Open loft space, about 800 square feet in a loft-style condo complex. Clean, contemporary lines with open industrial ceiling. Lots of natural light from huge windows, and a wrap-around balcony. Full kitchen, nice bathroom, artistically decorated. The unit is on the second floor, and very secure locked building with an intercom entry system. Covered parking inside the gate, with street parking available as well.
Multi-use development with businesses on the ground floor street side, including a fabulous coffee house. Neighbors include photographers, artists, sculptors, screenwriters, film directors and more. This is an extremely artsy place on the very creative East side of Austin. The place has 6 buildings, all around a very large interior courtyard with lots of green space, a covered pavilion, common areas and an organic garden.
The bed is queen-sized, and in the living room I have a European convertible sofa that folds out flat to a bed, making two separate twin beds or one double size bed. My place is best for two people, but can accommodate three (not a lot of privacy though, as it's all open). This is not really suitable for small children, but a baby or older children are welcome. I do have a grandson and there are some toys here.
All in all, a cool urban loft in the most happening part of Austin, where you can walk to lots of things and get downtown very easily.
Guests have access to the unit, covered secure parking space, courtyard and public common spaces.
As much as you need! Or very little! Up to you and your needs.
East Austin is THE place to be in the city, which has been consistently named one of the top cities in the U.S. to live or visit in recent years. The area has become a hotbed of creativity and entrepreneurship. Just a little ways down the street you find all the awesomeness that East Austin has to offer - the hottest, hippest cocktail lounges, restaurants, pubs and trailer food courts.
There is a LOT within walking distance here. John Mueller's barbeque, one of the best in Austin, is right across the street. Hot Mama's coffee house is in my complex, in the next building. Many bars, restaurants, coffee houses, etc are within the surrounding blocks. This is the hippest stretch of East Austin, stretching along famed 6th Street east of downtown. Easy access to Zilker Park, ACL and SXSW Festivals, Circuit of the Americas Formula 1 racetrack and more.
Some of the top Austin spots are within blocks on 6th Street, including QUI Restaurant (by famed celebrity chef Paul Qui), Qui's food trailers East Side King, Whisler's, Hotel Vegas, Tamale House, Hi Hat Public House, and many more. HEB grocery store is two blocks away. On Sundays there is a farmers market at the light rail station, 5 blocks away.
Austin is a great town with lots to do. It's home to the ACL Music Festival in September and the SXSW Music & Film Festival held in March. Austin has been featured in several magazines and travel books:

The terrain is like northern California - hills and lakes surrounding the city, very beautiful. It's a mecca for musicians and artists. Also lots of lake activities, boating, hiking and jogging trails in the hills and around the lakes, etc. There are also wonderful day trips to wineries nearby. San Antonio is 1-1/2 hours away, and very nice with the riverwalk and a lot of history. It is an easy 2-1/2 hour drive to both Houston and Dallas.
It is 1.2 miles to downtown, an easy walk or bike ride. A B-cycle bike rental station is right outside my front door, with stations all over the eastside and downtown - a great way to get around! There is also a light rail train about 5 blocks away that goes straight to the convention center, about a 3 minute ride. You can get downtown via the public buses with CapMetro, light rail, Car2Go, walking or riding the bike, or a taxi - all very easily.

My deposit is fully refundable based on no damages or cleaning required; leaving it in the condition you found it in. The pet will not be here when guests are here; just wanted to disclose that pets do live here in case someone has strong allergies. It's all concrete floors though. However, if a potential renter is interested in also pet-sitting my cat while here (easy to take care of), I would be open to negotiating a discount!
Shelley was very welcoming, and her house was well-kept and in a very convenient location. There's a B-Cycle station right across the street, and a cafe just a couple doors down. It's about a 30 minute walk to downtown, and there are lots of great restaurants and bars along 6th Street in East Austin, so you'll have plenty to keep you entertained.
Shelley was traveling during my stay so I did not get to meet her, but she was very responsive over email and gave very thorough and simple instructions. I took care of her cat Sebastian, who was a delight. Great location and a nice bike ride to everything downtown. Definitely recommend staying here. Thanks for everything Shelley!
This loft is located in a very convenient location in Austin. The neighbors are really nice. It's a quiet and serene space. Very comfortable and furnished very boho chic! Shelley was quick to reply if I had any questions or concerns. If you opt to care for her cat, he is a wonderful companion...very friendly and fun.
I was sad to leave. That's how nice the host is, how high the quality of the rental is, and how quiet and safe the environment is. The host has a quality and spacious unit with magazine-quality interior design. I'd live there. And I did for a short ten days and had a great time. Thank you so much.
We had a wonderful time at Shelley's place. Very easy to get downtown on the bus line right outside her front door. Shelley is a gracious host! We will be back!
Shelley has a fantastic loft right on the bus line - so it's easy to take public transportation into downtown Austin.
great experience, easy to work with and everything went really smoothly! great location and cute house!!!

I love yoga, indie movies, wine, and books, though not necessarily in that order. I believe in karma. Mean people suck. If I could have any dream job I would like to be a superhero.
