A 2013 GUEST DESCRIBES, "Beautiful, tastefully and artistically furnished cottage in the middle of a splendid landscape. The hosts were very accommodating; we would love to go back in future"
Come to our studio to enjoy the wonderful open space of our farm. Located near so many local attractions, including, Deer Isle, Blue Hill, Stonington, Castine and Penobscot. Add an extra bedroom for two more guests if you need. A great spot for young families!
We made this studio in our main farm house so small groups can enjoy the farm. It can also be added to the cabin and Captain Robert's house for large groups.
The field across the street is for your campfires and smores and enjoyment of the fantastic western sunsets.
Brooksville hosts the best organic farming and farmer's market on Tuesdays. Local farms bring organic foods, baked items, cheeses, pottery, jewelry and more. Fresh bread is baked 1/2 mile away, twice a week and pizza and chocolate croissants are also available. Local lobstermen make finding fresh Maine Lobsters easy and you can even get them cooked for you.
Our beach and boat house look down the river to Castine, Islesboro and Camden and the waterfront is beautiful.
Flying into Bangor is 1 hour away and Portland (website hidden) Harbor is just over an hour and Acadia is a great trip to walk or ride your bike around the trails there. Our peninsula has loads of open space and is surrounded by water and sailors love these waters. Theater, antiques, music, and local craft are nearby.
Two beaches, boat house, fire pit and 37 acres to enjoy.
Near Yoga Center and Tinderhearth.
Interaction with Guests
We are on site and like to answer any questions our guests have. We also try to give them fresh eggs upon arrival and fresh organic veggies and herbs when available.
We love how beautiful it is. We love the water and open sky. Our farm is in the process of growing medicinal herbs and becoming certified organic. We are so lucky to be here!
You need a car, a friend with a car or a bike and like to ride.
Other Things to Note
Please come if you expect a cozy, enriching visit. We have so many wonderful people around you never need to leave Brooksville as our little market and farmer's market has all you need right here.
You may rent a kayak or canoe in Blue Hill.
We expect our studio to be a comfortable, private and restful place. We respect our water use and are ask our guests to also. Recycling is available and so is a big lobster pot in the yard for cooking. We hope our guests will respect our property as we do and leave it in excellent condition! Thank you!
We had a great stay (10 days) in the studio. It is a perfect place for relaxing and reading. Though hiking etc. is possible at the nearby Holbrooke Sanctuary or at Acadia National Park. The studio is equipped with everything you need. The Gregors provide vegetables like tomatoes and fresh eggs.
The studio is charming, immaculate and convenient. Your own entrance and kitchen, located in the quiet countryside but convenient to Blue Hill, Deer Isle and Acadia, in an area with lots of charm but little
commercial lodging. We would definitely stay there again!
Aunt Mary's Studio was exactly the space we were looking for. It was the perfect size for two adults and 1 year old. We spent a lot of time outside in the private little garden area. There are two beautiful horses, a goose, ducks and chickens. The organic garden was just the thing to add a nice touch to each meal we prepared. It's was just the tonic we needed after city living.
Carol and Dick, the hosts, were friendly and more then accommodating. The setting was beautiful. There are two private beaches, wild blueberries, and a great pizza place just down the road (Tinder Hearth). There's a plethora of fun things to do within an hour of the studio. We enjoyed farmer's markets, lobster pounds, galleries, potters, ice cream shops, etc.
Overall, the experience was relaxing and wonderful.
Our hosts are obviously in love with their farm, where their horses and other farm animals are very happy. Carol and Dick strike a good balance between respecting their guests' privacy and offering information, plus they welcomed us with fresh eggs and beautiful flowers. There are many ways to enjoy the environs - through access to the water, bike rides and hiking, and a great Iyengar yoga studio nearby. I highly recommend this experience and hope to return.
My fiance and I just wanted to have the coastal maine experience. We wanted to get away for just a weekend. This really was the perfect place for us. Carol left fresh eggs for us and we cooked them up the next morning. It was such a good start to the day. It was clean and the kitchen is great for those who want to cook all the fresh ingredients in the area. We slept so well here and felt so relaxed. We hope to come back soon.
I had a nice week-long stay at the studio. I was in Maine for work and this served well for me to use in the evenings and get ready in the morning. Carol and others living near quarters were pleasant and helpful. The farm is charming and adjacent field is gorgeous in the morning. I wish I would have had more time during the day to go for a swim and explore more of the area.
We enjoyed our time in Brroksville staying in Aunt Mary's Attic. The peaceful surroundings, and warm welcome were a treat. Carol provided us with information and checked in on us to make sure we were comfortable etc. The access to the water was great and we were able to store our kayaks in her boat house. Very friendly and charming hosts. I would love to stay here again.

We have a lovely family farm and like having guests visit. We are in the main house but offer rooms weekly or by the day. Our life is full of nature and gardening. We love to sail and have family visit. Our home is full of many memories and reminds us of our family that lived there when all were Sea Captains. This farm was Captain Wasson's and our Aunt Mary's. The land is organic and we have two Haflinger/Paint Draft Ponies. Our chickens and garden are abundant and blueberries fill the fields.
