About This Listing
Only 3 minutes to the subway and a mere 15 minutes to downtown Boston, this location is wonderful if you want to explore the city on foot. The apartment is also on the bike path which is popular for runners as well.
The room is private with lots of light. It has a double 'full-size' bed, closet space, and a nice desk area with WIFI. We welcome visitors to use the kitchen but this would mean we would be cooking together on week nights. We are a no smoking household but enjoy fine wine anytime.
There is plenty of unrestricted street parking around. Most people get a spot right in front of the apartment. (Parking in the condo parking lot is strictly prohibited - violators will be towed.)
The apartment doesn't have A/C. The room has a ceiling fan over the bed and when the windows are open there is a nice cross breeze. Warning: with the windows open you can hear the metro. Our guests tell us that it's not a problem, but I like to tell people in case you are super light sleepers.
Kitchen is available. No access to laundry available. Coffee and tea provided.
Interaction with Guests
We leave the house between 6:30am and 7:30am on week days. We're home most afternoons by 5:00pm (17:00). We don't mind if guests want to share the kitchen. We also understand that you are on vacation and may want to stay out very late. Late arrivals do not bother us in the least.
The neighborhood of Jamaica Plain (JP) is full of unique shops and is considered the 'greenest' neighborhood of Boston because it is surrounded by parks, ponds, and paths. The Arnold Arboretum, Jamaica Pond, Southwest Corridor Park, and Franklin park are all beautiful areas to explore - all in walking distance from the apartment.
Most of our guests come straight from the airport and, because we are so close to the subway, renting a car is not necessary. The neighborhood is very safe and we love to act as guides and tell you about the best places to eat, shop, and play.
Please no smoking in the house. We are quiet folks who need to get up early for work/school. On the weekends we're very busy usually but enjoy sharing morning coffee/tea with guests and offering our ideas for how to spend the day. The house is very clean but comfortable.
We had a fun time in Boston. Patti and Javier's place is nice, clean and close to the metro. Excellent place to stay when you're in Boston!
My boyfriend and I had an exhausting itinerary - flying in from LA on a red eye and leaving late on Sunday. Patti and Javier were very accommodating and gracious hosts. The room is very peaceful and breezy, it felt like we were staying at a beach house! It is very close to the T, less than 5 minutes from Sam Adams brewery, and walking distance to Centre street. We had such a great weekend in Boston thanks to Patti and Javier. Would highly recommend them and their lovely home!
It was such a pleasure to stay with Patti and Javier. They were so welcoming. The room I stayed in was impeccably clean and comfortable. Patti and Javier's home is located in central JP, close to the T, good restaurants and coffee shops, and across the street from the Greenway.
I'll definitely be back!
My friend and I were in Boston for the long weekend and our stay with Patti and Javier was wonderful! They're a really friendly couple and seem to really enjoy hosting.
The place is the perfect location for using the public transportation system, as walking to the T stop is quick, easy, and safe. They were so gracious to accommodate for our late arrival. Although they were not there for our entire stay, and even though we spent most of the days we were there out and about in the city, they made us feel right at home.
Our stay with Patti and Javier was everything we could have asked for and more! It was our first time in Boston, first time using airbnb, and first time running the Boston marathon! I have to admit that we were a little nervous, but once we got there and saw that their place was everything they advertised it to be, we felt immediately at home. They were both extremely welcoming and helpful. Patti left a very helpful note for us that described several restaurants and places within walking distance and information on using the T. We really enjoyed our stay! Thank you Patti and Javier!
The description of the location made it very easy for me to find the place, and Patti welcomed me in a very friendly way. Their home is an apartment in an interesting housing community building, with nice common spaces. The room is the former room of their daughter, and is perfectly comfortable. There is a little bit of noise from the road and the nearby T line, but it did not bother me (I slept very well). Javier allowed me to use his bike, which was absolutely great. In short, a great experience !

About the Host, Patti And Javier
Javier and I have been living in Boston for about 15 years. We are bilingual Spanish/English and we both work full time. We are one of the founding members of JP Cohousing and we enjoy sharing our home with visitors. We have two kids, one is now in college, the other is in the 10th grade. We don't have cable TV but we do enjoy watching DVDs or catching up with Jon Stewart or SNL via the internet.
