It's not in a touristy area. Laid back, beach is quiet and clean. People are very helpful and friendly. And the town is modest, yet clean. It shows a lot about the integrity of residents.
Not really, you need a car.
*No smoking inside the unit. Smoking permitted outside or on the balcony.
*This is the 2nd floor apartment of a 2 family duplex.
*There are no animals in the unit.
*There are chickens on the property beside ours, and the first floor tenant has a cat and a dog. A horse or too may be roaming in nearby open fields.
- Be respectful of the residents and community.
- No unnecessary traffic (Don't have a lot of people in and out of the unit all the time - be discreet)
- Keep loud noise etcetera at street level, no excessive noise after 9:00 PM
We had the MOST wonderful time at this casita. We loved it so much and we will be back for sure. It is a true hidden gem. Thank you Tiffany and Tony for your hospitality!!
Tiffany communicated with us quite a bit prior to the trip, providing suggestions for day trips, nearby activities, etc... Some aspects of the description were spot on - the listing is one block from the beach, it's in a real neighborhood, and Tiffany's father-in-law greeted us upon arrival.... Unfortunately, it was NOT quiet. There is an open-air bar across the street that was going strong when we arrived and kept up until 2 am, with the partiers dispersing closer to 3. It was as if a stereo was going full blast in the bedroom. We didn't sleep and found a new listing first thing the following morning. Tiffany responded to my concerns when I texted her during the night, was very apologetic, and was completely understanding when we cancelled our reservation...
Tiffany was super helpful before arrival. We were greeted by Tony, who made us feel welcome and showed us around. The apartment was great, with nice features like ceiling fans, a jet bath tub and beach chairs and umbrella to borrow. The beach is at the end of the block and their is a playground next door - perfect for my two little boys. The neighbors were all friendly and warm.
Tiffany is a caring host and made sure we had all instruction necessary to get to the village and the house. Tony who was on the first floor is most wonderful and caring man who didi everything to make us feel at home.
Location is a small village on the North Coast road. Its 6 minutes walk to a semi private beach and 30 minutes from all important sights and beaches.
House is large enough for 4 people with 2 bathrooms and well equipped kitchen.
Tony even did our laundry.
I would love to go back to Loiza and stay at Tiffany;s house again.
Thank you Tiffany and hopefully we will meet someday soon. Please give our gratitude to Tony and wish quick recovery for his wife.
And by the way great thanks to our private guard service by cutes Dog in the village who always made sure we find our way to the beach safely!
Our family of four--mom, dad and two teens-- stayed here for four nights leading up to xmas eve. We arrived having spent our first 2 nights in PR in a San Juan hotel, so our stay here was our first foray into a local boruca neighborhood and we were a bit startled. However, Tony was most welcoming and we found the apartment spacious and furnished exactly as the photos showed (aside from the barbed wire fence around the yard, which we soon discovered to be the norm in PR for many yards).
-- lighting is not provided for readers, ie., the only reading lamp was in the second bedroom, the living room had none, the master bedroom had one but not next to the bed.
--the kitchen did not have all of what we consider the basics for cooking meals, ie., missing cutting board, salad bowl, pot holders, dishpan.
--neighborhood music was so loud on 3 of our 4 nights that we found conversation a challenge. We love music but we were very frustrated to not be able to have a quiet restful evening after a day of sightseeing. I suspect (and Tony told us) this was not the norm--but was due to the combination of wkd and holidays.
--Proximity to lovely beach w/ chairs in closet for our use
--The back porch (see photos) was lovely spot to sit and read day and night (with my travel reading lamp I was lucky to have with me)
--Fans kept it cool for sleeping and we enjoyed having open windows to hear the surf and the wind. (although AC would have helped minimize overly loud music)
--Beds were very comfortable.
--Two bedrooms and 2 bathrooms gave us lots of space.
--Enjoyed Banban the dog and Alex the cat; their visits made us feel right at home.
--Tony was kind and more than willing to do a load of laundry for my daughter.
--Enjoyed the real neighborhood character
--Proximity to El Yunque, Pinones, Fajardo. Loquillo Beach
Great communication! Everything was exactly how it was described! There is a private beach 4 minutes away. The location is safe and everyone is super friendly. This is the ultimate authentic experience. Lola y Tony were the best. Tony and I bonded over the trip and I completely feel in love with Puerto Rico but especially with Tony y Lola. The unit is very clean and spacious and they take pride in their home. The morning I left, I said my good byes to Tony and Lola and both Tony and I were getting into our cars. I see Tony get out and wave to get my attention. I walked towards him and he said "Hermano, please never forget that you have a place to stay anytime you are in Puerto Rico! Que dios te bendiga hermano."
I left Puerto Rico with not only an amazing vacation but with an amazing friendship with Tony.
Muchas gracias Lola y Tony,
Nos llevare en mi corazon siempre.
Que dios los bendiga
