  • Taman Sari House - A hidden gem. This is how I would like to describe this place.
Nyoman, Vicki, Chris, Adin and the girls who work there, are just the most amazing and accommodating people I have ever met. And I have had my fair share of travelling.
The rooms in this house are complete with everything you might need on a stay like this.
The common kitchen is fully stocked with all the amenities and the next door Warung (Cafe/Restaurnat) also caters exceptional food.
There is also a very cheap laundry service less than 50 mtrs away.
If you are looking for a relaxing local time then this is the BEST place. I would highly recommend staying here.
You meet travelers and locals alike at the Taman Sari House and get the best of everything with your stay.
If you feel like an excursion, Chris is more than happy to arrange for a driver with a car for you. Just negotiate your needs/charges with the driver.
On the odd occasion, we rented a scooter and went around on our own as well.
Nothing could beat the location of Taman Sari House.

  • The room was clean and we felt very comftable! The surround was really beautiful...
Unfortunately we hadn't had a warm welcome- actually we couldn't find it in first place and we didn't meet vVicky or Nyoman. The staff gave us the keys.
    We just communicated via email.

Response from Nyoman Parta And Vicki:

We are glad to hear you were happy with our humble room 2 and yes I agree the views are beautiful. I am sorry you felt to make negative comment about your welcome when our staff go out of their way to be kind and caring and in our description which you would have read on our listing when you were making your booking it states clearly that we are not always at the house, so please excuse us for not meeting you. You were out too exploring Ubud so even if we are staying at the house next door it is not always possible to meet the guests during a short stay. I feel its not so much about meeting your host as long as the host has provided you with everything you need for your stay.....that is the important thing .Also there is a map and a (website hidden) link on the listing on Airbnb which provide all you will need to know to get to our home, we have never had complaint about this in 2 years. We tried our best for you. Thank You

  • I stayed with Vicki's Balinese family for five weeks and had a wonderful time. Her staff are wonderful, hard-working, helpful and friendly, and Vicki and her son Chris were lovely and so welcoming. The wifi is fast, the location is lovely and quiet among the rice paddies, and the rooms are cleaned thoroughly every day. Any requests I made or small problems I had were dealt with immediately. In terms of location, Taman Sari is 2km from the main street, Jalan Raya, and about 3km from Monkey forest road. I always walked and found it totally fine - a pleasant 20 minute stroll with lots to look at on the way. If you want to get around quicker its easy to rent bicycles or motorbikes. Warung Made Becik next door has some of the best food I found in all of Ubud as well, especially the bbq duck. Oh and there is a swimming pool and launderette 2 minutes away. If I return to Ubud I would stay at Taman Sari again without a doubt. It was a great experience. Thanks Vicki! :)

  • I loved my stay in Ubud in this clean and lovely place. The neighborhood was nice and Vicky time and again went the extra mile to care for me and give advises where she could.
I felt comfortable and safe and enjoyed waking up to the frog concert (and falling asleep to it in that matter). In between those rice fields it really is like another world.
I would recommend to go to Ubud as I found it is the nicest place in Bali and a great base. The energy is good and if you are into interesting food (ayurveda, vegetarian, vegan, organic etc) yoga and variety this is the place.
Thanks again Vicky, it was great to have met you!

  • I stayed in Room 1 (ground floor) at Taman Sari Guest House and had a wonderful time. I highly recommend it. Vicki was so kind and helpful and very communicative and the staff were also helpful and friendly. I had been traveling in West Java for three weeks prior to arriving at Taman Sari and my bedroom and bathroom were the cleanest of all the places I stayed. The bedroom was very cozy and comfortable and the bathroom was quite spacious - even had a full-size tub, and I had wonderful hot showers. I couldn't imagine a better value than Taman Sari.

Jalan Tirta Tawar is a lovely road. I walked from the Ubud Village to Taman Sari once, but mostly I got a ride by ojek from whoever was willing - I usually just walked out of the front gate and asked around. Vicki helped me rent a scooter for a day, which was great, as getting transport to and from Taman Sari can add up - especially by taxi - even though it is only about 2km from the village center.

As for noise, I had just come from super noisy Jakarta, so for me, Taman Sari was very peaceful. I could not hear much traffic from my room even though it could get busy. It's possible that by the time I arrived, my ears had acclimated to the drone of motorbikes and other vehicles. Because there are many lovely plants and trees and a big covered patio, the room is not brightly lit by natural light, so I enjoyed the patio quite a bit. Beautiful and peaceful.

In the village, I had delicious meals at Atman Cafe and Clear Cafe. Outside of the village center, in Penestanan, I highly recommend Ibu Putuh's - located up the stairs by the taxi stand past Bridge's.

Also, I was traveling solo and always felt safe at Taman Sari. I highly recommend it.

Thank You so much for taking the time to give such a detailed review about Taman Sari House and Ubud. We are honoured to have had you stay with us.

  • Taman Sari house was a wonderful place to stay. We stayed in
2 different rooms (ground floor and 3rd floor) and were absolutely happy with both of them. The setting of the entire house is beautiful
and we felt pampered and so lucky to have this serene oasis to come back to after tramping around Ubud and beyond. Location is great if you don't want to rent a car or scooter -- 25 min. walk to the heart of Ubud through a really lovely neighborhood. Penny was not
in house at the time of our visit but she was very communicative by email and the staff of girls looking after the grounds were very sweet and helpful (and respectful of our privacy). Other guests were quiet but friendly ... we really couldn't have asked for a nicer experience in Ubud. Thanks Penny!

Our reward is having guests like you and knowing that you enjoyed your stay is icing on the cake for us. Thanks for your kind words regarding our house and our lovely family that help us in all we do. So happy to hear you enjoyed your stay. Bye for now Vicki/Penny :)

  • I stayed at Vicki's place for a month and I can only say lovely things about my stay. The room is clean and with a perfect terrace in front where one can have a rest with a beautiful view in the lovely Balinese garden. The staff members care much for the guests and are sweet people. Kutuh Kaja, the district, where Taman Sari House is located, has a nice surrounding for lovely walks.
Vicki is one the most sweet people I met in Bali, it was good to have her around with her good energy. She cares very much about her guests and helps to give good advices and tips.
If I come back to Ubud I am going to book Taman Sari House again, that's for sure!
Lovely thanks to Vicki and all her employees :)

Thank you my dear Gudrun for very kind review, I know it comes from your heart and its so nice for you to mention our lovely staff too. It was our absolute pleasure to share with you your time in Kutuh Kaja, such a special time and place. Until next time Tschuss !

  • Stayed here for a month, great place to stay. About 1.5 miles from the Ubud main road, takes a little less than 30 min to walk to the center of town. Never rented a scooter, very enjoyable walk. The room itself was perfect, fit all my basic needs. Most people stay there were long-term female renters, it's a great deal for the price. The staff was very accommodating and cleaned my room every morning. Quiet and peaceful. I'd stay here again. Vicki was very responsive and replied to my messages within 24 hours.
