Interaction with Guests
We check in with guests daily and are helpful in navigating your stay in Ubud. We have staff available to assist you with your every need. If you choose to dine in ubud and return after dark, someone will greet you and walk you back to your room. They will place Incense and offerings at your door daily and make sure your space is clean and you have what you need. There is nothing more spectacular than having a candlelit dinner under the stars. We will make sure you feel safe and very well cared for.
This is a hidden spot literally just minutes from the hustle and bustle of Ubud with its restaurants and shops, but it feels lost in time and like a total retreat. In the day you will only meet rice farmers and local women blessing the rice. At night you will only see fireflies and hear the rushing river, crickets and the distant sounds of the temple. An evening massage is a great way to end the day at sunset on the terrace. We have an in house masseuse who is available by appointment.
You can walk to town in five minutes or we are happy to rent you a scooter or arrange a driver for longer excursions. We can also assist with local hiking, biking or rafting tours.
Other Things to Note
This is a unique place and is not for everyone. It is eco tropical living at its best but with that comes nature in all its glory. Things to note: There is no air-conditioning although because of the location there is a constant cool breeze and you may even enjoy the quilt we provide at night. This cottage is a woven basket with a living bamboo and traditional grass roof leaving it totally open and in nature. Some people have asked about security. It is very secluded and very safe. However if you have valuables we are happy to lock them up for you. We have staff available to assist you and ensure you have what you need at all times. You will be very well cared for.
Sleeping in nature is something most of us don't do as we sleep in sealed rooms. It can be transformative to sleep in a natural setting, open to the cool night air, listening to the crickets and chirping geckos, the sounds of the nearby rushing stream with the fireflies glittering in the night. Don't let the unusual openness of the space deter you, this is an experience you won't soon forget.
Enjoyed our stay here,The Staffs helpful, friendly
When we arrived at the Bamboo Cottage Wayan immediately came and welcomed us. He offered us refreshment and helped us get settled into the beautiful cottage. Many of the reviews we read before said there would be lots of insects so be prepared, and that is very accurate. Even though there aren't any doors it feels very private because the cottage stands alone in the middle of a rice field. The views you get when you wake up are unbelievable! And the breakfast is delicious! It was a wonderful, unique experience you can't get in your usual hotel or villa. From the cottage it is a 20-25 minute walk to central Ubud (7 minute walk to a main road). Wayan provided great services and was always available. I would highly recommend staying here for a few nights.
What an absolute GEM!! You are completely out of the hustle and bustle of busy Ubud but close enough to get around on scooters. Our host went beyond the call of duty and organised anything we need. The accommodation is right in the middle of a rice paddy and it was incredible waking up to the view. A must must must stay! We would be back in a heartbeat! A side note: we had the homemade basil pesto pasta on our first night and it was on our top list of eating in Indo. You will also need to hire bicycles or scooters because it is a little out of town. Another good idea would be to get your taxi driver to contact the host for directions because there is no sign and is up a little track. The beauty of it all is that you are off the beaten track.
If you want to get away from it all and be with the outdoors then this is the place for you! As pictured (even better) and the staff (Ketut and Wayan) are absolutely gracious. I wish I could have stayed longer and if I come back there is no doubt I will stay here again!
Amazing location!!! Our driver took us to the laneway where we had to walk for 5-7 mins to get to the hut along the rice paddies. Ketut came out to assist with the luggage (thank you!). Breathtaking surroundings and after 2 nights on Monkey Forest Road, it makes a nice change to get away from the crowd. The torch, mobile phone and wifi are great additions which made us feel a bit safer.
Would definitely recommend staying at this cottage - it's a rare experience and a nice zen feeling to be out with nature. The outdoor shower was especially refreshing, especially at night as we got to see to stars. Another plus was the coffee Wayan brought us in the morning. So good!!! I would recommend getting the pancake over the western breakfast (toast and jam).
It took us about 20 mins to walk to the city centre, but at night walking back it was a bit scary (I wouldn't stay here on my own) and we heard animal noises when we were sleeping which woke us up. Still, would definitely go back and just spend days chilling there. I miss it already!
My friends and I stayed in Bamboo Eco Cottage for 2 nights on last May. Two nights seems not enough for us! A very wonderful experience! Arrived at 8 pm made us a bit difficult to find the place. But yup, the staffs are very friendly, helping us to find the parking place and another experience to walk in the dark, in the middle of rice field, guided by a flashlight.
As city-persons, we're really happy of all the nature brought to us. Laying down on the terrace under the starlight, open air bathroom, unique bed & nice weather.. Good breakfast offered, very friendly & helpful staffs, nice surroundings, good view, a nice dog named 'Robert' playing around, having chit chat with locals in the rice field, really couldn't ask for more! :) insects, dirty and hot weather during the nights are never there :D
Really recommend this place to u who wants a little break from all the routines, peaceful place, who needs some time gathered back to nature.
Thank you for Bamboo Eco Cottage to add up another happy story for our holiday! :D keep up the excellent service!
Stayed only 1 night, but will come back for more.
Truly an unique and beautiful space.
