The Space

RECENTLY COMPLETELY REFURBISHED - JAN 2013!

Hi ... I hope I can be your host and offer a great experience staying in my city centre apartment !

I check my email constantly and endeavour to reply to all emails very promptly as I know it helps you plan ... PLEASE CONTACT ME TO CONFIRM AVAILABILITY BEFORE YOU SEND A BOOKING REQUEST ... Thanks!

This listing is for a private room with a double bed that can sleep two people. Kitchen space and living room space can be made available sometimes as a free extra but is not always guaranteed. There is access to a fridge at all times to keep your drinks cold and the room has tea and coffee making facilities. The bathroom is shared with one other bedroom.

People book through airbnb to get local information and a friendly welcome in your host's home rather than a neutral sterile apartment - I hope you will enjoy your stay in my home with myself and any other guests visiting Dublin. Dublin is a great city - ready to welcome you!

I am 4 minutes walk from the Luas (tram) Red line which is a direct link to the National Convention Centre but I am within very easy walking distance of anywhere in the city centre!

Please check the availability of each listing I offer on it's calender as they can differ ..... thanks! - its always worthwhile to message me anyway ... as I can sometimes have availability at the last minute!

If you would like any hints on what to do around Dublin or indeed in planning an itinerary around just get in touch! I also love history and have a keen interest in photography and am happy to point you towards some Dublin gems!

It's nice to know who might be coming to stay so if you can please fill me in just a little on your group and your overall travel plans!

I live in Dublin city centre in Smithfield just 10 mins walk from the heart of Dublin and it's principal 'boulevard' O'Connell Street and the cool social/bar/restaurant quarter - Temple Bar.

In addition there is a host of shops/restaurants/bars located just steps from your Dublin home from home - see the gallery of pics for some cool places at your doorstep!

I have a lot of experience in hosting people and showing people my city – I love talking about recent irish history and my apartment looks onto the Four Courts building – one of the many historical buildings in Dublin! I can leave you to your own schedule or am happy to suggest good things to do and see, both in Dublin and in the surrounding countryside and beyond .... from galleries and museums to shopping to country / historical walks – just ask – I am happy to point you in the right direction – Dublin awaits you!

There are many tourist attractions such as Jameson Distillery and National Museum, Collins Barracks along with the famous Cobblestone Bar, renowned for irish music and a good pint of Guinness, right at your doorstep! Just across Dublin's principal river, the Liffey, is St. James' Gate - home of Guinness since 1759!

Parking is available at an additional cost - I have negotiated a reduced 24 hour fee of €10 at a nearby secure carpark or you can opt for the overnight rate of €4 from (phone number hidden).

My facilities:

- free wifi,
- hairdryer,
- Dublin guidebook,
- free tourist map,
- all linen provided,
- use of electric shower,
- straight / gay friendly,
- in-room hospitality tray,
- located in the heart of Dublin,
- minutes from shops/restaurants/bars,
- reduced parking fee - nearby secure carpark,
- Maps and cycle route information provided!
- lockable room - small refundable deposit for apt keys,
- panoramic balcony view of Dublin city centre and mountains,
- discretion ...

10 minutes walk from Temple Bar, Dublin's main social scene and party area!!

If you have any questions about visiting Ireland please message me - happy to help you any way i can - wherever you end up staying! Though hopefully a little while with me!!

interested? Just send me a message ...

  • Rory was a great host. He took care of us - he organized a parking place, he told us where to get good food and the best guinness of Dublin, he gave us his expert knowledge about Dublins "must do" sightseeings. Thanks a lot! The appartment was nice, clean and good located. Although the appartment is very central you hardly hear the traffic and we had a quiet sleep. Rorys place is absolutely recommendable and we would stay there again.

  • Rory's place was the best! He is in the perfect location, and I had a wonderful stay. He was especially accommodating when my travel plans were changed at the last minute. Would definitely return and highly recommend.

  • We only stayed in Dublin one night due to a layover and Rory's place was great for that purpose. Most of the sites are located south of the river but if you're looking for somewhere away from all the sites but still within walking distance, his place works well. Rory himself was very helpful and gave us good recommendations as we shared lunch together. The bed and blankets were super comfortable but be sure to get directions on how to use the shower as it's a little tricky. I should mention that all the rooms in the apartment are listed on airbnb but there is no common space so it's mostly just a place to sleep and not a place to hang out and meet people. Dublin folk are friendly though so you'll probably end up doing that on your travels anyway. We found the city to be a lot smaller and cooler than expected so we'll probably be back as we intend to use Dublin as our gateway to Europe rather than London.

  • This was my first experience using Airbnb, and I can only hope every experience in the future is as good as this one. I stayed at Rory's for 5 nights and couldn't have asked for anything better. Rory was very helpful and knowledgable about attractions in the Dublin area. The location is about a 15 minute walk to the City Centre. The room was clean and well put together. There we were provided with converters for our chargers, extra towels, water and cups for coffee/tea and free wifi. I would definitely recommend staying here!

  • Excellent host! Stayed with Rory for 3 nights but was out at a conference most of the time. When I got there he showed me a bunch of his favorite spots in Dublin and got me oriented. Place was really nice and in a good location, especially if you like Jameson. Good value too. Definitely recommend this one,

  • Rory was an amazing host, giving us the scoop on all of Dublin before we set out. He had great recommendations and was very welcoming and friendly. We even shared a pint of guiness at a pub he recommended! Can't say enough good things about Rory. The place is located within easy walking distance of everything you'd want to see. The room is as described and accomodated our needs. The bed is decent size and the room is easy to access.

  • The apartment is centrally located - few minutes by LUAS to city centre and intercity train/ bus stations- and less than one hour from airport. Modern, spacious, well equipped and comfortable apartment. Rory is a friendly and helpfull host and a willing asset to any traveller unacquainted with the city. A good airbnb experience.
