The Space

Off the Beaten Path

Price – Convenience and Affordability

I have a bedroom available in boarding house with FREE WIFI. I will lend you house and bedroom keys.

Bedroom –

Bedroom is private, cozy, and fully furnished with a shared bathroom. The room has a comfortable full sized, IKEA platform bed with fresh comforter, sheets, and towels. Room has nice view of S.F. city lights.

House - Experience immersion in San Francisco everyday life.

The house is chic-shabby and conveniently located near the Mission, Excelsior, and Glen Park—all within walking distance from the house. It is very close to transportation, freeways and major thoroughfares. Savor the ethnic vibrancy of the neighborhood off the beaten path of San Francisco.

Master Bedroom is located in the back of the house. Additionally, there are two bedrooms with a shared separate bathroom. One of the bedrooms is occupied by a couple. The owner’s son lives downstairs in his own unit and ventures upstairs.

Food Adventures – What can I say?

Kitchen is newly renovated with granite counters. You have kitchen privileges and a kitchen cabinet with ready to make breakfast for everyday enjoyment as well as pots and pans, plates, etc. Walk 1 block to buy fresh fish, crabs, Asian fruits and vegetables from the corner Asian Market. Across the freeway, walk to Farmer’s Market on weekends. Take 14 Mission bus towards Daly City where you will find Filipino, Chinese, Latin, German restaurants and a hamburger joint in the same neighborhood.

Ethnic Diversity – An Adventure

If you want to venture further away from the house, walk 1.5 blocks to take 14 Mission, a bus line that travels from one end of the City that borders Daly City to Embarcadero which is the heart of downtown San Francisco. Take the adventurous ride on this famous bus line and visit various S.F. districts en route. Or, walk four blocks to Glen Park Bart station and take the Bart lines that travel to SF International airports as well as various Bay Area cities, locations and destinations.

  • A small room in a simple house, but with everything you really need. Close to the Bart station. There are many people living in the house, so the place is best for someone who only sleeps there and is out exploring the city during the day. Price is very good for San Francisco. I did not see Maria much but she responded to texts and was attentive to my needs.

  • Maria was a great host! She's super responsive, helpful, and was able to accommodate all of our extra requests. The house and room were perfect for us-private, secure and easily accessed from the freeway which made going into the city quick and painless. We also really enjoyed the home made baking...delicious. I'd definitely recommend Maria's home!

  • Despite the supposedly awful experiences indicated by other recent reviewers, I myself have had a wonderful time with Maria as a host! I initially needed a space for only a few months, but halfway through my reservation I decided I wanted to extend it for a whole year, which Maria was more than happy to do. The house is very nice despite being slightly unfinished due to ongoing renovations; nice tile & hardwood floors, great lighting, and all the necessary kitchen gadgets. I should also note that the renovations have not been at all disruptive. The bathrooms and kitchen are kept very clean, as she has someone clean the common areas 3 times a week – the only times they have been dirty is when another roommate would forget (or refuse) to clean up their mess! My bedroom is very nice, small but with plenty of space for me and the few things I have with me. The bed is comfortable and the closet space/shelving and included desk are very nice touches. It's also important for me to note that Maria has been very helpful in addressing small problems that arose, such as when a light fixture went out in my room, and especially when there have been issues between roommates (namely people not cleaning up after themselves or stealing another person's food). After being here for a number of months, I can say assuredly that the vast majority of the problems, when they occur, are the fault of the tenants and NOT Maria. All in all, I have been very happy with my stay and I recommend Maria's houses to anyone!

  • Cool Place to stay in SF...very close to the BART! Maria is a good and caring host! Go for it!

  • Maria and her whole family is super awesome! It is cheap, very close to BART and the general feeling of homeliness and safety :)

On multiple occasions I was offered homemade food by Maria or her parents (which btw are really cool, and very young spirited, speaking multiple languages and still working etc.) which they didn´t have to, but which made me feel very welcome and which made my day a little less expensive.

I will recommend this place to anyone, anytime, anywhere. Especially for young people not from California. Also, if you want to have an extra guest in your bedroom, she charges just 10$ extra per night. Meaning if you are a couple, or two people who don´t mind sharing a double-bed, it will be even cheaper!

  • Met Maria once when I arrived. She was very friendly! The house was pretty clean considering there were 4 other guests living there during my stay. My room was tidy and clean, and the bed was really comfy! For $35 a night, you can't go wrong with this place! It was only 10 minutes train ride away from Downtown and the train was only 5 minute walk away.
Overall, I had a pleasant stay. No complaints!

  • Everything was fine, Maria was really nice and she was present to help me, even if I don't speak English very well. It's was a nice stay and the poeple around me were really kind.

Is the place to be to stay at SF. Thank you for everytihng

  • Was staying at Maria's place for 2 1/2 weeks. Nice host, good location, and polite roommates. Sure, it's "shabby chic", but what more can you ask for in a city like SF at this rate?

    Definitely recommended! Will come again.

Hello, I have always dreamt of having such a website available to feature our houses. I am delighted that such a format exists!! I enjoy traveling and meeting new friends. I am hoping to take a break and travel the U.S. on Amtrak as soon as I get a break. Perhaps visit a few friends on the (website hidden) website.
