The apartment is in a beautiful and renovated building from 1910's, located in the heart of Helsinki, in the district of Kruununhaka. In this neighborhood you will find the presidential palace, the University, the white cathedral, and beautiful Art Nouveau architecture. It is close to the University, the sea, the botanical gardens and fifteen minutes walk from Kallio where you will find a nice market square and places to go out. You will find local supermarkets, coffee shops, bakeries, cosy bars, restaurants etc. in the street. There are bus and tram stops in the street and its only a ten minute walk to the metro station and 15 minute walk to the central station. Despite the central location of the apartment you will be able to sleep tight during the night since its windows and doors face a peaceful and quiet inner courtyard.
The apartment is between 40 and 50m2. It consists of an open space kitchen, living room and bedroom (with a futon bed). The living room has a sofa that can be made into a double bed. Furthermore, there is a desk, dining table, TV, blu-ray/dvd player etc. You enter the bedroom via a ladder to the upper room. The kitchen has a dishwasher and all the equipment you would need for cooking. The bathroom contains a washing machine and drying racks. The apartment has wireless internet and big windows letting in lots of daylight.
The apartment is ideal for two persons but can easily host four persons. Here's my take on how various amounts of people can fit it:
One person: perfect
Two persons: also perfect
Three persons: sounds like a party!
Four persons: so who gets to sleep on the futon?
Five persons or up: bring your own mattresses and remember to leave the apartment every now and then in order to avoid claustrophobia :)
Miikka's place is amazing- full of light, creative, beautiful, and well laid out. It is the perfect small apartment. The location is good- very central, with an excellent traditional Finnish restaurant just down the road. Helsinki is a very walkable city, and Miikka's flat was a great base as we explored over the weekend.
As a host, Miikka is very friendly and helpful- he was easy to liaise with about check in/check out and left a comprehensive set of instructions for the flat.
Miikkas place is just perfect, clean and bright, with lovely interior and it's good located: next to supermarkets, restaurants, a nice coffee place and close to the town. Miikka is very helpful, he gave some good tipps and he's easy-going. Lovely place, lovely guy!
Beautiful apartment in the seriously gorgeous area of Kruununhaka. As a host Miikka was perfect and made us feel very welcome! Definitely recommended!
The apartment is very nice and location is very good. It might not be huge but it has everything you might need and everything works as expected. Decoration is also very nice and lots of light come in through the windows. The building is extremely quiet and the apartment is really silent, which is great if you want to get a good night's sleep. Walking distance to the Esplanadi and great transportation (trams) located a couple of blocks away. Fantastic place for a couple or for 3/4 people if you don't mind sharing the space (the couch is comfortable when converted to bed).
A lovely place, close to the train station, shopping and dining. Good wi-fi connection, flat-screen TV, kitchen, quiet street.
The apartment is recommended for 1-4 people.
Miikka's apartment is well located just within few minute walk from the center. The apartment is small, but cosy and it has all the things that you need for a short term stay. Although we never met Miikka, he arranged everything in advance for us. He responded by e-mail quickly and helped with useful tips. I can definitely recommend Miikka's apartment.
Miikka's and Rebecca's flat is amazingly well located in Helsinki's city centre. It's on a fairly quiet residential street, yet with lots of great shops and restaurants on it, and it's close to everything you'll want to see. Plus the tram is just steps away. The flat has a high ceiling and is larger than I expected from the photos. Cozy, yes, but not cramped at all. Miikka was a delight to work with on this booking, and his mom and dad were lovely too.
