Laugardalur (10 min walk) (Hot Spring Valley) is a major centre for sports and recreation in the capital. In Laugardalur you will find the largest outdoor thermal pool in Reykjavik, Laugardalslaug, in which you can swim all year round. It is very hard to describe the experience of tip-toeing over frozen ground in your swimsuit and immersing yourself in gorgeous water that nature (and some ingenious Icelandic geothermal engineering) has thoughtfully heated to just the right temperature, but the number of returning visitors definitely suggests it’s worth trying.
Laugardalur also has free entry to our beautiful Botanical Garden, with woods, ponds and birdlife. Beneath the branches the lovely Café Flora is a hidden gem.
The Family Park and Zoo in Laugardalur is open all year. The Zoo includes most Icelandic animals, both wild and domesticated, from foxes, reindeer and seals to cattle, horses and sheep. In summer the Family Park offers many rides and play equipment for children of all ages. Outside the summer season the Family Park remains open as a play area.
At the edge of the Laugardalur valley, not far from Laugardalur Arena, is a strangely shaped, domed white building. It is known as the Reykjavik Art Museum’s Ásmundarsafn sculpture collection. This used to be the studio of Asmundur Sveinsson (phone number hidden)), a pioneer of Icelandic sculpture. In addition to his works exhibited inside the museum, a sculpture garden outside contains many of his monumental works.
Reebok Fitness & Supermarket is 5 minute walk away from the apartment.
Cleaning service in included.

Easy to work with. I would work with Rosa again. A pleasant experience.
Rósa & Pétur are a very kind & helpful couple that showed interest in giving us travel tips during our stay (like NOT booking for a whale wacthing tour in Reykjavik BUT in Húsavik!).
We stayed with them twice: 3 days in a room (very comfy double bed but in a bit small room )& 2 days in the appartment downstairs (modern and with all you need: microwave, plasma TV, oven.) The location involves either to catch a bus (nº12) to or a 45 min. walk to the centre of the city, which for us was a bit of a put-off. The house was more o less tidy but it needed a quite deep cleaning (photos shown are not recent...)
A nice place (home) to stay with an Icelandic family .
I stayed with Rosa and Pétur for four nights. The house is easy to find just off the main coast road and scrupulously clean. The couple are friendly and go out of their way to welcome guests and make them feel at home. I had several chats with Pétur about his work and when the time came for me to leave Reykjavík, he took me and my cases to the bus station on a Sunday morning before the local buses started running, which was certainly much appreciated. Very nice and very convenient. Highly recommended.
Le système pour récupérer la clé est pratique sachant qu'on est arrivés vers 00h30 ! La chambre était propre. La maison bien située.
Very nice place to stay with warm welcoming people and lovely neighbourhood.
We can't rave about our host enough. They were absolutely amazing at every turn. Some of my favorite memories from our trip to Iceland are of our experience with them. With their guidance and info, I truly felt like I had a really original and local trip. From going to the President's house, the wonderful Viking festival, the local fav shops and restaurants, the experience of Independence Day, they helped us make it 100% memorable. I left a piece of my heart in Iceland.
They room was perfect. We ended up staying in a wonderful, centrally located house that was within walking distance to everything. The central square was literally 1.5 blocks/streets away. Despite being amazingly well located, the house remained pretty quiet, a definite bonus (and we were there over a major holiday weekend).
We even had a wonderful impromptu dinner party with our host and fellow travelers, the main course being so graciously caught by our host - amazingly flakey Icelandic fish.
When I return, I have no question where I'll be staying! Thank you for being such warm, funny, and open host. If you're ever in the States, you'll always have a place to stay. We feel like we've made some wonderful new friends.
Rosa was a great hostess. She moved me to a room at another one of her places' right in downtown. Everything was clean, comfortable, and safe. The other house guests she rented to were quite great as well - very respectful of being quiet at night but also friendly.
I had a great time :)
Rosa was a great host, really comprehensive with the fact that my flight was cancel two times due the hurricane in NY. Thanks a lot Rosa! The first night I stayed at Rosas place and it was really comfortable, the bed is huge and great to sleep in! The next two nights I took the offert of Rosa to stay at the Guest House that she has in the city center. There was great to. The house has all what you need, the room was great and it is in the middel of Reykjavik.
So people, I really recommend Rosas place, she and her husban are really nice and easy going people!
Thanks a lot Rosa!
