This bamboo cottage is a secluded eco retreat down a quiet foot path nestled in the rice fields and only a five minute walk to central Ubud. Open air basket weave bedroom with mini loft, modern elegant bathroom and outdoor living area make this a truly unique Bali experience.
This is a woven house made almost entirely of bamboo. It is open air and as close to living in nature as you get.
We have a complete menu and full service to the cottage is just a phone call away with the complimentary cell phone we provide . We offer a complete menu of asian fusion snacks as well as a traditional balinese village style dinner served with candlelight and all accessories for a formal dining experience under the stars. dinner is prepared fresh from wild harvested or ingredients from our organic garden. Breakfast is delivered when you awake on the patio overlooking a lush greenery as far as the eye can see.
In addition to an organic garden we have a friendly goat who provides us with fresh milk we make into goat cheese and frequently serve in our delicious morning omelettes. The property is surrounded by rice fields with many opportunities for hiking.
Interaction with Guests
We check in with guests daily and are helpful in navigating your stay in Ubud. We have staff available to assist you with your every need. If you choose to dine in ubud and return after dark, someone will greet you and walk you back to your room. They will place Incense and offerings at your door daily and make sure your space is clean and you have what you need. There is nothing more spectacular than having a candlelit dinner under the stars. We will make sure you feel safe and very well cared for.
This is a hidden spot literally just minutes from the hustle and bustle of Ubud with its restaurants and shops, but it feels lost in time and like a total retreat. In the day you will only meet rice farmers and local women blessing the rice. At night you will only see fireflies and hear the rushing river, crickets and the distant sounds of the temple. An evening massage is a great way to end the day at sunset on the terrace. We have an in house masseuse who is available by appointment.
You can walk to town in five minutes or we are happy to rent you a scooter or arrange a driver for longer excursions. We can also assist with local hiking, biking or rafting tours.
Other Things to Note
This is a unique place and is not for everyone. It is eco tropical living at its best but with that comes nature in all its glory. Things to note: There is no air-conditioning although because of the location there is a constant cool breeze and you may even enjoy the quilt we provide at night. This cottage is a woven basket with a living bamboo and traditional grass roof leaving it totally open and in nature. Some people have asked about security. It is very secluded and very safe. However if you have valuables we are happy to lock them up for you. We have staff available to assist you and ensure you have what you need at all times. You will be very well cared for.
Sleeping in nature is something most of us don't do as we sleep in sealed rooms. It can be transformative to sleep in a natural setting, open to the cool night air, listening to the crickets and chirping geckos, the sounds of the nearby rushing stream with the fireflies glittering in the night. Don't let the unusual openness of the space deter you, this is an experience you won't soon forget.
Beautiful setting and hut. Was lovely to escape the busyness of Ubud and retreat here. Wayan and ketut were lovely. I got a phone while there on the second day which was handy to arrange someone to meet me at night, when it worked! The third night it wasn't working for some reason which meant I had to walk 2 of the 3 nights along the dark trail, which I didn't find pleasant. It's not unsafe as such but not pleasant for lone traveller. Other than this, it was really lovely and special experience! I also would recommend getting a lamp light next to bed, so one can read at night. Lovely having shower under the stars! Lovely terrace to sit and eat breakfast!
To sleep in the middle of the rice fields was a very nice experience! A short 300m curved small road through the fields brings you to the tiny house/room. The house is open so this means ofcourse no airco but a fan. Do realize that the house is filled with small animals, lots of ants everywhere. We didnt mind and accepted that since you sleep out in the open, the clamboo around the bed kept most of the animals out, but some might think this is a bit too much nature.
The view all around is very nice, the staff is really friendly, we left our bags during the day as they said it was safe. Nothing was missing so it is safe, only rice field workers walk around and no unwanted other people. Also the breakfast was good, a bit small for me but tasted great!
If you like something different than a standard hotel with a natural feel and some animals around go here :)
Best location ever!
We had two fantastic nights at the Bamboo eco cottage and it was the most amazing accomodation we ever experienced: lovely hosts with perfect dinner and breakfast and a breathtaking view in the middle of the rice fields. The sunrise and sunset where amazing and the best view is through the toilet window...perfect place for all who love special places.
OH My God! I feel so lucky that my gf and i managed to squeeze 1 day out of the tight booking schedule of Bamboo Eco Cottage and able to fit in my 4D3N stay at Ubud!!! This was really a one of a kind experience and I must say, we both loved it to bits and pieces!!!!!! the weather was so great and we could just enjoy the sun during the day on the patio where i just laid down for sunbathing and listening to the water running down the drains, crickets/toads/ducks/birds making noises, watching farmers working /locals carrying big things on their heads walking on the farmlands and simply enjoying being back to the nature! everything was as described/shown in photos here or even BETTER! The ambiance and experiences are not describable by words. Taking shower in the roofless shower area under the stars in the dark and early in the morning in broad daylight are both AWESOME! we felt we were embraced by our mother nature and never felt so relaxed without any music/tv or those kinds. we were a little worried abt the no-door, no-lock and no safe at the cottage but we were rest assured by wayan abt the surroundings and we didn't experience anything unpleasant at all during our stay! even though they have no door, there were curtains around and a mosquito/bed net. we were also provided with a torch for walking back to the cottage at night from the road where our driver dropped us off. it took abt 5-10 mins to walk out but we weren't worried, except when there was a dog barking and following us up to a fork of the path at night when heading back to cottage.
wayan was an incredible host, very friendly and attentive which made us felt at home! breakfast was served on the patio with nice balinese coffee which came with a plunge! we wish we could have stayed longer and would love to come back!!! thanks for making our stay at ubud so memorable and it's defo one of the most extraordinary places we have stayed in!
This place and its staff are amazing, exactly as described in hundreds of other reviews here. This is Bali as it should be experienced. Just wonderful. I'd consider packing light but even if that's not the case the effort in getting to the cottage is still worth it. The hut feels secluded, yet the staff makes you feel safe and looked after. The scenery is gorgeous. Breakfast is delicious. Enjoy your stay!
Wow, what an enchanting place this is! Amidst the rice paddies and still a short scooter ride away from the busy city center of Ubud. Only some locals and visitors from the other cottage will pass your cottage. The cottage is basic but has everything you need (incl. WiFi). The shower is in the open air and you can get a romantic candlelight dinner on the patio. There are no doors, but you still feel safe. If you stay here you will get all the bugs with it, so this place might not be for everyone. The staff is also amazing. Very friendly and even went out to find us something we craved for dinner which was not on the menu. For sure we will stay here again when returning to Ubud!
Unfortunately, I had only one night at this fantastic cottage in the middle of the rice field. However, I absolutely loved the place and absolutely must come back again.
The cottage is fantastically decorated and so cozy. Sunset and sunrise are nust stunning.
I also really recommend the food and drinks available there, our dinner was just amazing!!!!
