The Space

Our house is an all Redwood cabin set in the Redwoods of Ben Lomond. The property is on the San Lorenzo River with a nice view of the water. The cabin is fully functional and clean with four bedrooms, two bathrooms and a nice kitchen. There is a wood stove to heat the cabin and a couple of floor heaters to help out when its really cold. Lots of firewood available on the property. One of the bedrooms is a dorm of sorts that is great for your kids to bring along their friends. The place will sleep 4-10 depending on your family/friend configuration. The inside is all redwood -- walls, floors and the ceiling. The house is also surrounded by redwood decking, providing lots of space both inside and outside the home. There is even a horseshoe pit outside.

The location is near both Felton and Ben Lomond. Its about 15 minutes from downtown Santa Cruz and the beach. Its a great hangout for a golf weekend with your buddies as there are local courses like the Alistir MacKenzie designed Pasatiempo in Santa Cruz as well as Monterey is only an hour away. There is hiking at the nearby Henry Cowell State Park in Felton, less than 3 miles away. There is also a steam train at the Roaring Camp Railroad park next to the Henry Cowell State Park.

One caution: please be careful when exiting the property and re-entering HWY 9. It is difficult to turn left onto the highway because of visibility. Please consider turning right and then turning around at the store just a short ways down the road.

There is no TV at the cabin, but there is free WiFi. No smoking please. In addition, this is a quiet neighborhood and we respect our neighbors who live nearby. Please do not book our cabin as a drinking party house. Try to bring the noise inside the house at 10 pm please. Thank you.

  • Charm!!! This cabin in the woods was so perfect for my Parents and I! Private, cozy, with tons of outdoor porch space for lounging, late night card games, and a fully stocked kitchen. Tons of charm, and a whole lot of personal flare went into this house! Thank you for making this trip a great success!!!

  • Bill's cabin is so unique and welcoming! We stayed there for my boyfriend's birthday, and everyone enjoyed themselves. There is so much to look at in this quirky cabin--we were all thoroughly entertained. Bill was responsive and thoughtful. He called to make sure the accommodations suited our needs and he was extremely helpful. I would highly recommend this cabin for your next vacation!

  • What a fantastic weekend in Bill's cabin! This place has such history and character. And it could not have been more cozy. This was the perfect place for our group of friends to spend a relaxing holiday weekend.

Bill (email hidden)! We arrived to a spotless cabin with some breakfast goodies in the fridge and fresh flowers on the table. Communication was smooth leading up to our weekend stay; Bill always responded to my questions immediately. And he was very accommodating when we had to slightly modify the dates of our reservations.

The house is chock full of games and puzzles, and the kitchen was perfect for cooking big family-style dinners. We enjoyed playing horseshoes and tossing around the football. We also ventured into Santa Cruz for an afternoon. This place is close to everything!

Thanks again, we will be back.

  • Bill's place was fantastic. Super cozy, sleeps a bunch of people (we never even got an exact count of all the beds), and perfectly located for all kinds of wilderness adventures. It has a fully stocked kitchen and several excellent decks for eating outside. The house could get a bit chilly in the late fall weather, but the woodstove heads up the living room quickly and there was tons of dry chopped wood. Bill was also great - we met him briefly one morning and he gave us some solid hiking recommendations.
I'll definitely be back - I definitely want to spend at least one summer weekend swimming in the river behind the house.

  • The cabin was so charming! Our party of 6 had a wonderful stay with lots of options for sleeping and hanging out. Our hosts so sweetly left us some breakfast goodies and had everything we possibly needed to be comfortable, including kids toys and books, extra blankets, and firewood to make a fire. We loved all the old family photos and collections. A great weekend stay!

  • Lovely wooden construction holiday home surrounded by Redwood trees. Just the kind of relaxed family holiday home I would like to own myself. Feels full of memories.

  • Our stay was great! The cabin is right above the San Lorenzo River and has a very historic, days gone by feel. The cabin is rustic and vintage, but has a nice updated bathroom. The shower is satisfying and the beds are very comfortable. It would be fabulous for a family reunion. It has a kids room with 5 single beds, and another room outfitted with a crib and a double bed, and a downstairs bedroom for someone who can't climb stairs...The kitchen is very well stocked, and has a gas stove, but definitely does not have a modern or fancy feel. Oil cloth is tacked to the table in the kitchen with a fourescent light up above. No dishwasher, but the counter and sink are at a comfortable height and anti-fatigue mats are down below. Most of the lights turn on with pull chains, not alot of outlets or light switches, but we did not have a problem finding a power strip and charging our devices. The internet was fast and dependable. The host left very nice breakfast fixings for us in the fridge and set up an impressive coffee station. His communication was friendly and efficient. The inside of the cabin is pretty dark, with redwood paneling, but the wrap around deck is lovely and bright and was the perfect temperature for us in September.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Bill's. We felt very welcomed from our first steps in the door to the end of our stay. The cabin is just enough off the beaten path to enjoy the quite of the woods but yet close to the conviences of the lovely nearby towns and beautiful hiking trails of the parks. Our kids loved the available games and toys and we loved the space, comfortable feel and the trees! Bill was very attentive if we had any questions and even had the cabin stocked with some goodies and food staples when we arrived. We would love to return with friends or more family- there is plenty of space. Thanks Bill!
