Williamsburg is often called the new East Village! When living in the East Village became too expensive for the creative and artsy types ... they decided to pack their bags and move across the river to Williamsburg. Full of trendy bars, restaurants, breweries (Brooklyn Brewery), vintage shops and more ... theres more than enough for you to enjoy during your stay! You can even borrow one of our bicycles and explore everything this beautiful neighborhood has to offer! Best of all, if you get tired of the "Burg" you're just a few short stops away from downtown Manhattan!

  • Felipe is a swell guy in an awesome part of Brooklyn. If you're looking for a place where you can explore and have a place to go back to for sleep and general relaxing, this is the place. My partner and I found his place perfect, it has lots of natural lighting, literally two minutes from the L line, and offers a lot of different places for entertainment. If you want a place where you can escape tourist ravaged Manhattan, then this place will fulfill your needs, especially considering the trendiness of the area. No complaints from us.

  • Felipe was a wonderful host from beginning to end. He was easy to communicate with and plan our stay in Brooklyn. His apartment is close to subway, easy to transfer down to Manhattan. The apartment was clean and up to date. We had our own room and he also provided us with a blow up mattress. Thank you Felipe for welcoming us into your home!

  • Felipe was a great host, super welcoming and helpful. The apartment is beautiful, bright and cozy and has everything you need. Williamsburg is the place to be, a lot of restaurants, bars, shops and stores close by. And if you still want to go to Manhattan, the L-Train is just one block away and takes you there directly. I had a great time at Felipe's place, highly recommended!!!!

  • I needed an apartment for a 6 days vacation in NYC, and after looking at apartments it finally came down to Felipe's apartment and another apartment. To tell you the truth - I regret not taking the other apartment instead of this one. Maybe it was because Felipe was on vacation at the time and Lisa, the girl who filled his place, was not responsible, but anyway - it was a really bad experience, and for that ammount of money I could have gotten a much better apartment.

On my first night I tried locking the door from the outside and it didn't work. Finally when I succeed locking it, I couldn't unlock it. I was stuck outside of the apartment with no equipment, without even a coat. I'm from a different country so I also couldn't call anyone on the phone. Luckily the neighbour from upstairs helped me and after a while managed to unlock the door. Other than that - there were dirty dishes in the kitchen, there was dirt on the kitchen counter, and the toilet was not very clean.

The next day I tried to open the closet were I kept all my clothes - Suprise, that didn't open as well! Again I had to call the neighbour from upstairs, who had to get a knife and play with the closet's door until it finally opened. from then on I left it open for the remaining days and didn't close it so it won't get stuck again.

And the most important part - The heating in the bedroom didn't work. I stayed there during the end of January, it was cold. I had to sleep with a thermal shirt and pants, and sometimes with a sweatshirt on top.

On my last day there, I had to leave my luggage in the apartment because my flight was late at night, so I arranged they'll I'll pick them up in the evening even though another person will be already renting the apartment. When I got there in the evening to get the luggage, the guy asked me if I know by any chance where he can find clean towels. Apparently he didn't even meet Lisa, she just left him the keys to the apartment at a grocery store nearby.

Again, I recommend for you NOT to rent this apartment. There are plenty of other options, some even for the same price.

    Response from Felipe:

Elad, I would like to extend my sincerest apologies for your less than satisfactory stay. I recognize that I should have done a little more to make your stay more comfortable while I was away. It was my first time renting out the room in the apartment while I was away on vacation and this is my first negative review.

I really strive to keep my apartment clean, provide clean towels, make excellent recommendations for things to do in the area AND make entering and leaving as easy as possible. Regarding the lack of heat, issues with the closet and trickiness with the lock, it's important to note that the apartment, like many buildings in NYC are upwards of 80 years old and have their quirks. I felt like I had left good instructions with any of these quirks but I apologize if they weren't up to par I wish I could have been there to help you and make your experience much nicer.

If you have any other suggestions or comments on how I can improve my Airbnb apartment please feel free to email me. I have really enjoyed the Airbnb experience and all the friendships I've made through it. Moving forward I will not rent the apartment out without being there. This has been a learning experience for sure and I appreciate your honesty.

  • I stayed at Felipe's place for a week and had a great experience. The room is very comfortable and great value. The apartment is spacious and I found nothing wrong with anything. Felipe himself if very welcoming, and knows all the best spots in Brooklyn to eat and hang out. I will definitely be returning to Felipe's next time I am in the city.

  • Booked a private bedroom for my co-worker who was coming into NYC from our Uganda office. Felipe was super helpful, quick to respond, very accommodating and easy to coordinate with, and the place was clean, comfortable, nice and in a great neighborhood just one block from the subway. I highly recommend the place!

I'm 29 years old an most people would say I'm outgoing, social and friendly. I moved to Brooklyn from Washington, D.C about 4 years ago and have loved every minute of it! Like most people on AirBnb I love to travel, learn about new cultures and meet fun and interesting people. I like to be as much a part of my guests experiences as they like. I'm more than happy to walk you around the area or leave you be if you like to explore on your own. I own a boutique tour company called Get Up and Ride that organizes sightseeing tours in Brooklyn on bikes and adventure tours around the county. In Brooklyn, we offer a variety of different tours that give our guests a locals perspective of this great borough and use beautiful and comfortable European style bikes.
