With its beautiful Alsatian red walls, this house stands out in the centre of the pretty village of Sewen, opposite the church and on the banks of the River Doller, which flows down from Ballon d'Alsace. The village's flower-covered facades, old coloured houses and old café lend it an air of charm. This former shepherd's house has been converted into a country holiday home. Although rather small, it is very comfortable and practical with its living room, dining room and open-plan kitchen. Four bedrooms and two bathrooms are spread between the ground and first floors, and the house can sleep up to 8 people. Behind the house is a terrace with garden furniture, barbecue and solarium. An ideal location, at the foot of Ballon d'Alsace, near the Alfeld and Sewen lakes, for walkers and hikers all the year round.

Bénédicte and Jean-Jacques made our stay very easy - fast communications, everything we could need was in the apartment, and great recommendations for the area. And after a day of skiing, the hot tub was a must! If you go in winter and plan to hit the slopes, just make sure you have snow tyres or a set of chains.

We had excellent communication with Benedicte and Jean-Jacques. The house exceeded all of our expectations The old shepherd's hut in the middle of the village of Sewen has been stylishly renovated - inside and out. It is so well designed and decorated that it is a pleasure to be in it. The surprisingly spacious interior is filled with light and sunshine throughout the day. The timber deck with deckchairs and the gravelled outside eating area border the little river that rushes past two sides of the house. All modern amenities have been supplied and there are no hidden 'extras'. The setting of the house complements it beautifully - the little river with its soothing rushing, the beautiful church next door and its ding-dong counting of the time, the brass band practice on Saturday afternoons in front of the fire station, the friendly villagers, and the beautiful hills surrounding the village. The gite is ideally situated for those who love walking. There are walks of varying lengths and difficulty level from the Sewen, neighbouring villages and Le Ballon d'Alsace. We suggest that walkers purchase the Blue Cart de Randonnee Map 3620ET for Thann, Masevaux and Ballon d'Alsace. We had a wonderful week in the gite, in Sewen and in the Doller Valley. We highly recommend this village and valley as a holiday destination and the gite as an excellent place in which to say.

The House was nice, calm and clean. Perfect, very comfortable bathrooms and good bedrooms. Everything was there needed, even a raclette and a salad spin was in the clean and well equipped kitchen. The hot tub was really hot and it was wonderful to take a hot bath in the snow-covered landscape. Thank you again very much for this wonderful week!

We had a great holiday in the quiet village of Sewen. The house is newly decorated and maintained to a high standard and the hot tub was amazing. There is no shops around but a few kms down the road there are plenty of supermarkets. There are also nice hiking routes just around the corner. The hosts are very welcoming and they phoned me on the second day to check if everything was alright. We enjoyed the trip very much and we'd definitely like to come back.

Bénédicte & Jean-Jacques User ProfileBénédicte & Jean-Jacques is a superhost.

We were born and raised in Alsace and love to share the beauty of our region with our guests. We have a corn farm and are living in the middle of the Alsace plain, minutes away from Germany and Switzerland.
We love to provide the best tips to our guests : restaurants, villages to visit and wineries.

Please don't hesitate to ask us about Alsace !
