A very nice and cozy apartment, bright and quiet in the heart of Borne's neiberhood. The lounge and kitchen are in one room. It has a refrigerator, stove, oven and is fully equpated. The living room has a sofa - bed. The room has a double bed and wardrobe, bathroom is new and very clean. You have a small terrace where the sun arribe all day, has a window box with spices herbs. The best time to stay in it i s from September to June. In July and August it gets pretty hot, so you can enjoy on the beach. There are Internet and washing machine. You will have sheets and towels. It is a 5th without elevator with a very narrow staircase, typical of the area.
Currently I barely use it, so I'd like to share it for few days. Ideal for couples and friends. It has about 35 m2.
The neighborhood is beautiful, you have a lot of very nice shops, it's two minutes to the wonderful Citadela Park, and in ten minutes you are on the beach. There is one right next parquin in street trade. The closest subway stops are Barceloneta and Jaume I.

Miryam's apartment is in a fantastic location for food and bars in the El Borne district. Miryam was lovely and met us at the apartment even though we arrived at 22:00. The apartment was well laid out and had everything you need.
The negatives were that the drains did not smell very good and the smell sometimes spread through the apartment. The hot water was very hot, though it only lasted a few minutes before it went cold.
Good value for location and size, however loses points for bad drain smell.
Unfortunately Miryam does not understand what it means to be a host. She told me that I should not have expectations for cleanliness or a nice gesture as the apartment is not a hotel, but her home. On Airbnb, she offers 3 places and there is not one personal item in this flat, it is clearly a cheaply decorated apartment to make money with.
This would be OK, if it would have been as described and as shown in the pictures. The dining and patio tables were covered with a greasy, sticky and ugly black plastic cover. The kitchen and the bathroom were dirty, so that you do not even want to use either. Sponges, toilet brush and other cleaning utensils looked like they had not been changed in a very long time, it was disgusting. There were no flowers or the children's rocking chair as pictured, nothing nice at all. Earning over €350, she could have spent at least €5 for some clean sponges and cleaning products.
We arrived in the evening with our small child and were just happy to have made it up the dangerously narrow staircase to the 6th floor. We did not see the extent of the condition until the next morning except for the foul smell from the bathroom which opens into the bedroom. We figured it was just from not being used or chlorine cleaning supplies, but as the chlorine smell faded, it got worse.
After we decided that we could not stay in the apartment, as we did not want to even cook or shower there, we spent all day looking for another place. We notified Miryam that we would move out via Airbnb twice and left 2 phone messages, but did not hear back until the evening before our departure date. She had only one key and needed it back.
At that point she informed me that she had not had internet access or phone reception for the past 4 days, but claimed that instead she had send me text messages offering to send a cleaning lady. Unfortunely I never received a text message, as she had forgotten to dial "00" or "+" before the country code and phone number. How she got my email and why she could not have called when she was able to send text messages, she just explained with no reception?!
At the end she did not offer any kind of compromise or refund, not even for the cleaning fee and she just told me to relax. That is a great answer after you wasted a good chunk of your trip moving and trying to get a hold of your so called "host".
My experience was always very positive with my guests you can see it in all my evaluations. In almost all except for Gary, that a pity.
I am really sorry that Gary had a so bad time in my appartment but also I think he exaggerates. I want to answer to his comments, At first my place is not a hotelroom, its my workplace and its not perfect but also i think there is the meaning of airbnb, When people come to stay I put my papers in the cupboard. Sincerely i think its too much to say that its filthy. There is a professional person who cleanes the space. For me the cleanness is very important this is why I trust a professional. I consider that it was clean when I received Gary. Anyway I offered him to clean it again when he was complaining in spite that the cleaner also was pretty sure that a good job has been made. He didnt answer. I understand that he is so worried about an aseptic hospital like cleannes because he is an allergic person. I
am totally sure that the kitchen and the bathroom was completely clean. I do airbnb because persons matter to me, obviously the money helps me to pay bills. Saying that my flat is cheaply decorated just to earn some money has no meaning for me. I was leaving in this place for 5 years with these furnitures. Yes they are from IKEA and I put it in the description. Maybe next time Gary should look for an apartment decorated by VITRA. :) The cleaning products had one week of antiguity, the towels were new. For economic reasons I dont buy cleaning products each time someone comes to stay. Its the first time in one year that someone objects this. I think Gary is vengative in his comments. Durnig his stay he found everything problematic and also was closed to find a solution.
For the first time for Gary I had an uncomfortable experience doing airbnb, I think its a risk you take when you open the doors of your. But I think its worth to do because of the many interesting and nice people you can meet. Sometimes you will have a bad experience with some guess, it's life.
we had a lovely stay at Miryam's place and I would definitely recommend it to those visiting Barcelona. it is exactly as presented on airbnb. no surprises. its quite small but perfectly sufficient for three, fully equiped. the terrace was our favourite feature. we would make breakfast in the house and eat it outside. M. was very helpful and fast to respond. the place is very centrally located. it is quite a hike to the fifth floor but completely worth it.
I had a great stay at Myriam's appartment: It is perfectly situated, in El Born, close to Santa Maria del Mar. This area is really nice (makes you feel like in a village with narrow streets and plenty of nice cafe, tapas bar, cultural centrum of El Born, parco della Ciutadella, ...) + you can reach any other interesting places (including the beach) easily by foot, or metro.
The stairs were not a big deal, even if my luggage were heavy.
The appartment and ammenities are not big luxery, but everything is functionning well and the hold building and its terrace makes you really feel in holiday !! And it is also calm and quiet. I warmly recommend Myriam's place!
Lovely simply equipped and nicely situated apartment. It is not huge, but it has what you need - functioning kitchen for minor cooking, nice toilet and shower, small bedroom with a nice double bed, cosy decor and above all: the most lovely terrace, perfect for breakfasts outside and hanging out in the evening with a glass of wine.
Miryam is a very kind, approachable and friendly host who made us feel very welcome, even though we arrived quite late in the evening from the airport - and she added no extra fee for late check-in. All in all the price for this place is very reasonable for Barcelona.
It's good to mention that getting up to the apartment is a bit of a climb; the staircase is very old and narrow and each step is very steep, and it's on the 5th floor (plus mezzanine), so this apartment is not for people with bad knees. When you get up and go to that terrace it's all worth the climb :)
Overall we had a great stay at the apartment and in el Born, many great places to eat nearby and it's walking distance to pretty much anything in the city center, plus close to the metro.
I give Miryam's apartment my warmest recommendations!
We were greeted with our host and her young daughter, Sol. The terrace Apt. was fantastic , worth the climb,Moonlight, starry nites, romantic, private. Loved the laughter of the streets below, good wine and marketing nearby. Fun to mix and shop with the locals at the excellent market and Tobacco shops. We had a minor problem understanding the gas stove, which Miryam came and solved, and allowed us to have some time of friendship offering us great tips about her beautiful city of Barcelona. The Mediterranean Sea was 10 minutes away thru a neighborhood of locals blowing bubbles for children, parrots, competing with pigeons for a kind person's bread.Swimming was warm, sunsets of color, architecture was very unique. We felt it was the perfect location .Easy to get from airport to Apt. We will recommend this place to all our friends, plus it could easily house 3 people that are close. The recent discovery of the ruins is very special.Miryam and her family openly invited us into their artistic life . We will send all our friends .Eat at Tapadu on Princesa 29,friendly and tasty.Check out the graffiti and Picasso Museum in your neighborhood. Bike or stroll in parc de la Ciutadella. Basia and Alexander Sept 12/2013.
We stayed at Miryams flat for 3 nights and enjoyed it quite a bit. The terrace is quite relaxing and the the neighbourhood in Born around the Sanata Maria del Mar church is lively and cool. The downsides are - as mentioned - the stairs and that it gets noisy (expected though) in the evenings or when it rains a lot. All in all a great experience and Miryam is very responsive and flexible!
Me and my boyfriend stayed for 4nights in the apt, Thursday to Monday. Miryam met us somewhere close to her house. She walked us to her apt and showed us around. Her place is situated in a lovely area, with all necessities within walking distance. The place is perfect for a young couples, since the only adventure was the narrow stairs up her place. (5th floor) We enjoyed sitting outside on the balcony. You find yourself close to major attractions, yet the apt is super quiet. Absolutely recommended.
We stayed 13 days in Miryams flat in the start of july. The flat is as descriped by Miryam, but there is no washing machine. We both enjoyed the location of the flat in the heart of Born. The nabohood can be a bit noise at night. The flat is perfect for a couple. In july the flat gets very hot, also at night, but Miryam brought us a fan to help us. The communication with Miryam is great, and she responds quickly.
