Interaction with Guests
I will be available for any questions, but won't be present in the houseboat.
This lovely houseboat is is well located in a neighborhood called “Oud West”. It’s just a short walk from many restaurants, cafes and shops, and within walking distance of Dam square
The neighborhood is the perfect base for experiencing all that Amsterdam has to offer with it's fantastic cafes, restaurants, coffee shops and bars. Oud West is a vibrant multicultural area and is located very close to the city centre. From your doorstep it's just a 2 minute walk to the area of "Jordaan", that oozes atmosphere with its narrow streets, picturesque canals, brown cafes, art galleries and unique shops.
The city center is on walking distance.
If you don't feel like walking, there is a tram stop around the corner, so the city center and the airport are easy to reach.
Unfortunately parking is quite expensive in our neighborhood, but if you don't need your car during your stay I can recommend cheaper places on the border of town.
If you are interested in renting a bicycle during your stay let me know. I can have them delivered to the houseboat for you.

Super easy transactions and exchanges with Annelies. The accommodations were exactly as advertised and perfect for our needs. We are a family of four traveling with a 7 and 9 year old and Houseboat Aviva was a great home base for us while in Amsterdam. It is located close to everything we wanted to do, but away from the crowds. Unlike when staying at a hotel, we love having space to relax and a kitchen for kids meals/breakfast. And staying on a houseboat (vs an apartment) was a unique and singular experience! We highly recommend.
Annelies was incredibly helpful in her communications and followed up with us a few times before our arrival. We were met at the houseboat (given very helpful and detailed directions of how to get there) and showed around the boat and how to work everything. Also given maps and info about the area. Very quick and easy to get to Dam, two metro stops within 5 mins walk. Easy walk to Anne Frank House. Supermarkets, restaurants, coffee shops all within 5 mins walk. A terrific houseboat - very family friendly, great location and wonderful host! Definitely recommend and would stay here again.
We arrived early morning and were personally met at the houseboat with the keys and instructions which was such a nice arrangement for our family of four (two children). The houseboat is very conveniently located to restaurants, the tram and also an easy walk to museums, Jordaan and also central/historic sites of the city. The kids enjoyed watching the light play on the water and the ducks passing by (no feeding them, however - because they get used to handouts and will come and wake you up in the morning, we were told!) The boat was clean, well-equipped and had more than enough space for all of us.
I stayed here with friends and we all had a great time. The boat itself is very roomy, comfortable and clean, the kitchen facilities are excellent, and there is a fairly large floating platform with table and chairs joined to the boat where you can sit outside and watch the ducks and the occasional boat float by.
The local area has a nice relaxed vibe, there are some excellent restaurants and bars nearby, and one of the reliably good Albert Heijn supermarkets on the other side of the canal.
The staff of the rental agency were very kind and helpful.
All in all, well worth a stay.
Amazing place. Very convenient to local museums and shops. All the conveniences of home - washer/dryer and dishwasher.
Il quartiere è ottimo con una vicina fermata del tram con cui si raggiunge il centro in pochi minuti.
We had a lovely three nights stay on Aviva Houseboat. We had a very warm welcome by host who gave us some great ideas of places to visit and nearest tram stop etc.
The Houseboat was clean and tidy, albeit the decor and furniture was a little tired, as mentioned in other reviews. Clean linen and towels all great, good kitchen amenities with tea and coffee very welcome! Wifi worked well as did central heating.
It was very sunny while we were staying, so we wanted to make good use of the floating terrace. Unfortunately, we had to climb out of one of the small bedroom windows, which proved too difficult for older member of our party. The photo shows the terrace alongside the wider sitting room windows which is now not where it is located.
Very close to tram stops and supermarkets and coffee shops. The canal was relatively quiet, the only noise came from the road (the houseboat is located near the bridge)
We have never stayed on a houseboat before and it was such a good stay we would stay again. Thank you
