July 2015 John said

The space was lovely and just what we were looking for - a pleasant, quaint, cozy place to stay near the water, with oodles of charm. Dick and Carol were phenomenal hosts who struck a perfect balance between offering great warmth and hospitality with giving us our space. Carol and Dick were also incredibly knowledgeable of the area and graciously keyed us into happenings nearby. They have my complete recommendation.

As Krissey said in 2014:
Aunt Mary's Studio was exactly the space we were looking for. It was the perfect size for two adults and 1 year old. We spent a lot of time outside in the private little garden area. There are two beautiful horses, a goose, ducks and chickens. The organic garden was just the thing to add a nice touch to each meal we prepared. It's was just the tonic we needed after city living.
Carol and Dick, the hosts, were friendly and more then accommodating. The setting was beautiful. There are two private beaches, wild blueberries, and a great pizza place just down the road (Tinder Hearth). There's a plethora of fun things to do within an hour of the studio. We enjoyed farmer's markets, lobster pounds, galleries, potters, ice cream shops, etc.
Overall, the experience was relaxing and wonderful.

A 2013 guest, "The entire setting is pristine, peaceful and ready to offer the best of well-appointed accommodations to sea-loving travelers!
"Carol has created a studio space where guests have everything they need. It is cozy and rustic downstairs and bright and cheery upstairs. We highly recommend Aunt Mary's!"

PRIVATE, Two story studio with queen bed, charming kitchen, dining and comfy living/studio with 1 full bath located on the most beautiful land in Brooksville, waterfront access, open organic farmland and quiet, star filled nights.
Attached to the historic Captain Wasson home in West Brooksville, The Studio is a little oasis.

A 2013 GUEST DESCRIBES, "Beautiful, tastefully and artistically furnished cottage in the middle of a splendid landscape. The hosts were very accommodating; we would love to go back in future"
Come to our studio to enjoy the wonderful open space of our farm. Located near so many local attractions, including, Deer Isle, Blue Hill, Stonington, Castine and Penobscot. Add an extra bedroom for two more guests if you need. A great spot for young families!
We made this studio in our main farm house so small groups can enjoy the farm. It can also be added to the cabin and Captain Robert's house for large groups.
The field across the street is for your campfires and smores and enjoyment of the fantastic western sunsets.
Brooksville hosts the best organic farming and farmer's market on Tuesdays. Local farms bring organic foods, baked items, cheeses, pottery, jewelry and more. Fresh bread is baked 1/2 mile away, twice a week and pizza and chocolate croissants are also available. Local lobstermen make finding fresh Maine Lobsters easy and you can even get them cooked for you.
Our beach and boat house look down the river to Castine, Islesboro and Camden and the waterfront is beautiful.
Flying into Bangor is 1 hour away and Portland (website hidden) Harbor is just over an hour and Acadia is a great trip to walk or ride your bike around the trails there. Our peninsula has loads of open space and is surrounded by water and sailors love these waters. Theater, antiques, music, and local craft are nearby.

Two beaches, boat house, fire pit and 37 acres to enjoy.
Buck's Harbor, and Tinderhearth are nearby as are our local farmer's and markets

We are on site and like to answer any questions our guests have. We also try to give them fresh eggs upon arrival and fresh organic veggies and herbs when available.

We love how beautiful it is. We love the water and open sky. Our farm is in the process of growing medicinal herbs and becoming certified organic. We are so lucky to be here!

You need a car, a friend with a car or a bike and like to ride. We do have a couple of bikes for you here.

Please come if you expect a cozy, enriching visit. We have so many wonderful people around you never need to leave Brooksville as our little market and farmer's market have all you need right here.
You may rent a kayak or canoe in Blue Hill.

Interaction with Guests

Happy to help our guests and we do drop off eggs and veggies as they are available.

The Neighborhood

Our neighborhood has not changed in 180 years from the time my husband's ancestors sailed from our wharf around the world. Two salt water farms remain in our family and the land and waterfront are as pristine and magical as they once were. Our neighbors include the wonderful Tinderhearth, 1/4 mile for bread and pizza and open mic, David's Folly Farm for meats and produce and Buck's Harbor for dinner or supplies. Yoga is in Blue Hill with David Walker, kayaks are available to rent and be delivered here. Castine is 2 miles by water and has our favorite Pentagoet restaurant along with great pizza and history. Fresh milk can be found at the Retburgs in Penobscot and lobsters cooked from Northern Bay Market. The local parades and breakfasts are on going and the Steel Bands are playing through out the summer. The methodist Church in Buck's Harbor has music every Tuesday night all summer and the Yacht Club has dancing on Thursday night. Reversing Fall's Sanctuary also offers many local events including Solstice celebrations and art shows. Holbrook Island along with numerous hiking trails abound through the Blue Hill Heritage Trust. Enjoy swimming at Walker's Pond or if you prefer, use our beach and the chill of the water right here.
Don't forget all the activity in Stonington at the Opera House or enjoy a boat ride. The Surry Theater has ongoing shows, Deer Isle's artists and Haystack are busy all summer and visit Brooklin Boat Yard. There is classical music at Kneisal Hall and in Blue Hill. The Grand in Ellsworth is busy all summer also. And Acadia is just over an hour away. There are many nature walks and ocean studies happening also. One can also just sit on our beach and enjoy the many types of boats that are part of this seaside farm.
Look at the Weekly Packet for all the local events.
