This home is in The Rocks, Sydney’s oldest and most central neighbourhood. Stunningly beautiful, it is minutes from both the Sydney Central Business District ('CBD') and Sydney Harbour.
The apartment is spacious and very comfortable. It is close to :
- The restaurants and old pubs of The Rocks (5 mins walk)
- Harbour bridge climb (5 mins walk)
- Sydney CBD (10 mins walk)
- Circular Quay (15 mins walk)
- The Sydney Opera House (20 mins walk)
- Darling Harbour (20 mins walk)
- Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) (10 mins walk)
The apartment is spacious and on two levels. It is a lovely 100 year old building with modern bathroom and kitchen. The main living room, kitchen, courtyard and one toilet are downstairs. Upstairs are the two bedrooms, a second living room, the main bathroom and a balcony. The balcony is off the second bedroom and living room and has views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the city skyline. There is a deck off the main bed room, at the back of the building.

A Truly Spectacular Part of Sydney
The Rocks is Australia’s oldest neighbourhood, being the original location of the British penal colony. It became a thriving maritime area during the 19th and 20th Centuries. Many of the original houses, pubs and shops are still standing. These days it is a charming, leafy neighbourhood right on the doorstep of the city and all of it’s attractions, including nearby restaurants and bars. Sydney’s oldest pub, The Lord Nelson, is our local where they brew their own beer on site and serve up a great meal too. Take a stroll through the cobblestone laneways of The Rocks or up to the park in nearby Observatory Hill and take in the great view of the harbour!
It’s also a lovely spot to come home and get away for the pace of the city. Wander around the streets and try not to fall in love with this place.
If you’re not much into walking, there is a bus stop 50 metres away with regular buses to the CBD, Town Hall Station and Central Railway Station. Hailing a taxi from my front door is easy and takes no time at all for one to come past. To get to and from the airport there is the regular Airport Link train leaving from Circular Quay station or a taxi takes about 25 mins (depending on traffic).
The place will be clean and beds made up when you arrive. After that you won’t get your bed made on a daily basis or apartment cleaned while you stay. If you are staying for more than a week, we can arrange a weekly cleaner at an extra cost but you will need to request this.
Check in time is 4pm. We may be able to arrange a bag drop / check in earlier, but we need to make those arrangements well in advance. So, if the 4pm check in time isn’t your preference, please talk to me about it before you make your reservation.
If you have a baby, I can provide a portable cot for a total cost of $30 (one payment for full stay). This is additional to house rental price and you would need to advise me a few days beforehand of your requirement.
Stayed for two nights in Lachlan's home. The location was perfect for us - we have stayed in this area several times before and love it. The home was comfortable and clean and had plenty of unique character. We contacted Lachlan on our last day to see what we could organise for storage of our bags for the time before we had to leave for the airport. He organised this for us quickly and easily. Icing on the cake, really. Thoroughly enjoyed and thoroughly recommend
Wonderful! Terrific location, lovely place. Host easy to work with.
Great location, walking distance to everything. Only 10 minutes from Circular Quey. The Rocks is the perfect place to stay. The apartment is charming and we really enjoyed our stay. The owner was very easy to contact and he got back to me very quickly. This is a 2 bedroom apartment, just note that one bedroom faces Kent street and there is a bit of road noise. The Master room was very quiet. Despite a bit of noise, we loved our stay:)
Thanks to Lachlan for letting us stay at his wonderful Sydney home! Fantastic place and so conveniently located. Very clean and well maintained home. Will definitely stay again when we're back in Sydney!
An excellent place in a superb location. Minutes away from the harbour and with Bridge views from one of the verandahs, not to forget to mention the brilliant pub/brewery/restaurant (Lord Nelson) thirty seconds from your front door. We could not recommend this more highly. Just one thing to bear in mind when booking, if you are a light sleeper, the front room will not be good for you if you are early to bed - a little bit noisy - but it was not an issue for me: you're in a fabulous City so why would you be going to bed early. Thanks to Lachlan.
We stayed for 3 days in Lachlan's Apartment! Great location and very well maintained. We all enjoyed our stay. Check in and check out was fast and easy. I can highly recommend staying there. Thank you Lachlan.
What a great place! We were so lucky to find this gem in the rocks Lachlan was great and made the whole thing very easy and we would go back in a heart beat. Thank you for a great weekend :)
Great Location and very nice spacious house with comfortable beds. We didn't meet Lachlan, but the email contact with him was easy with always quick replys from his side. The instructions how to access the place were perfect. Vielen Dank Lachlan!
We had mixed feelings about this place.
The front bedroom is very noisy - suitable for people out all night - but not for people who want to have a good night's sleep.
We had the company of cockroaches downstairs crisscrossing the dining room.
The bath/shower can be pretty dangerous. I had a nasty fall getting out of it - haven't recovered yet. There should be a warning about the height of the bathtub in relation to the bathroom floor and something to hold on to for getting in and out. Take note, ye weary traveller!
On the other hand, it is within walking distance of Circular Quay, the Opera House, etc... Good restaurants around the area, too.
We loved our time here and wouldn't hesitate to book with Lachlan again if we return to Sydney. The location was superb, short walk to the bridge, the Quay, the Opera House and the Botanical Gardens.
The house is surprisingly spacious! Great sized bedrooms and an extra "office / study / library" which gave us plenty of room for four adults, a toddler and a baby. Lachlan provided a cot for the baby which made it very convenient for us. There is not a microwave in the house, which was a drawback for us with kids but we managed around it and this shouldn't cause you not to book here. The dishwasher was a definite bonus :)
Lachlan was a great host, accessible and even was able to let us check in early since luckily no one was staying there the night before. Please note this was a special accommodation for us and the flexibility may not always be possible. He left us umbrellas to use (the week we were there it was pouring rain) and when we discovered we were short a few towels he got them to us within an hour. Awesome!
