Our place is a delightful 1950's bungalow in central Austin's Hyde Park neighborhood. It is in a very safe neighborhood, close to bars, restaurants, transit, and 2mi from UT, 3mi from downtown. It's a perfect home base for your visit to Austin!
Hi, this ad is for one room in my three bedroom bungalow. The house is situated in the quiet Hyde Park neighborhood, and offers a comfy, laid-back vibe. We are walking distance to mass transit, a number of restaurants and coffee shops. Biking means you have a huge array of options available, as we are 3 miles from downtown Austin.
Currently, two bedrooms are available, while I stay in the back bedroom, which is not connected to the house. Because of this guests have told me they feel as if they have had the house to themselves. You have access to basically the entire house, including a living room with kitchen table and common area, kitchen, bathroom, front and back porches.
Interaction with Guests
• I've lived in Austin since 2003 and can provide great tips on how to get around in Austin.
• I've been renting on Airbnb now for almost four years. I always enjoy giving tips and pointers and love showing off my city. If time permits I often invite guests to come see me play (I am in a few bands) or to just enjoy a drink in front or out back of the house. I am self employed (as a piano technician) so am often gone daytime, but when I'm here I am happy to interact, hear about your adventures, offer tips, etc.
• Located in central, safe Hyde Park neighborhood, intersection of 48th and Red River streets. Hyde Park is a historic neighborhood, built out in the 1940's and 50's. It is populated by many families, some single young people, as well as some students, though we are 2 miles north of campus and therefore not directly in the midst of "college-mania". It is generally quiet, and very safe. Access to the rest of the city is superb, the central location is outstanding.
Two separate city bus stops close by with direct access to downtown, 6th street. 2.7 miles from the shuttle stop that runs to Circuit of the Americas (for you F1 racing fans). We are 3 miles from downtown, bikeable in fifteen minutes, or bike down there and stash your bike on the front of a CapMetro bus on the way back home. ((website hidden)) I have one bike and a bike lock available to rent for $10/day.
Other Things to Note
• Each room features one full size bed with fresh blankets, sheets, and towels (additional mattress available upon request, see "additional guests")
• Large backyard with garden, bbq pit, glass table, hang out area
• Washing machine available
• Full kitchen with pots, pans, utensils, spices
Smoking outside only, por favor.
Nick was a great host who made me feel welcome for my first airbnb experience. Django the dog is very friendly too! Nice comfortable room with airbed and a great stereo. The place is easy to get to from downtown or UT by bike or bus and in a really safe neighbourhood.
Nick is a cool dude. He was friendly and super welcoming. He has some cool pianos scattered around his place, a comfortable and private bed, and a mellow neighborhood. Will definately look him up again next stay in Austin.
Nicholas offered an enjoyable experience with his smile alone but to stay in his beautiful home was truly the icing on the cake. I found myself waking up effortlessly in the morning to brew my tea and sit outside with nature... the neighborhood is that serene that you want to experience the morning fully. However, I will say sleeping on air has completely changed my sleeping experience. Yup, that Good!
I also had the pleasure of meeting another renter (Ryan) and fond lover of tacos.
Overall, my stay was above and beyond especially with the late night talks and music playing. I truly enjoyed my stay with Nicholas, Ryan and Django.
I would love to stay here again in my next visit. :-)
Nick is a really awesome laid-back guy who was super friendly and helpful with everything I was in Austin to do. The room is basic and no-frills but that's what I was looking for -- staying here feels like crashing at a friend's place. the neighborhood is safe and quiet!
Staying with Nick was the coolest! He was so helpful and accomodating, even picked me up from my megabus terminal! His house is comfortable, full of instruments and in a really lovely area surrounded by great restaurants and bars. The bus stop was close and really easy to get to down town and South Austin. I had a really great time and would definitely stay here again
This being my first Airbnb experience, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. But after a week long's stay at Nick's cozy home, I could not have been happier with my choice. Nick is an extremely kind, friendly, and talented guy who is equally happy to let you do your own thing or show you some cool spots around town. The house is full of gorgeous pianos and one room even has a record player and fantastic stereo. The neighborhood is in the beautiful Hyde Park, a perfect location for anyone looking to see all parts of the city.
I'd encourage anyone planning a trip to Austin to put Nick's bungalow at the top of your list. Best introduction to the wonderful city I could have ever asked for.
Nick was a very friendly and conscientious host. The house was cute and the shower was great but the internet was rather slow - which wasn't the best for a working journalist! The room I was in got very cold at night but Nick didn't mind us turning up the thermostat so all in all a fine stay.

I am a piano technician and own my own piano tuning and repair business, Austin Piano Tex. I'm also an Austin Musician, playing keyboards with 4-5 bands around town. Every year I play for SXSW with at least one band.
I've lived in Austin since 2003, and at my current location since 2007. A few years back I had the opportunity to fix up the house and live here solo--I've put a lot of work into it and am really excited to share it with others. I have hosted many different kinds of folks from around the world and enjoy meeting diverse groups of people.
When I'm home I'll be mostly in the back, which is separate from the rest of the house, so it will feel like you're renting the whole house! I'm an easy-going guy and really like yoga and camping/hiking/pretty much anything outside.
My style of hosting depends on the situation. I can be involved and hanging out in a community feel, or I can be respectful and quiet. Sometimes I get busy with work and occasionally go for a day or more without seeing a guest. This is not the norm, however, and I generally enjoy meeting new people and learning what they are about.
