About this listing

The space

Our house is an all Redwood cabin set in the Redwoods of Ben Lomond. The property is on the San Lorenzo River with a nice view of the water. The cabin is fully functional and clean with four bedrooms, two bathrooms and a nice kitchen. There is a wood stove to heat the cabin and a couple of floor heaters to help out when its really cold. Lots of firewood available on the property. One of the bedrooms is a dorm of sorts that is great for your kids to bring along their friends. The place will sleep 4-10 depending on your family/friend configuration. The inside is all redwood -- walls, floors and the ceiling. The house is also surrounded by redwood decking, providing lots of space both inside and outside the home. There is even a horseshoe pit outside.

The location is near both Felton and Ben Lomond. Its about 15 minutes from downtown Santa Cruz and the beach. Its a great hangout for a golf weekend with your buddies as there are local courses like the Alistir MacKenzie designed Pasatiempo in Santa Cruz as well as Monterey is only an hour away. There is hiking at the nearby Henry Cowell State Park in Felton, less than 3 miles away. There is also a steam train at the Roaring Camp Railroad park next to the Henry Cowell State Park.

One caution: please be careful when exiting the property and re-entering HWY 9. It is difficult to turn left onto the highway because of visibility. Please consider turning right and then turning around at the store just a short ways down the road.

There is no TV at the cabin, but there is free WiFi. No smoking please. In addition, this is a quiet neighborhood and we respect our neighbors who live nearby. Please do not book our cabin as a drinking party house. Try to bring the noise inside the house at 10 pm please. Thank you.

House Rules

Its a quiet neighborhood so we hope you will be reasonably quiet while you're there. Its very private as the house is on the end of Cottage avenue. Sheets and towels are available. There is a list on the bulletin board of other house rules. No dogs please as there are some already in the neighborhood. There is another 1400 square feet of decking all around the house. Great in the summer time for family gatherings.

Bill is a great communicator. This was the warmest welcome we have ever had at an air b&b, even though we did not meet in person. He is very flexible about arrival and departure times. The cabin is charming. The deck is fabulous. A lovely array of breakfast food was awaiting us. We can't wait to go back.

This is my favorite place to stay! Bill is a very welcoming and generous host. The neighborhood is very quiet, even though it is very close to the highway. The Cabin makes you feel like you are in your own little world, but still close to anything you could need or want. There is plenty of room to spread out and relax. The kitchen is stocked and there are plenty of towels, sheets, blankets, and TP to accommodate all the quests. We had a delightful time and will return as soon as we can!

This was the most "all inclusive" cabin I have ever seen. If there was something we needed, it was there. We arrived to a fridge with all the breakfast fixings we needed: eggs, bacon, milk, fruit, bread and OJ. Most importantly fresh coffee makings. The cabin was in a quiet setting with beautiful views. Plenty of parking. It's location made it easy to attend graduation events. We were able to relax and spend family time together. It was more than we hoped it would be. Thanks Bill!

When we arrived, the key was easy to find and the cabin was so welcoming and beautiful, it was hard to believe. There was plenty of room for our whole party, and the kitchen was filled with everything we needed. Bill checked in with us after arrival and before we left, to make sure all our questions were answered. Great host!

Married 35 years with two grown kids who are both married. We have one grandson! I love to play golf at the nearby Pasatiempo Golf course or go down to the Santa Cruz beach boardwalk.
