The Space

Alfama River I is a 1-bedroom, air-conditioned, 4th floor apartment with truly magnificent views of the expansive river Tagus estuary, and suitable for up to 4-5 guests.

This clean & modern property, renovated in 2009, is in a traditional building in the historic Alfama district in the heart of central Lisbon, located next to the Santa Apolonia Metro/Train station for convenient transport facilities. Nestled amongst the cobbled streets, picturesque squares and traditional Fado restaurants of the charming Alfama district, ample natural light enters from the full-length French windows and balconies, illuminating the soft pine wood tones and opal colour accents, to create a fresh and breezy interior with some truly superb river views.

We offer free broadband Wi-Fi Internet, and all mod-cons such as cable TV, washing machine, dish-washer, heating & air-conditioning.

This is a non-smoking apartment and one of a four in the same building. All apartments have the same space and facilities and can be rented together if you have a large group.

The building is located right next to the traditional Alfama district, and is literally just 2 minutes walk from the Santa Apolonia Metro & Train Station. Looking to the west, the Cristo Rei statue across the river in Almada can be seen from both the living room and bedroom windows.

From here, it is just a short walk to major sights such as the National Pantheon - where the famous fado singer Amalia rodrigues is buried - and which is just round the corner, the Fado Museum, Lisbon Castle and Lisbon Cathedral, together with the central squares of Rossio and Praça do Comércio, and the wonderful 'miradouros' (viewpoints) of Alfama, like the Portas do Sol, and Miradouro Santa Luzia.

This area has plenty of cafeterias, bars, traditional fado restaurants, as well as the small village-type shops typical of Alfama. In the Santa Apolonia station just 150 metres away there is a 'Pingo Doce' supermarket and just opposite the station there is a Chemist's (pharmacy). On the opposite side of the main road, next to the river, there is a large open-air car park which charges approx. 5 Euro per day.

  • Did not meet the Owner, Roger. Our arrival at the apartment coincided with that of at least one other guest, which made for a somewhat chaotic and very abbreviated intro to the apartment and its appliances by the apartment manager - by the way, the AC was not working, but it was fixed within one day.

    Hi Mario,

    Sorry I wasn't able to meet you but as you know, our property manager Mauro was responsible for your check-in which is normally after 3pm, but since you wanted an early check-in, Mauro did his best with the limited time available.
    The A/C was working, it's just that it wasn't plugged in. Sorry that we didn't realise this beforehand, but it was easy to solve.
