Really can't reccomend the Baker's Loft highly enough, we had an awesome nights stay! Mark is a fantastic host and goes out of his way to make you feel welcome. We arrived back on the evening to a welcome pint and freshly baked bread. It was a real privalege to get a glimpse behind the scenes at the bakery and the room was just perfect. We hope to be back in the future!
Mark and Elizabeth were incredibly welcoming. They are amazing innkeepers, and the property is beautiful. They met us with a welcome pastry -- hot apple turnover -- and delivered warm, fresh baguettes from the bakery downstairs both days. We were also greeted with a free wine or beer from the bar downstairs. They were very helpful with local recommendations, etc., including a free wine tasting at a local vineyard. Would definitely stay here again!
Surrounded by nature and the green redwood forest on top of a gourmet bakery is almost surreal! Our hosts gave us easy texting confirmation via ABNB, and the spacious rooftop loft bedroom was clean, and comfy with various sitting spaces. A lovely bathroom/ rainfall shower head, nice towels provided a sense of thoughtful consideration for guests. There are other cottages on site, but privacy for all. Our hosts greeted us w delicious brownie treats, offered to build us a campfire- we were tired from a day in the river/ beach in MonteRio! The morning breakfast bakery buffet table was amazing, generosity was bountiful- we were given a bonus treat of symphony music echoing from the music camp across highway - way cool! Our host gave of a map of other interesting sites on highway 1, and dining suggestions which we gladly followed.
We arrived on a Sunday evening at about 5pm and there was no one there. Another guest was wandering around the property looking for the host. Our paperwork directed us on how to enter our room. We entered and the room was more drab than appeared online. There was no tv as the listing said there was one. The towels were old and thin. The bedding was dingy. We turned around and left without staying. There was no restaurants or food anywhere near the property. It was not an environment we felt comfortable staying at.
had a great time and Johnny was terrific. very helpful and incredible charming...we will be back but would like to checkout the cabins next time.
We had a great time at the Baker's Loft! Everyone was very friendly and the staff were attentive to our needs. Mark was even kind enough to see us off with some delicious fresh fruit! A mid-Summer Friday night was an especially good time to visit, as there was live music downstairs.
The only caveat to my recommendation is that the bed is not especially accommodating to those prone to back pain, such as myself, but should be fine for most people.
The room itself was very lovely and breakfast was delicious. The camp outside was incredibly noisy, but I believe that was only this week that this is happening, so I cannot fault Mark on this at all.

About the Host, Mark
Fourteen years ago my wife and I fell in love with an abandoned restaurant with four tired cottages on three acres of wild blackberries and old growth redwoods on Austin Creek. It has been an exhausting/exhilarating labor of love that has enriched our lives in more ways than we ever imagined. We hope that you will enjoy it as much as we have!
