Interaction with Guests
We check in with guests daily and are helpful in navigating your stay in Ubud. We have staff available to assist you with your every need. If you choose to dine in ubud and return after dark, someone will greet you and walk you back to your room. They will place Incense and offerings at your door daily and make sure your space is clean and you have what you need. There is nothing more spectacular than having a candlelit dinner under the stars. We will make sure you feel safe and very well cared for.
This is a hidden spot literally just minutes from the hustle and bustle of Ubud with its restaurants and shops, but it feels lost in time and like a total retreat. In the day you will only meet rice farmers and local women blessing the rice. At night you will only see fireflies and hear the rushing river, crickets and the distant sounds of the temple. An evening massage is a great way to end the day at sunset on the terrace. We have an in house masseuse who is available by appointment.
You can walk to town in five minutes or we are happy to rent you a scooter or arrange a driver for longer excursions. We can also assist with local hiking, biking or rafting tours.
Other Things to Note
This is a unique place and is not for everyone. It is eco tropical living at its best but with that comes nature in all its glory. Things to note: There is no air-conditioning although because of the location there is a constant cool breeze and you may even enjoy the quilt we provide at night. This cottage is a woven basket with a living bamboo and traditional grass roof leaving it totally open and in nature. Some people have asked about security. It is very secluded and very safe. However if you have valuables we are happy to lock them up for you. We have staff available to assist you and ensure you have what you need at all times. You will be very well cared for.
Sleeping in nature is something most of us don't do as we sleep in sealed rooms. It can be transformative to sleep in a natural setting, open to the cool night air, listening to the crickets and chirping geckos, the sounds of the nearby rushing stream with the fireflies glittering in the night. Don't let the unusual openness of the space deter you, this is an experience you won't soon forget.
First impression was good because the location is quite and so beautiful. The breakfast was served at 8.30 am so please prepare for that issue. The internet connection was used bolt modem but when we arrived,it can't be used. The photo is exactly shown the real condition but it seems spooky at the nite. Overall, we got a new experience but it doesn't suitable for honeymoon season like we did.
This cottage is an absolute dream and the side of Bali I envisioned when I booked my trip. Despite the lack of walls and AC, it was surprisingly easy to sleep with an ever-present breeze blowing throughout and the sound of the river just yards away. Perhaps even more surprisingly, at no point did I feel my possessions were unsafe. Whilst the cottage is just 5 minutes from Central Ubud, you really wouldn't know it, what with the cottage tucked away in a rice field. Wayan was extremely helpful too and breakfast was delicious each morning. I only wish we could've stayed longer!
We had a great time staying at the eco cottage. The service was great and the atmosphere was wonderful to wake and fall asleep to. We were concerned about leaving all our belongings unattended with no where to secure them, but we never had any issues. We would recommend including a safe for some peace of mind. The only issue we had was with our departure- we asked our attendants to call us a driver (who was one of their fathers, as we found out), we agreed on a rate over the phone and then we arrived at our next destination he increased the amount by almost double, claiming he told us that over the phone. So be aware of this, stay firm in your initial agreement and even discuss it prior to departing, or just call a driver on your own that you already trust.
I stayed at both the eco cottage and the treehouse and overall my stay was okay. Overall I think the cottage and treehouse were lovely for couples, but not for solo's. About a 10-15 minute walk into the centre of Ubud - as a solo traveller I wish I chose somewhere closer. It's also tough to walk from the treehouse to the road if it is raining, but an umbrella is supplied + some torches and a phone for calling the staff. Breakfast was good and changed everyday, however everything else on the menu was disappointing, especially the only dinner option of Nasi Campur, and usually as a lover of Indonesian food, I found it to be tasteless and over priced for its serving size - I found a much better nasi campur for 75000 rupiah less just down the road.
Wayan and the other staff were wonderful and very easy to communicate with.
P.s. if you are staying in the treehouse there is construction going on from around 7.30am to 5pm everyday literally on top of the treehouse, so it is pretty noisy and privacy is pretty much lost.
Wow, this was really something! The photos are really accurate, however it says the least of it all. This hands down has been the best accommodation we've ever had! It was magical in a very down to earth manner. Everything from the deco, to the service, to the colour of the walls, to the warm brick outdoor shower, to the outdoor patio, to the definite fact of my return. The service staff were really really helpful and humble. If it weren't for us trying to use as little water as possible we would have spent days in the outdoor shower. The bathroom is really beautiful! One gets to experience the Balinese culture in depth as local farmers occasionally walk by and would stop for a short chat. The fact that this place had no doors didn't bother us one bit, we felt completely safe and our privacy weren't sacrificed as there were draw curtains that covered the room. The way Rainy had designed and built the cottage made it even more special to stay in and we got much more than what we paid for. This is just something you have to experience at least once. We can't wait to come back and stay at the tree house and swim in her Eco pool once it has been completed!
Beautiful setting and hut. Was lovely to escape the busyness of Ubud and retreat here. Wayan and ketut were lovely. I got a phone while there on the second day which was handy to arrange someone to meet me at night, when it worked! The third night it wasn't working for some reason which meant I had to walk 2 of the 3 nights along the dark trail, which I didn't find pleasant. It's not unsafe as such but not pleasant for lone traveller. Other than this, it was really lovely and special experience! I also would recommend getting a lamp light next to bed, so one can read at night. Lovely having shower under the stars! Lovely terrace to sit and eat breakfast!
To sleep in the middle of the rice fields was a very nice experience! A short 300m curved small road through the fields brings you to the tiny house/room. The house is open so this means ofcourse no airco but a fan. Do realize that the house is filled with small animals, lots of ants everywhere. We didnt mind and accepted that since you sleep out in the open, the clamboo around the bed kept most of the animals out, but some might think this is a bit too much nature.
The view all around is very nice, the staff is really friendly, we left our bags during the day as they said it was safe. Nothing was missing so it is safe, only rice field workers walk around and no unwanted other people. Also the breakfast was good, a bit small for me but tasted great!
If you like something different than a standard hotel with a natural feel and some animals around go here :)
