Jacques welcomed us at the airport and took us to his villa through the narrow roads of Bali. On our way, he shared with us a lot of information about Bali. At the villa, we met the staff who were very kind and helpful throughout our stay. The villa is truly lovely, in a calm area surrounded by rice fields. The beach is 10 minutes away by motor-bike or car, and taxis come easily by phone-call. By the way, you can ask Jacques to book for you a driver. It's very practical for groups of 5+ persons.

This is a perfect quiet retreat!! Serenely set amongst rice paddies in the countryside, and only 10 minutes by scooter to the relaxed vibes/surf atmosphere of Echo Beach, this place is amazing! Away from the hustle and bustle of Seminyak and Kuta, but near enough to everything to make it very convenient. No mosquitos in this area, which we were amazed by. The house is impeccably well maintained by Komang and his wife. Highly recommend this villa for your stay in Bali. Having a scooter available to rent for a reasonable daily rate was also very helpful and we took advantage of that several times. Jacques and Linda are very warm and welcoming and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. NOTE, cab drivers in Bali are noticeably very unknowledgeable in general about areas outside of the main tourist hubs, so take this with a grain of salt, but this place is not easy to explain to a cab driver how to get to and they often refuse to use your GPS on your phone even if you insist. It is not too far of a drive from the main areas, which is good so that it doesn't take too long once they know where they are going at least. One thing that helps, direct them towards Jalan Tiyingtutul as that is the main intersection where you drive up towards the villa. The road changes name to Jalan Veteran, but more cabbies are familiar with Jalan Tiyingtutul it seems. None have any idea where Jalan Veteran is. This is not at all a negative remark on this property as you will find this problem if you stay anywhere outside of the main hotels in Kuta, but just be aware and you'll be fine. I recommend renting a car for the day with a driver so there is no time wasted and less frustration! :-) BOOK IT!

The Good: The house and grounds are absolutely amazing. They are just as pictured. Two of us stayed at the house and we had tons of fun trying out the different places to sleep, relax, and have fun. There are three regular inside beds and two outside “day beds” scattered about the grounds plus other places to relax and socialize. It was fun staying in the little bedroom at the far end of the grounds, the upstairs gazebo, the old carved bed, and in the master bedroom. The grounds and pool are super well kept. The beds are comfortable. The bathrooms are good. It is picturesque, beautiful, quiet, interesting, and relaxing. The pool is very nice. The staff was great—very friendly and helpful. My companion and I had a wonderful time staying at the house. The house currently has a “4” rating for cleanliness. I also rated it as a 4. However, I think the house is as clean as it can be. It is an older Balinese house. Probably the best word for it is “rustic.” If you want a 5 star new hotel room, don’t stay here. If you want a beautiful, interesting, and very well maintained place, then this place is great. The Bad: Before going I expressed the importance of internet and my concern because a previous guest said it didn’t work. I was assured it was working. When I arrived it was not working and it did not work at all during our stay. This cause problems because we planned everything online and we had wanted to adjust and plan as we went along. The cell phone data service was also bad so we had to go several kilometers into town to communicate by email or internet. This also caused problems because we needed to do some work and communicate to home while we were there. We are heavy internet users and this caused many planning problems. I had stressed that privacy was very important to us. I emphasized this several times. However, there were a couple of times when we were at the house that unexpected people just showed up on the grounds. One time a pool maintenance guy came to maintain the pool without warning. I understand that the pool needs to be maintained and if we were told he was going to be there it would not been a problem. However, my companion and I were sunbathing not more than 5 minutes before he showed up and if we had still been there, it would have been a very uncomfortable situation for us. I want to emphasize that we loved staying at this place. In fact, if the internet and privacy situations weren’t a problem, this may be in my top 5 places I have ever stayed in (and I have stayed in well over a 100 places). I highly recommend this place and would be super happy to go back, but I needed to point out the problems especially because these...

Amazing place, great villa that looks over rice paddies. Not far at all from the main nightlife or cafes. Komong and his family were awesome and looked after us so well!

Jacques was extremely accommodating and picked us up at the airport before showing us around his gorgeous villa. The pool is perfect for hot days and the gazebo is great for afternoon naps, whilst the villa is located in gorgeous rice paddies and is easily accessible via road.
