If you're looking for a location close to the beach and Golden Gate Park, you can't do better than Carol's third floor suite. We walked around Land's End each morning, rode our bikes in the park, watched sunset on the beach, and enjoyed some of the many excellent, unpretentious restaurants on Balboa and Cabrillo. We had a view of the windmill at GG Park and a tiny bit of the ocean from our comfy, private space. Kitchen access is limited, but who wants to cook with so many great places to explore? Carol was helpful and efficient, let us park our bikes in the garage, and though we didn't see her much, communication was easy through notes and texting.
Carol welcomed me by showing me my room and was helpful in giving me some maps and information on good restaurants. Her house is very warm, with lots of wood and antique furniture. She provided some good strong coffee that helped me to wake-up, as I was in San Francisco for an intensive conference. Carol is a nice lady, but it turned out that we weren't the best fit for each other. It appeared that she is easily irritable, which created a lot of unnecessary stress for me. For example, I came home late after visiting a friend and washed my face before going to bed. I received a text from her that running the water was too loud and too late. The text was rather curt and too harsh for what was supposed to be a peaceful get-away for me. I am a mom of two little girls, and was hoping that on the off hours of my conference I'd be able to relax and enjoy life a little. Also, I am not a smoker, but when I'm away from responsibilities I like to smoke a little. I walked down the street and only had a 1/4 of a cigarette, but I do believe this upset her, so if you do even smoke a little, or have friends who smoke around you, this will irritate Carol. All in all, as nice as Carol is, the environment at her house is too particular. It wasn't the laid back place I was hoping for. Also, there are no locks on the bedroom doors, and I did feel a little unsafe with other guests staying there. There really is no ocean view, but there is a nice breeze and you can hear the sound of the sea birds. I wish I would've felt more comfortable and free at her house. And, there definitely are three flights of stairs to walk up for the private suite! If you are looking for a quiet place to stay, and go to bed early, this would be a good fit for you.
Glad guest liked house and neighborhood, as she said she very much wanted a very safe and quiet environment, when she booked.Only saw the guest at check in when she inquired about smoking policy( No smoking ) , as per listing. Showed her ocean view in room ( not panoramic, but partial). Guest seemed to like at that point. All other communication was via text.Guest hours and plans are their business, not mine. Referred her to some businesses she requested ,via text.Told guest another person checking in next day.(different room, different floor) That person checked in after she checked out. No meeting or interaction. Last night of the stay, heard water running at 2am for > 40 min.Forget about drought, was concerned that someone possibly was unconscious in shower.Texted asking if "Everything OK ?".Text back was angry.Hate to disturb anybody. Just want to make sure house is not being set on fire or flooded. Neither of which occurred with this guest, thankfully.
This was my second airbnb experience within a week, and it was as pleasant as the first one.
Carol is a great host and makes you feel really welcome at her place. The room is big, clean, the private bathroom was also wonderful and spotless.
For me, it was a great place to start exploring San Francisco, it's in a quiet neighborhood and close to the beach. There are also several bus lines nearby that will take you directly to downtown SF.
Carol is a very welcoming host! She took the time to make sure all my needs were met and I felt comfortable! I stayed at Carol's while working for a 13 weeks in SF. She was so accommodating to make room in the fridge and cupboard for food. Carol communicated well about various goings on in the neighborhood to be aware of (festivals, etc) as well as about other guests that would be staying so that it was not a surprise. Everyone I met was lovely!
The room and amenities are as described. Everything is clean and fresh! The bed is exceedingly comfortable as others have mentioned. I loved being able to keep windows open and see the ocean from my room! Location is perfect for a low key and relaxing stay - it is truly wonderful to be so close to the beach and coastal trail/lands end! Also, SO accessible to public transit that if you want to head to the bay side it is not hard, simply a time investment.
Overall a lovely place to stay if the busyness of the bay side is not for you!
Everything worked out very well. The rooms are as described and the location near ocean beach is very nice and calm. Carol is a very good host and we can only join the other commentators in saying that the place is highly to recommend!
Carol was an amazing host! She has such a beautiful home, and it is the perfect location if you are looking to have the best San Francisco experience! Everything in the home was clean and I loved feeling comfortable to access the rest of the house ( kitchen, sitting area, deck, etc.) to sit and drink a cup of coffee for tea. Although, I did spend my mornings sitting at the table in my room looking at the ocean. I loved being able to see the oven from my bed as soon as I woke up. It is a very short walk away from the ocean where I was able to watch the sunset every night, and very close to Golden Gate Park for a relaxing afternoon or a museum day. There is always plenty of parking! I felt extremely safe my entire trip walking in the neighborhood by myself. Her neighborhood is quiet, but a short drive to neighborhoods with more of a nightlife scene.
There are plenty of delicious restaurants near by that I enjoyed!
Thank you for being such an amazing host Carol! I can't wait until I can come back and stay with you again!

Carol was a great host. Everything was just as described and she gave us lots of help and information to make our stay the best. The bed was comfy, the room was spacious, the bathroom private, the house was quiet, and we used her kitchen to make our breakfast, We were very pleased.
