This bamboo cottage is a secluded eco retreat down a quiet foot path nestled in the rice fields and only a five minute walk to central Ubud. Open air basket weave bedroom with mini loft, modern elegant bathroom and outdoor living area make this a truly unique Bali experience.

The Space

This is a woven house made almost entirely of bamboo. It is open air and as close to living in nature as you get.

Guest Access

Guest can access caretakers kitchen or can have food catered. They will be provided with morning coffee and a light breakfast delivered when you awake on the patio overlooking a lush greenery as far as the eye can see.
You are welcome to fresh goats milk and organic veggies from the neighboring organic garden and can enjoy hikes on the many trails that border the property.

Interaction with Guests

We check in with guests daily and are helpful in navigating your stay in Ubud. We have staff available to assist you with your every need. If you choose to dine in ubud and return after dark, someone will greet you and walk you back to your room. They will place Incense and offerings at your door daily and make sure your space is clean and you have what you need. If you choose you can order a massage or a meal catered in your room. There is nothing more spectacular than having a candlelit dinner under the stars. We will make sure you feel safe and very well cared for.

The Neighborhood

This is a hidden spot literally just minutes from the hustle and bustle of Ubud with its restaurants and shops, but it feels lost in time and like a total retreat. In the day you will only meet rice farmers and local women blessing the rice. At night you will only see fireflies and hear the rushing river, crickets and the distant sounds of the temple. You can enjoy the many hiking trails, order a massage in the natural surrounds or enjoy a home cooked meal organically grown out of the garden as you feast on the stunning views of rice terraces.

Getting around

You can walk to town in five minutes or we are happy to rent you a scooter or arrange a driver for longer excursions.

Other Things to Note

This is a unique place and is not for everyone. It is eco tropical living at its best but with that comes nature in all its glory. Things to note: There is no air-conditioning although because of the location there is a constant cool breeze and you may even enjoy the quilt we provide at night. This cottage is a woven basket with a living bamboo and traditional grass roof leaving it totally open and in nature. Some people have asked about security. It is very secluded and very safe. However if you have valuables we are happy to lock them up for you. We have staff available to assist you and ensure you have what you need at all times. You will be very well cared for.

Sleeping in nature is something most of us don't do as we sleep in sealed rooms. It can be transformative to sleep in a natural setting, open to the cool night air, listening to the crickets and chirping geckos, the sounds of the nearby rushing stream with the fireflies glittering in the night. Don't let the unusual openness of the space deter you, this is an experience you won't soon forget.

  • What can I say about the Eco bamboo house? We stayed in Ubud one extra day just to be able to experience a night here, and it was definitely worth it. The bamboo house is located in the middle of the rice fields, you can hear the ducks quacking during the day, say hello to the farmers hard at work nearby...it is hard to believe that you are only a few minutes away via cab from Ubud Centre! It takes about 10 minutes to walk from the gates to the bamboo house, but the walk is nothing physically demanding.

I am described as somewhat "high maintenance" but this "luxury camping" experience was MAGICAL! The bamboo house was simply gorgeous (photos provided are accurate and the view from your outdoor dining area was even better!!) and I enjoyed showering under the open stars. In terms of food, they were able to cater simple homecooked meals such as nasi goreng, but we also had the option to order delivery. The staff kindly delivered it to our door and even plated our takeout. What a service! OH, and the staff as well as the locals living in the area greet you with the best smiles! :)

There was no door to lock, but we felt perfectly safe.

Owner also provided cellphone to use and our gracious host answered warmly, quickly and efficiently.

Thank you so much again for a wonderful stay and warm memories of Ubud!

  • Amazing place!! I would go back anytime! It's super romantic too. I was there with my ex so it was definitely not the perfect situation. Long story... Do not hesitate and book this place. We were there for 3 nights but I would have stayed for a month.

  • I loved staying here, such a unique experience. Staff are amazing, helpful. The food was some of the best I've had in Bali. I wish I could have stayed longer!

  • Nice stay in this breathtaking bamboo house for two nights. Everything was just so right when you are sitting in the centre of the vibrant green rice field. Can you imagine that the numerous stars were just upon you and you had nothing to do just lying down on the balcony, enjoying the serenity around you. How amazing it was!

  • This place is AWESOME. You should definetly go here for a night or two. The atmosphere is so relaxed, it's not really far away from Ubud city centre, but far enough to feel completely isolated. Wayan is a GREAT guy who did far more than expected for me to be comfortable at all times. Nice little touch with the cellphone. And I was actually surprized not to have a single bug in my bed all night! A little mouse came by though, but he was friendly enough :)
Will recommend this place to all adventurers out there, who want a quiet, relaxing spot in the rice fields - with a close-to-nature experience during the night. One night was enough for my needs.

  • We stayed in this place for 2 nights and I have to say everything was just perfect. Great host, perfect breakfast, stunning view and nature (yes, you should be ready to meet nature in You bed or room). This place is not for those who are looking for air conditioner, shopping or beach nearby, but if You wish to clean up your head, have some really good rest and memorable adventure I really recommend to stay here for a while.
Wayan and everyone else there are great guys! Ready to help problems and help. They gave us local mobile phone with only one number in case we or they need to contact us (which is a very good idea).
Thank You and hope to be back soon to try "Tree house" nearby!

  • The Eco Cottage was absolutely perfect and exactly what I had hoped for. We sadly only had one night at the cottage but I would highly recommend staying for a few if you can. The cottage itself is in great condition, clean and fresh with a hint of survival mode with it's open walls. Wayan and Rainy made sure our transport and time was spent with ease which was nice when travelling to Ubud for the first time.

If you are looking for something a little different and very memorable do not hesitate in booking this for your next trip!

  • Amazing place! it's one hell of an experience staying at this place. You will barely find such kinda place to stay in your life, then go for it. The host team (Rainy & Wayan) are really great people, nice and helpful. the place itself is very well decorated, clean and neat. I did actually have the best sleep in my whole trip to Bali at this hut! 10/10

  • My stay at the eco-cottage was amazing and made the other two places (that were far more expensive) pale in comparison.

First of all the photos don't do the experience justice. This is truly unique in every way. You get your creature comforts attended to (they provide a cell phone in case you need anything, the hot or cold outdoor shower is AMAZING, there is Wifi if you need it and you have a super comfortable bed) while feeling like you are lost among the rice fields and palm trees on a camping trip away from the action. Except you can walk to downtown in about 10-15 min.

Second of all, Rainy and Wayan can make anything happen for you in Bali and beyond. Rainy hooked up an incredibly inexpensive white-water rafting trip and helped arrange a trip to another island among other things while I was there. They truly wanted to help me have the greatest memories of Indonesia. And I do. And I will say, shopping around I received the best prices for rides to the airport, a trip to the Gilis and so on. She even helped me locate a local Hash run that took me through some really amazing views I would not have seen otherwise.

Loved this place. I miss it so much. I will be back.

  • We had an amazing stay at the eco cottage! It's even better than the photo's. The views are spectacular! Rainy organised (on request) a delicious candle light dinner and a massage right at the cottage. It's a great experience - in the middle of rice fields where people are actually working. All very friendly. We would definitely recommend this place to anybody. It's different in a great way!
