Recently renovated apartment with great in-town locale.
(note: please inquire about discounts for stays of 4+ nights, also please shoot me a message before submitting a reservation request for one-night stays as I only accept them depending on other reservations)
This fully furnished apartment includes all you need for a comfortable stay in Vieques: beautiful four-poster queen bed with a new serta mattress (as well as an inflatable mattress and bedding for a second guest), kitchen area with all the basics, wi-fi, chairs, cooler for the beach, etc. While it doesn't have as good a view as the other two apartments in the same building, it is also the most quiet of the three.
The space is on top of the hill a few blocks from main street of Isabel II and is only a few blocks to bars, restaurants, grocery, the ferry dock, town square, etc. Views of the last Spanish colonial fort in the "new" world from the bedroom area.
This apartment is definitely a great chance to experience local life in Vieques as well as having the convenience of having everything you need within walking distance: get fantastic Puerto Rican coffee at Roy's or La Panaderia in the mornings, stroll by the beautiful cemetary in the on the way to a drink and views at Al's Mar Azul in the afternoon, and walk down to holiday festivities in the town plaza at night. The benefits of the in-town locale does come with the added noise of daily life as well as the roosters crowing in the a.m. (although that's pretty much everywhere on the island).
If I'm not in Vieques during your stay, the property manager lives nearby if a problem should arise. Also, having spent the sum of several years in Vieques, I am happy to provide advice regarding any and all aspects of the island.
2 guest maximum. Check-in/check-out is generally flexible, but when guests depart and others arrive on the same day, may require 11:00 check-out/1:00 check-in, depending on guest schedules. Guests are always able to stash their gear in the extra apartment, use that bathroom etc., if you are arriving early or are departing on a late flight or ferry.
Guests have access to anything/everything in the apt.
Interaction with Guests
I will be on the property at least through April and am happy to interact as much or as little as guests would like. I feel like I'm fairly good at reading people and tend to err on the side of privacy. But again, I'm just as happy to socialize and share what I know about the island.
What I like about the apartment: I love staying in town (which is why I bought a place here). I love waking up in the morning and being able to walk down to the Panaderia for coffee and breakfast. I love being able to walk down to the Colmado for $1 beer in the evening and being able to drink it on the walk back. I love being a few blocks from all basic goods/services in case I've forgotten something or simply want to get out of the apartment. Basically, I love the convenience and also like being part of a community, talking to locals, etc.
If you aren't renting a Jeep/Car/Moped, Publicos (taxi vans) are generally very easy to catch (except for approx. 15-45 mins after a ferry arrives) a stones throw from the apt on main street and most will take you to Playa Caracas (Red Beach) for ~$5/person and to the Sun Bay gate for $3-$4/person. Note that they won't take you to a couple of the most remote beaches.
Please respect the apartment as if it were your own. The block gets pretty quiet after dark and neighbors can hear everything as windows remain open most of the time, so please be conscientious and respectful after 9:00 or so.
And if you could be mindful of the vintage pajilla couch--don't sit on it while wet (stretches out the pajilla), etc--it would be appreciated!
No Smoking in the apartment!
Mason was very helpful and let us use all the beach equipment while we stay. His tips to get around the island and directions are much appreciated. The place was well kept and clean with everything we need.
Mason was a more than excellent host! He was knowledgeable, accommodating and an enjoyable conversationalist. It was nice that he met us in the studio we rented when we arrived. The space was as shown and clean. Frig stocked with water ann beer. We ended the stay and would definitely recommend!
The apartment was exactly as pictured and described, and so clean!
Mason was wonderful! Before our trip he was readily available to answer any questions or concerns I had. And once on the island, he gave us our privacy, but was available and accommodating anytime we needed.
In my opinion, he really went out of his way to make our stay the absolute best and easiest it could be. He even went so far as to surprise us with reservations at the best restaurant in town.
I would not hesitate a second to recommend Mason's place to family and friends.
From day one Mason was very courteous & always available. The apt is better than it looks in the picture. Is perfect for a couple. Is a 10 minute walk from the ferry and 5 from many markets and restaurants. No doubt I would stay there again.
Mason was a great host, very generous with his time and knowledge of the island. The unit was very comfortable and separate from the other units in the building. I would definitely recommend it.
Mason was an excellent host! He thought about our needs before I even did. We had 4 hrs before check-in with no place to put our bags so he offered to let us store them. He cleaned right away so we could check-in early. Super accommodating experience.
The room is as described and was clean. We enjoyed having a frig and if you need beach gear he has it there for you. The 'hood is walking distance to many places. Two I liked were Roy's Coffee and Coqui Fire. Rent a scooter and you'll be able to tour the whole island in a day.
Mason was the best host ever! Our trip to Vieques went so much smoother than it would have it we had not stayed here. Mason is very friendly and helpful, and was always available when we needed advice or anything at all. He definitely went out of his way many times to help us out. He helped us with ferry times, car rental, a snorkel to borrow when ours broke, advice on where to go on the island, chairs to borrow to make our beach time more comfortable, and I could go on and on. We loved the apartment, it was cool and spacious and very clean. Everything was as described in the ad. The neighborhood was great. It was nice to stay in a place that gave you a taste of what it is like to live on the island as a local. Had an awesome time in Vieques, would recommend to everyone to stay where we did.
