Enjoy the wraparound covered porch (safety gate at the top of the stairs) and ocean view from the upstairs porch. Use the elevator to bring in luggage and groceries. The space
Are you seeing double?? Moms' Beach House is the perfect place for multi-generational families. This home features two kitchens, two living rooms, two laundry areas, 5 bedrooms and 4.5 baths.

Note: for guests desiring a smaller space, we also separately rent "The Guest Quarters" (3 bedrooms, 2 baths, occupancy 6) and "The Owners' Retreat" (2 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, elevator and chef's kitchen, occupancy 5). The two spaces have their own entrances and porches and are separated by an interior door with a deadbolt lock.

Towards the front of the home, the smaller kitchen opens into the living area, is well-equipped and has space for two cooks. We have coffee makers (drip and Keurig), blenders, plenty of dishes and kitchen tools. You are welcome to use any salt, pepper and spices you find in the cabinet and condiments from in the refrigerator. The dining table seats six comfortably, with additional seating at the bar.

The deep, covered porch faces the beach to the south and is the perfect spot for morning coffee. The porch receives morning sun but is protected on the west side from the afternoon sun. It is sunny in the winter, but shaded in the summer. There are chairs and rocking chairs and a table and benches if you care to eat al fresco.

The second kitchen towards the back of the house is a true masterpiece. With a gas stove and cooking implements for even the most discerning chef,
It opens onto the living and dining area. We have both a drip coffee maker and a French press in this second kitchen.

The large second dining table seats up to 8 people; great for accommodating your whole group. We often use one end of the table for games and jigsaw puzzles.

The comfortable living space has sofas, club chairs, a 55-inch television, and a media console with a cozy electric fireplace.

The elevator, as well as the safety features in the main level bathroom, make this home easily accessible to most visitors.

The primary bedroom on the main level has a king bed and a luxury en suite bathroom with a steam room/shower, heated tile floor, large soaking tub, heated bidet toilet seat, and grab bars around the tub, shower, and toilet for added safety.

"The Loggia Suite" on the upper floor has a queen and a twin bed, a private bathroom, semi-private loft area, and a sheltered exterior porch ("The Loggia") with an expansive ocean view. This area does not have elevator access.

Two more bedrooms feature a queen sized bed in each, and in bedroom number five you'll find a queen and a twin. There are two full bathrooms to share between these three bedrooms.

In addition to the upstairs ocean-view porch, there is a generous screen porch that extends the living area on the main level. The screen porch receives morning sun but is protected on the west side from the afternoon sun. Roll-up shades offer privacy or allow you to block the morning sun.

New for 2022, NEMA 6-50 socket for charging your electric vehicle!

Off-season, enjoy deserted beaches and marsh wildlife. Warm up in our steam room, watch movies in front of the electric fireplace and prepare a meal in the chef's kitchen.

We have beach accessories and bicycles we are happy for you to use. The space under the house includes a shower with hot water and a dressing area, porch swings, hooks for hammocks, bikes in several sizes, beach toys, and a park grill for charcoal grilling.

Just let us know if you need a Pack n Play crib (we have two), potty seat or booster seat for your toddler. We love babies and want to make their stay with us comfortable too.

We have a couple of kayaks that we may make available to responsible adult guests. We ask for a separate agreement, a commitment to safe use and care, and a fee (less than local rental companies) to offset our costs.

Guest access
The entire home is available for your use, except for a couple of locked storage areas. We ask if you use our personal supplies (band-aids from the medicine cabinet, sunscreen, or the last of the butter, sugar, or salt for example) you replace anything you use up.

Other things to note
Please provide your full name and some information about yourself and your group when you request to book. Moms' Beach House is our family vacation home and intended retirement home and we hope you understand that we are very protective of it! We are more likely to accept reservations from people who have excellent reviews from other hosts or who can provide a reference.

Neighborhood highlights

The walk to the beach takes 2-3 minutes. We have beach carts and you are welcome to use any chairs or beach toys you find under the house. On your way to the beach, peek over the fence into our neighbor's wild bird hospital. If you are lucky, you might catch a glimpse of her feeding the pelicans.

One block behind the house, take the scenic walkway over the marsh and Davis Canal. Adjacent to the walkway there is a floating dock for easy kayak access. There is much wildlife in the marsh to enjoy. Look for our favorite bird, great heron Stella, who divides her time between the marsh and the back yard of the bird hospital where she once rehabbed. We enjoy seeing her fly by sometimes when we look out our kitchen window.

Borrow our beach cruisers and explore the island. There is a great municipal park about 10 minutes by bike from the house, with a playground, basketball courts and even a skateboard facility for the kids. Several good breakfast places are within easy biking distance if you want to "work for it."

Enjoy the local businesses and restaurants in our friendly town. Reserve a climb to the top of the Oak Island Light House. Visit historic Southport, just 15 minutes away. Take the ferry from Southport across the Cape Fear River to Fort Fisher to visit the NC Aquarium or the Civil War site and museum. Visit Bald Head Island, a resort, also accessible by private ferry from Southport. No cars are allowed on Bald Head, but you can rent bikes or a golf cart, see some beautiful beaches and climb Old Baldy lighthouse.

If you visit in the winter time, you can see the sun both rise and set over the ocean!

Sea turtle nesting and hatching season runs from May to October. One of our guests and his young son were fortunate enough to happen upon a nesting sea turtle one night when they were walking on the beach. The Oak Island Sea Turtle Protection Program marks and dates turtle nests and if you are lucky, you can join some nest-sitters and cheer the hatchlings to the ocean. Two months after our guest observed the mama turtle, we sent him photos of the baby turtle tracks from the same nest.

I'm sure you can see how much we love Oak Island and Moms'. We hope you will love, enjoy and care for our little slice of paradise as much as we do.
