Beautiful room in excellent neighborhood, central and in walking distance of biggest park in Brooklyn and all subways. Lots of tasty restaurants nearby The house has skylights, sunny terrasse, garden very green, Park Slope close to Barclays Center. This is a communal home, filled with a warm, friendly and mindful Brooklynites. Some rules and guidelines to follow but nothing inconveniencing and lots of perks and amenities to enjoy.

The space

The space is and feels like a home, it is also very quiet which is a big plus in New York City. The house is divided into two, two story apartments. We are all friends and this is the opportunity for you to meet some great people. We have a deck upstairs with a barbecue and laundry in the house.
Roommates (though some may be gone during the holidays) will often cook and share food. It is not rare to come home and find some baked goods on the kitchen table for grabs. It is just a lovely space.

Guest access

Guest have access to top apartment of the house, living room, kitchen, laundry and bathrooms.

Interaction with guests

Guests are friendly and love community. We have occasional meals together, go out, play boardgames, watch movies, etc...
They are often out traveling during the holidays but you can usually find someone to hang out and have a pleasant conversation with.

Other things to note

We have a lots of plants that we grow.

Ben's place was fantastic! The room was available while he was out of the country - so communication prior to the arrival was mildly frustrating as he reached out to me, but, when I called or emailed back, I never received a response. With that being said, shortly before my arrival, I was put in touch with one of Ben's roommates, Dorna. Unfortunately, when I arrived, Dorna was on her way out, so my meet and greet was done by another roommate (I believe their name was Lindsey?). They weren't particularly thorough and, only after running into Dorna the next morning, was I given an in-depth briefing on the house rules - which was very necessary as there were quite a number of guidelines I needed to follow. Additionally, apparently there is a (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Docs file with all the house rules in them, which would have been nice to have prior to arrival (possibly in the "House Rules" section of the listing?). The only other issue I experience was minor - the section of the fridge that is "Ben's" slowly filled up with other roommates food during my stay; leaving little room for the few things I needed to keep cool. With all of that being said, the location is fantastic; right on the border of Park Slope and Prospect Heights, it is only a few blocks to the 2/3 and there are plenty of restaurants and bars in the vicinity. Further, it's less then a 10 minute walk to Barclay's Center and the mall; which was immensely convenient. The room was very comfortable. Access to the house was super easy and I was free to come and go as needed. I had to leave a little earlier then expected on my final day, so I texted Dorna to let her know I had left and that the keys were on Ben's dresser. I never received a thank you reply...or even confirmation she had gotten my (URL HIDDEN) I hope there was nothing further I needed to do. Outside of the deficiencies in communication and the need to remember all of the house rules (especially in regard to what gets recycled where, what pans and pots are vegan or non-vegan, and which pronouns to use for which roommates), the room could not have been more comfortable, the roommates more friendly, or the location more convenient. Will definitely stay again now that I've learned all the details.

Very cool place and very hip neighborhood. Plenty of places to go out in the vicinity. The house itself is also cool - there are 12 roommates sharing the house - a beautiful 4 story house, with a gorgeous kitchen, balcony, giving room etc. The roommates are all really considerate of each other and once a week meet for a communal meal.

Ben was a great host. His roommates are very cool. His room is comfortable and there is A/C. The neighborhood is very safe and enjoyable. There is a cat but he does not enter in the room which is very cool ! I'm very glad of this apartment.
