Just prior to arrival in New York our host advised us that the apartment we had originally booked had a leak and would not be remedied in time so he moved us to another apartment. So although I can't rate the original apartment I must say that the new apartment, although I think older, was in a great location and had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. We were met on arrival and had everything about the apartment explained clearly. I mentioned that the new apartment didn't have a microwave and one was there waiting for us when we returned from our first days outing. The apartment was clean, quiet and had great heating which was very important as we were there when temperatures were at an all time low. All appliances were in working order and there was a laundry in the basement. Endy responded quickly and helpfully to any enquiries I had prior to and during our stay.
We felt this was a very unprofessional letting. The signs were there early when we did not get responses from Endy to our emails, despite his website claiming responses 'within 24 hours'. The day before our arrival in NYC, we were advised the advertised apartment had some problems, so we were switched to another apartment. On arrival, we were met not by Endy but by his friend, who was still cleaning it when we arrived. His friend did not know the wi-fi details for the apartment. We were a little put off when we were asked to concoct a story about the whereabouts of Endy and the owner of the apartment, Alex, if anyone came to the door looking for them!
But the worst was yet to come. The apartment had a slow leak of gas, such that we had to sleep with the windows open for fear of asphyxiation, and given this was during the big freeze, with temps at night down to 0 degF, this resulted in our getting colds as well as nausea. Again, Endy couldn't be contacted by phone and refused to reimburse part of our fee afterwards. We in fact never got to meet the guy.
If this is representative of Airbnb's listings in NYC, we won't be using them again.
The apartment we have been was clean and very well located. The central heating is a bit loud, but we didn't care much, as it heated the place perfectly. The bed was good for me and my doughter, while my other doughter slept on the sofa. She didn't complain.
It was easy to communicate with Endy and he attended to our needs promptly, if we had some. Overall, we enjoyed our stay!!!!!
Thank you Endy!
Endy was really accommodating! The communication was easy. The apartment was great, good location and clean. Endy was really nice and adjusted to our needs for out stay. Great over all experience !
I did not select Endy’s apartment for my one week stay in NYC. It was not until the night before my arrival from California that I learned that there was a leak at the place I had picked and was therefore being moved from 54th Street to E’s on 47th. Given my flight restrictions, I accepted the new arrangements and made my way to E’s.
We had been in telephone contact; so he was there to meet me and was most gracious. For example, I learned that night that there was no way to have the refrigerator’s freezer make ice. By the next day Endy delivered a new ice cube tray for me.
Realtors say “Location, Location, Location.” That’s certainly true for E’s apartment; it was perfect for me: close to 9th Avenue and a bevy of stores & restaurants; only one block from two theaters, one of which I played to attend; a short walk to Times Square; convenient for both the subway and the busses. An absolutely great location.
Unfortunately, the apartment itself left much to be desired. Entry to it was at the end of a dingy, depressing hallway. The hot water pipes for the entire house are not insulated and run through each of the rooms. I could not get the temperature below 80 degrees, and that was uncomfortable, especially for sleeping. It must be brutal during the summer. Additionally, the interior suffers from a lack of furnishings. The essentials, of course, are there, but $500 spent on good towel sets, a couple of chairs, some posters for the walls, a decent coffee maker, some nice drapes, perhaps a desk would make this a much more pleasant place to stay.
Place was OK. Good location. Kind of difficult arranging things with the host. Problems getting the key arrival and then again on checkout. Some of the things in the apartment didn't work. Fair experience. Had an issue with having to supply way too much personal information. I never could tell if that was host or Airbnb. The place seemed to be a sub sub let with some kind of management company...definitely not the kind of personal experience and touch I had with another Airbnb place a few weeks earlier. Was surprised with extra charges asked for upon arrival; not a nice thing to hear in the middle of the night upon arrival. And oh, bring your own soap and toiletries, none provided.
My brother and I recently stayed in this great apartment for 10 nights. The location was ideal, as it was very close to Times Square, Central Park, etc....the apartment itself was clean and tidy and perfect for what we were requiring. Bastien was very pleasant and provided us with his details if we need any info or advice on NYC! Overall I feel that this apartment perfectly epitomised what living in central New York would be like and I would definitely stay here again when returning to NYC!!!

The location of this apartment is ideal. It's within a few minutes walk to Time Square and its theaters. The apartment was quiet. It's nice to have an elevator to the 4th floor too.
My criticism is that the communication with E was somewhat difficult. I didn't hear from him often a day or more after i left an email. He was out of town so i never saw him.
The apartment wasn't as clean as i had hoped. There was mold in the shower and the floors weren't as clean as they could have been.
After i left the apartment, i stayed at a nearby hotel for a night. I wish i had stayed there the whole time. It was cleaner, nicely furnished, and cheaper.
The apartment is great with easy access to a 24 grocery store at the corner. It was also a nice surprise to find a whole foods 5-6 blocks away at Columbus circle. This will be a definite return for mid-town Manhattan.
