The Space

Just 2 1/2 blocks from main square, on a level walk to town. This pretty apartment, tastefully designed by artists, is fully furnished and has lots of natural light. The interior is painted white, the apartment is based on an open floor plan, and the furnishing is folk Mexican with a personal preference for simplicity and whimsy. The apartment is within our home, but there is full privacy in a beautiful artist home setting. Come through the front entry door, and immediately, a staircase gets you up to your second storey abode.
A well equipped kitchen, featuring refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker, full sets of dishes, pots and pans, blender, toaster oven, gas stove and oven, double sink , allows for room to cook and spread out as well. Adjoining dining area seats 4 comfortably, as well as a moveable kitchen island, which when not in use, can be wheeled to one side for additional entertaining space. Well lit, comfortable living room with western and southern exposure, it features a terrace/ sunny patio with a lovely view west of town, perfect for Mexican sunsets and evenings outdoors. Cozy gas fireplace in living room, although the apartment stays warm in the winter months. Flat screen TV and DVD, and basic cable service provided. Wireless internet is also provided.

Master Bedroom has double bed, with weekly change of linens, adjoining full bathroom, with shower and tub. The bathroom has lots of natural light, from skylight (website hidden) can easily be hooked up in bedroom instead of living room.
Separate small bedroom, accessible from outdoor terrace, can be used as additional guest bedroom or studio space. There is lots of storage area, an ironing board and iron, as well as an additional closet just outside the apartment entrance. Hand washing can be hung on the clotheslines on the rooftop, accessible from the apartment entrance. Independent phone line for local calls to land lines. Wireless internet, basic cable, 1/2 day maid service included. Local laundry services provide 24 hour service, all you have to do is call and they will pick up the laundry and deliver it back to you. There are many reliable taxi services for local buzzing around, as well as airport transportation shuttle services to Leon and Queretaro airports, one and a half hours away. Local buses make getting around cheap and simple.
In five minutes, you can walk to the Jardin and historic Centro, our beautiful, historic downtown, always the hub for shopping, sightseeing, banking, marketing and sightseeing. Minutes away, you will find the rose colored Parroquia, our landmark cathedral, as well as oodles of restaurants, galleries, artisan cafes, first class hotels and more! A little bit further and you can spend time at the Biblioteca, our public library, Bellas Artes, the reknowned art school and cultural center, Teatro Angela Peralta, as well as the Saturday organic food market. Craft shops and galleries are also within easy walking distance. There is easy access to all art, language, alternative health, and cooking classes among many other numerous activities that go on daily in our lovely town. As well, there are an incredible number of volunteer programs one can get active in, participating in the city’s many social and arts based programs.
Or, enjoy the apartment as a retreat to get away form the bustle. Quiet and secure, it is the perfect location for someone interested in writing or painting, in a nice neighborhoodly corner of the downtown area.

Guest Access

The apartment is accessed through the front door to the family house and then you handily have a staircase that takes you right to the apartment door on the second floor. The apartment is private, with its own private terrace facing west with great views of San Miguel.

The Neighborhood

This is the perfect downtown location, two flat blocks to the main square, or as San Miguelenses call it, " El Jardin" in historic Centro. This is also where the iconic pink Parroquia church is. Morning, afternoon or evening, there is always something going on in the Jardin!!. Across the street is a little tienda that sells the basics , and around the corner is yet another store that sells all sorts of supermarket-y items, as well as fresh produce. Just up the street is a super new little coffee shop: walk a little further and get your bakery yummies at the Cumpanio bakery. In the other direction, at top of Huertas street, a great neighbourhood cantina " El Manantial"…super seafood, margaritas, great ambience and music. A block toward the other lovely Parque Juarez is another favourite restaurant and bar La Parada, that specialises in Peruvian ceviches. Galleries, downtown restaurants and interesting boutiques are a block away…so much to explore all within walking distance!

Getting Around

Although we are located relatively close to everything in the downtown area, you can easily hail a cab on the corner or call for one from the house telephone. There are buses available 3 1/2 blocks away that can get one up to the malls or the Tuesday market "Tianguis", always a great adventure.

House Rules

We have spent many years loving our home and town, and have cultivated a great relationship with our neighborhood. We ask the same of you, respecting the local customs, remembering that you are a guest in a warm and welcoming town. Please observe the local habits, and act responsibly. We do not allow smoking ( of any kind), and require that any noise be kept to a minimum. Please have respect for the contents of the home and the surrounding neighbors on our corner, so we can welcome you back in the future. We will hold a security / phone deposit in check form upon your arrival Upon review of the premises, we can refund you the check, in the event that there are no damages to the premises nor outstanding phone/ electric/gas bills. Utilities such as electric and gas are paid separately. Renter is responsible for keeping the utilities paid on time to avoid cut off of services. We will guide you as to where they should be paid.
We encourage you to be thrifty with water usage. Mexico can go through long periods of drought, and, as a result we are a water conservation conscious nation.

Renter will accept the rental of premises in the condition that it is found. The Owner has no control over conditions outside the rented home. This would include Church Bells, Celebrations, Parades, Fireworks, Construction or any other condition that would exist outside the rented home. Whichever the case, this does not alter the agreement. Renter shall use the premises solely for residential purposes. Owner cannot be responsible for any lost, damaged or stolen items during your stay. We cannot be responsible for any accident that you may suffer during your stay. The Renter agrees to contact the Owner at once if an infraction of the lease occurs with regard to damage and pay to Owner immediately the cost of repairs or the solution to the problem incurred. Renter will pay reasonable attorney’s fees and court costs, if any, incurred by the Owner in enforcing this contract in court or otherwise to recover costs of damages.
