Comfy Oasis in Hip Neighborhood

House - Private room · E 9th Ave, Spokane, WA 99202, United States

The Space

Welcome!

My safe, comfy, smoke-free and alcohol-free Craftsman home is conveniently located five minutes from downtown, five minutes from Gonzaga and one block away from the heart of Spokane's hip South Perry District, home to some of the city's best food and drinks, including:

The Shop
South Perry Pizza
Casper Fry
South Perry Farmer's Market (Thursdays only)
HiCo convenience store
Lorien Natural Foods
Lantern Tap House

... and more!

You'll enjoy a super comfortable guest room upstairs on the second floor with a full size bed, four pillows, down comforter, flannel sheets in the spring, fall and winter and cool cotton linens in the summer. There is a closet, shelving and wall hooks for your belongings. It's a pretty quiet neighborhood but a small fan is also provided, mostly because I personally can't sleep without one and bring my own everywhere so I want to offer my guests the same white-noise option.

The bathroom is shared. Towels are provided but please bring your own shampoo, soap, etc. Being an independent traveler makes me a fairly hands-off host, meaning your independence and privacy are greatly respected and I hope you'll do the same. I'm a photographer and candlemaker and work in my home studio. I'm pretty quiet both day and night, and expect the same from those who stay here. You're welcome to use the kitchen's refrigerator to store food and the microwave, but no cooking allowed. A load of laundry may be done if you stay here more than a few days.

You should know right away that staying here means sharing space with a lovable, kid-friendly, social, goofball of a dog named Silas. He LOVES having guests, humans and dogs alike, so if you're traveling with a friendly, well-behaved dog -- or child -- s/he is most likely welcome here too. (Just please remember to pick up after him/her.)

Other amenities include wireless internet, easy street or driveway parking, a fenced backyard, 1/2 block from the bus stop and two minutes from I-90.

I absolutely love my house + neighborhood and bet you will too. Enjoy Spokane and happy travels!

  • Carla was a warm and gracious host. We didn't spend too much time but what we did share was easy-going and relaxed. Bed was amazingly comfy and bathroom immaculate. Having dogs around made me feel at home. Silas was laid back and Ramona was an enthusiastic greeter and all that a pup should be. Both very sweet.

  • It was nice to stay with Carla and the pups instead of spending a bunch of money on a hotel. The room was comfy and private. The neighborhood is not far from downtown. I felt very comfortable during my 4 nights there.

  • Carla was so wonderful! Kind and accommodating, I only wish I had more time to visit with her. The bed was very comfy, bathroom super neat and tidy, and her dogs were just as friendly as can be! I was travelling for work, and this was much better than a hotel!
I will definitely be back to stay with her again! The neighborhood was hip as stated, and had both a great pizza place and coffee shop!

  • I stayed in Spokane for two nights with Carla. The house is gorgeous and the dogs - Silas and puppy Ramona won my heart. Carla is awesome too! The house is easy to find, free ample parking on the street. Safe neighborhood with restaurants down the street. She is very close to downtown Spokane for more restaurants if needed.
The bedroom is right at the top of stairs, very clean. The room is very welcoming, a night light on arrival so I could see - nice touch. A note was left welcoming me, nature bars, an orange and bottles of water. The bed was very comfortable extra blankets available. Nice window with view. Very private. The shared immaculate bathroom is right across the hall.
Carla is very friendly can give advise on the city of Spokane and things to do, very knowlegable about Washington itself which for myself driving was great information.
I had a very restful and quiet stay at Carla's, i felt recharged for my long drive to Portland.
    Wonderful welcoming place to stay!

  • Big thanks to Carla & her canine crew Silas & Ramona for the great warmth of their hospitality! I had a wonderful stay and hope to return. Carla's home could not be more perfectly situated, in a quiet neighborhood with an excellent coffee shop and other good eats just a couple of blocks away and downtown Spokane a long walk or (very) short drive away. The room is perfectly cozy and comfortable, likewise the welcome. Highly recommended.

  • Carla, Silas and Ramona were the ultimate hosts. Makes me want to go back and bask in their warmth as soon as possible.

  • Carla's house is lovely and she makes it very easy and comfortable to stay. Thank you, Carla, for the very clean and quiet room. The enormous showerhead was an extra treat.

  • Carla was awesome!
Quiet house in a great neighborhood and a perfect-sized room.
Coffee shop just around the corner, and restaurants only a short bit away. Her dogs are adorable and very fun.

  • This place exceeded expectations. I was only in town very briefly, but Carla was a great host, and both the pups and the home are adorable. The bed was very comfy and welcoming. And, the neighborhood is really sweet. After all of the driving I did to get to Spokane, is was a treat to be only a short walk away from several tasty dinner options. The experience couldn't have been better!

  • I'm so glad I decided to stay with Carla instead of going to a motel! The room and bathroom were immaculately clean, the bed comfy, the towels delightfully plush...and the banana bread was a deliciously unexpected treat. Carla was an interesting and friendly host who was very open to interaction but also comfortable giving me space to "do my own thing." I enjoyed our conversations immensely! She also went out of her way to help me with some less-than-typical needs, which I really appreciated, Silas also did a fabulous job of making me feel very welcomed but never crowded...what a sweet dog! I would happily stay with Carla if my travels bring me to Spokane again in the future.
