Our three bedroomed apartment is beautifully located in an end of terrace Victorian house at the foot of the Castle Hill in the market town of Kendal. It is in a quiet neighbourhood surrounded by trees and greenery but only 5 minutes walk along the river bank from the town centre and its traditional pubs, bars and restaurants.
You can walk up to the castle ruin, perfect for evening sunsets and enjoy panoramic views of the Lake District hills and the town. Or take a stroll along the river to the Abbot Hall Art Gallery and Museum of Lakeland Life.
The lower ground floor apartment is tastefully furnished with a mix of antique and modern furniture. It has two bedrooms and one sitting room/bedroom. There are TVs in the bedrooms and a TV/DVD player in the living room. The kitchen is fitted with everything you need to enjoy a home from home stay such as oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. The bathroom has a bath with shower over.

Kendal is easily accessible from the M6 and has a mainline rail station Oxenholme Lake District with direct trains to London Euston 2.5 hours. There is a local rail link, 5 mins to Staveley (which has a nice pub the Eagle and Child) and about 15 mins to Windermere. There are also regular buses to take you into the heart of the Lakes.
The apartment was in a great part of Kendal, very close to the castle and within easy walking distance of town center. The apartment was quite big with very comfortable rooms. The host was very friendly and willing to accommodate us. She even provided information about local sights and restaurants.
Hi Janet, thanks for your feedback. I do provide towels so there should have been enough for each of you. I let them know how many people are staying and the cleaners usually put them in each room, I'm sorry for the oversight. I wish you'd let me know when you were here, I would have sorted it out for you, they were probably put away in the cupboard, likewise with the hair dryer. I will just mention it to Sebastian and make a note to self to make sure for future guests. I think it's a good suggestion to have a hair dryer, I don't use them myself so don't think of it but I understand they're bulky to carry on flights so I have put one in the kitchen drawer now which will benefit other travellers. Thanks for the suggestion. Dripping taps again thanks for mentioning. I've had a look and think washers need changing, another job for Sebastian, it's not a huge problem but it wastes water and we pay for our usage.
I'm glad you had a nice time staying here. It's important for me that people enjoy staying at the flat and I do my best to enable that. As I'm living separately I do try to ensure people to know that they can contact me if they need anything. Once again thanks for your feedback and suggestions they are helpful. Best wishes, Rachel
This is probably the best place to stay if one is visiting South Lake District area of Windermere and surroundings.
Kendal can be a great base and this property is real good if you are a family. Lovely surrounding, good interiors and home decor, spacious kitchen and rooms.
Rachel was a nice host, there wasn't any communication trouble.
All in all a stay worked very well, if visiting this area would definitely like to stay again!!!
Stunning house with a fully equipped kitchen, 3 massive rooms and a very cool patio-garden that connects to the kitchen. Kendal Castle is a 5 minutes walk away and the view over there is breathtaking. Rachel is a cheerful and accommodating host! Should've stayed a few more nights.....
After a few days in the lakes my 2 brothers and I stayed in this great flat to enjoy kendal before heading home. Location is just as described and very easy to get into town. It is situated in a very pleasant cul de sac so very quiet with safe parking.
The flat worked perfectly for our needs with a decently equipped kitchen.
A very nice touch was a pint of milk being provided in order to have a cup of tea and relax.
Rachel as a host was great, she kept in touch and was very hospitable giving us some info upon arrival but then let us get on with our stay.
Massive bedrooms completed the stay with very comfy double beds. I definitely recommend this place if visiting kendal!
Rachel was a fantastic host, she welcomed us on arrival and showed us around the apartment, which is beautiful and very spacious. Rachel was very informative about Kendal, explaining where the restaurants where located, current events within town and had left a detailed information pack in the kitchen.
The area was lovely, if you walk up the hill it leads you to the castle with amazing views of the town. It is quiet and only a 10 minute walk into the town centre.
Good location, clean apartment. Kitchen was very useful, and proximity to lovely castle a bonus. Would stay again.
What a wonderful place to stay. We arrived and shortly after a slightly frustrating phone call which didn't find Rachel , she came and let us in to her beautiful apartment. The upholstery is all so beautiful, and comfortable. Two beds just right, one a little hard. Lovely stay, nice kitchen, fab location in the town, generous host. Thanks Rachel, it was so special. Xxx
A nice apartment, well-located in Kendal. Rachel was a good host, and we enjoyed our visit a great deal. I was particularly pleased by the way she and her partner communicated in detail with me, well in advance of our trip, regarding some specific medical-related requirements.
