This has been my favorite Airbnb experience! 5 of us stayed with ample room. Phillip's house is spacious, well decorated, the beds were super comfortable, and the neighborhood was great. He left us SO many supplies, from toiletries to bottled water, wine, beer and snacks. This was really a perfect experience. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.
I highly recommend Phillip's lovely home. The house is so comfortable and Phillip did a great job making me feel welcome - including having some breakfast foods on hand, which was amazing. The neighborhood is fantastic and it's a very quick walk into downtown. I was in town for work, and it was absolutely delightful to have a nice, comfy house to return to at the end of the day instead of a hotel room.
Phillip was the man! While walking in he greeted himself to my group and I, gave us a tour of the home and ended it by letting us know he started off our weekend with a 6 pack of Shiner Boch (its everywhere in TX!). He also left juice and bagels for the morning. It's the perfect size for 6 people, two people in each bed, and one person per coach, he also provides a blow up mattress, so it can be good for 7. The location is perfect, its about a 15 minute walk to downtown. Close enough for a trek or a cheap uber ride, but far enough to make it feel like you're an Austinite! Phillip also let us do our own thing and never interrupted, but that's not to say he wasn't there if we needed him to be. I accidentally called him and hung up really quick and within a few minutes he called right back, so it was nice knowing that he would not leave us hanging if anything happened. His art work is amazing, definitely gives a warm feeling to the home. He also has a print out on the fridge of everything nearby that you might need for your stay (nearest market, bus stop, favorite restaurant). Phillip was the real MVP of the weekend!
Lovely house in austin, phillip was a great host, received us at the time most appropiate time for us, left us water and essential things..
Would highly recommend him and his place
The house was very charming and close to downtown. The homeowner is an amazing artist and his house is full of his beautiful paintings. He went out of his way to leave us breakfast foods and water. He was easy to communicate with and overall our stay was great.
Phillip is a very kind person, the house is really lovely and clean in wonderful place close to the downtown. We really felt like at home!
Absolutly high recommend to any airbnb host.
What a fantastic host! Highly recommend Phillip. Lovely, clean two bedroom home in a quiet and safe Austin neighborhood close to downtown. On top of that Phillip left us breakfast in the fridge, water, beers, bottle of wine - which saved us having to run out to buy things! Full set of toiletries in the bathroom, along with towels.. Phillip also gave us a ride into downtown in the mornings.
About the Host, Phillip
I have been painting and teaching in Austin for the last thirty years, twenty at my present home in downtown Austin. My website is (website hidden) to see my work.
Before that I was in art school in Philadelphia, and in Northern New Jersey before that. In the seventies and eighties I spent a lot of time at my mom's home in Cornwall, painting landscapes and the children's book subjects like Simple Simon that I'm known for.
I love travellng back to London (went to Royal Wedding last year) and the East Coast.
Biking, reading and live theatre are my favorite pastimes.
As a guest, I leave the place as clean as I found it. As a host, I'm constantly worried that things won't be perfect for my guests.
