heading towards the lobby. We also recycle and compost and appreciate your efforts to do the same. This is a green rental and as such, we provide cloth napkins and cleaning rags but no paper towels or paper napkins.
Any damage to the unit or the building's common property will be the tenant's responsibility. Any evidence of smoking in the unit will require extensive cleaning due to the owner's significant allergies!!
Before departing, please place all used bed linens and towels in a pile on the bedroom floor.
Before departing, please place all used dishes in the dishwasher and run the dishwasher prior to departure. For safety, do not run the dishwasher if you will be departing the unit within the hour.

The apartment was clean, spacious, and comfortable and in a great area. It's easily accessible by bus and walking distance to lots of shopping and dining. It's great that there is a garage as well. The park across the street is nice with tennis courts and fun to see all the happy dogs playing.
Overall a great place to stay and would stay there again.

Shan's place is in a great residential neighborhood with access to several convenient bus routes, a few blocks from a nice row of restaurants and a few blocks from a great group of coffee shops. If you're looking for somewhere more "residential" than your typical hotel neighborhood, this is the ideal spot, but be sure to check out transit maps. If you plan on hanging off a street car more than once (which, as dorky as it sounds, is quite fun), it's worth getting the day pass at $12 which also includes the bus.
The park across the street is a great backdrop and the garage parking is clutch. If you plan to rent a car, this is the way to go as most hotels will charge more than double her asking price for much less convenient parking. The garage door opener made it incredibly painless.
As you can see from the pics, the place is large. There is no trickery here, the apartment is as photographed and as described. It's only one floor up which is also convenient. The front master bedroom has a TV and both bedrooms have Tempur-Pedic mattresses which now have me regretting our recent mattress purchase at home - they're comfy!
A few restaurant tips from our experience: Toast Eatery is a great place for breakfast and is only 5 blocks away at 1601 Polk Street. Also a short walk from the apartment is Woodhouse Fish Co at 1914 Fillmore Street which was a great little place for seafood and fish. We had bad luck getting drinks in a timely manner at Harry's Bar at 2020 Fillmore Street, but that could have been the waitress.
Good size apartment in a nice block with park opposite. At first it seemed a bit far away from the main sights, however once we got the hang of the trolley bus & cable car network it was actually quite central. The 2nd bedroom was quite cramped (too much furniture). Space in general was quite tight, as the owner lives in the apartment between rentals and is using a lot of the available storage/wardrobe space.
Good location; nice to have park across the street. Garage door opens under master bedroom - can be a bit noisy early in the am!
Our family had a fantastic stay at Shan's place. The location was great right across from the park and it was pretty central as we went all around the city using this as our central base. The unit is tastefully decorated and has all the comforts of a true home away from home. We look forwarding to staying here again in the future. Thanks for a great stay!

Having spent more time than I care to remember in sterile, uninviting hotel rooms, I was initially attracted to vacation rentals as refreshing, and often more affordable, alternatives. What I found were the same white walls and beige furniture or, even worse, cluttered rooms and Aunt Edna's donated dilapidated couch in the living room. Well, welcome to something different. Take a break from your busy schedule by relaxing in clean, inviting rental that that feels enough like home that you're immediately comfortable while being so special you'll look forward to your return. Many of my guests have been back 2 or 3 times, and some have found themselves venturing across the country to check out another Red Hot Vacation Rental.
