We had a fantastic 3 night experience using Carole's Cabin as my family's "base-of-operations" for our yearly abalone diving adventures :)
As many others have already stated, we found the cabin's kitchen to be well-stocked (pots, pans, utensils, spices, etc.) and there was plenty of wood to keep the cabin going at a nice and toasty temperature. Having 5 adult divers, the additional toilet/shower combo in the garage was crucial to speeding up our post-diving clean-up procedures, which gave us more time to explore the towns of Fort Bragg and Mendocino during the day. The porch was great for relaxing in the sun after our long drive up and after our morning dives (and it gave the bocce-ball spectators a great vantage point to deliver their commentary). I can't forget the b-e-a-utiful ocean views, which can be seen from the kitchen table, that we all enjoyed at breakfasts and dinners (especially during our abalone feast!). Beach access was also really just 5 minutes away down a little path and some well-built steps.
We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone considering this rental- it was unbeatable for the location, amenities, the price/person breakdown, and for its kitchen (with respect to local hotel room rentals, which are usually sans kitchens). Having rented houses/rooms in the area for the past 5 years, I'd be confident in saying that if you book this cabin you won't regret it! :)
After spending a wonderful New Years holiday at this north coast gem with Jess and friends, I immediately knew I wanted to share it with my family. This place has since become one of my favorite getaways.
We spent a relaxing 4 days at this comfy cabin with evening walks around the Point Cabrillo lighthouse and Frolic Cove, where we enjoyed a beautiful sunset every night! The location cannot be beat with short driving access to the marvelous glass beach in Fort Bragg, the gorgeous Mendocino headlands, and a whole host of other antique shops, historical museums, and beautiful hiking trails for all levels of adventurers. As a group of photographers, we particularly loved the scenic coastline dotted with secluded beaches, which we could explore for hours on end until the daylight ran thin.
As many of the other reviewers mentioned, the kitchen is incredibly well stocked and made cooking delicious meals a breeze! The fireplace and copious wood logs kept us warm and cozy every night while we listened to the waves break and stars drift overhead. The one night the fog rolled in, we had plenty of games, books and movies to keep us busy. With the full supply closet, extra towels and cleaning supplies I felt like everything we could ever need was right at hand.
We even woke up to a few deer grazing right outside one morning! Truly a magical little spot.
Looking forward to coming back again soon :)
We have just returned from a lovely two days at Carole's Cozy Cabin. We were welcomed with a delightful bottle of wine, some chocolate and even stamped postcards that we could send. The cabin was incredibly well stocked. Carole has thought of everything imaginable to make it a comfortable place for visitors. The kitchen is better equipped than my own. The setting is gorgeous with a cute garden area in front and wonderful ocean views from the living room windows. Everything was as described. The beach was just a short walk away. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it.
What a wonderful location! The secluded beach was delightful. The walk to the lighthouse was great. Mendocino and Fort Bragg are both fun day trips very close by. We had everything we needed and saved lots of money by packing lunches for our excursions and coming home to make a wonderful dinner at night. There is even a crockpot, so we had our dinner ready when we came home! The only glitch was I didn't print out the instructions for finding the lock box -thinking I could access it on my phone. But I wasn't able to find it on the mobile site. It is different than the webpage. A short drive in to Fort Bragg for cell service and Amanda was able to answer my questions. We needed groceries anyway. Truly a fantastic stay!
The reservation was canceled 58 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
We were welcomed with wine and chocolate - it went quickly and was enjoyed. The beds were very comfortable and the wood stove keeps the cabin toasty. What a beautful view in a very quiet neighborhood. Loved hearing the barking sea lions and the walk to the lighthouse was invigorating.
We loved our two weeks here. We built a fire in the wood stove every day and the bedrooms were comfortable. The kitchen is great, so we cooked every night. The neighborhood is quiet and the area is gorgeous with headlands and state parks to explore. We would go again.
