Where you’ll be

Wazuka, Kyōto-fu, Japan

Wazuka has been designated one of the most beautiful villages in Japan, and it really is! As you enter Wazuka you begin to see the river, the mountains, and tea fields everywhere. You`ll feel like you've entered another world. It will be a great retreat from the hustle and bustle you'll encounter in the bigger cities (Nara, Osaka, Kyoto) nearby.

My work: Ikuko Tea Sommelier
Fun fact: Michael Near-death on a snowy mountain
Hi! I'm from southern Kyoto, and my husband, Michael, is from the suburbs of Chicago. We have traveled the world and lived in many places over the years. Our favorite thing has been getting to know people wherever we go and sharing meals and stories together. Now, we live in a picturesque countryside village known as the Cradle of Japanese Tea, with an 800-year-old history of tea growing. Please come for a visit! Ikuko & Michael
