The space
Thank you for your interest in our unique historic barge moored on the River Thames. Please message us to enquire about availability and if you have any questions about staying onboard before booking.

Staying aboard you will have exclusive use of the forward converted hold with open plan living / kitchen / diner, bedroom, bath & WC.

The living space has DVD player and stereo. WiFi is also included throughout the barge. The space is heated by a clean burning oil stove and supplementary electric radiators if needed.

The compact galley is stocked with complementary tea and coffee. There is a three burner gas hob, an excellent combination microwave and conventional oven, small electric kettle, toaster and refrigerator with a small freezer.

The separate bedroom has a king-size bed fitted with quality linens, a full length mirror and hair-dryer. An iron and ironing board are available. We have a collection of books that you are welcome to use during your stay and several London guides and maps.

The enclosed large bath with shower attachment is off the living room. Cotton bath sheets and hand towels with complementary toiletries are provided. The separate WC has a hand basin and shaving mirror.

Access to the moorings is via a fob controlled security gate, which we will give you upon arrival. You will need to cross over the gap between the pontoon and barge. The moorings is on the tidal Thames and so the barge does move significantly with the river traffic as it passes. This is usually more noticeable in the afternoon. Your hosts have an self contained cabin in the aft section of the barge and so will be available to check you in, and to answer questions and provide assistance if required.

The barge is ten minutes walk from Tower Hill Underground and Wapping Overground stations. Wapping also has bike hire stands and is a good place to pick up taxis.

Wapping is a quiet, safe residential neighbourhood with excellent local pub, Italian and fish restaurants. St Katherine Dock has a good selection of bars and restaurants, including one of the best reviewed new tapas bars, and coffee shops. There is a Waitrose supermarket within five minutes' walk. It is also on the edge of the City and within easy walk of The Tower of London.

The houseboat is comfortable and perfectly located for any visitor.

Please drop us an email with some details about yourself, your visit and suggested dates together with any questions and we will get right back to you.

Where you’ll be

London, United Kingdom

Wapping is one on London's hidden secret neighbourhood. Centrally located but with a village feel. Walking along the quiet cobbled street at dusk past the converted warehousing and historic buildings is a magic experience and then dipping into one of the historic pubs for a drink - heaven!

To the west is St Katherine Dock which by contrast is the gateway to the city with modern bars and restaurants to suit all budgets as tastes!

Hi there Paul here - my four favorite things are barges, the Thames, London and architecture. I am very lucky that I can enjoy all of these and can now share them with visitors via airbnb. Four random selections from our collection aboard: CDs: Bach Cantatas, Eva Cassidy, Gipsy Kings, Massive Attack DVDs: Sunrise, When Harry Met Sally, Of Gods and Men, The Birds Vinyl: Stevie Nicks, Jim Reeves, Purcell, Lalo Books: Simon Raven, PG Woodhouse, Rem Koolhaus A keen amateur cook, I look forward to welcoming guests with a few treats. Travel for me is simple but comfortable - I take a lot of things with me to make life a little better (notorious for taking bentos on planes and refusing all provided in-flight food, much to delight of flight crew!). My favourite place to stay is Therme Vals designed by Peter Zumthor. I try to make regular pilgrimages to this shrine of food, architecture and relaxation - perfect in every way! I am passionate about sharing London and Maxime (our barge) with visitors and giving a unique insight into hidden London and life on the water. Look forward to welcoming you aboard. Paul
