The space
At El Alma A-Frame we want you to reconnect with your soul and be the place you rest your adventuring hat after a long day of enjoying the mountains. Designed with a "slower" pace in mind, our hope is that you enjoy every part of your stay; from making coffee {drip or pour-over}, to a cocktail in the evening lounging and listening to a record from our collection, or having a soak in the hot tub to sooth your tired muscles, or simply taking in the sunset overlooking the pines and watching the wildlife that meander through the valley {moose! fox! deer!} .

There is one bedroom downstairs with a queen bed, an upper level bedroom with a king bed with the most incredible views in the house! Also upstairs you will find an additional twin bed tucked under the peak of the “A” in A-frame, and an additional folding twin bed if needed. It’s the perfect respite for a group of friends, one or two couples, and of course small families. While we love young children, our home has breakables, stairs and a fireplace that is hot to the touch so we aren't set up for little ones under the age of 10. The two story A-frame ensures there is plenty of space for everyone. El Alma is clean, warm and inviting. We provide you with amenities like shampoo, conditioner, body wash and a hair dryer. A fully stocked kitchen offers you the opportunity to cook {plenty of spices and oils}, and we also offer fluffy towels, blankets, pillows and board games. We have extra toiletries should you forget something and are just too cozy to go to town. There is a Smart TV with Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon in the downstairs living area. Full size washer/dryer on the main level. Your dog(s) are more than welcome, but we ask that you promptly clean up their poo in the fenced yard.

The decor of El Alma is Mountain Modern with a mix of some vintage and local finds thrown in for character. It’s always evolving and may be different next time you visit!

Other things to note
*WINTER INFO & 4WD/AWD*
We DO REQUIRE 4-wheel drive during the winter months, as you would expect in any mountain environment. The county roads are maintained and plowed as is the driveway. However, it is very steep and may not be accessible without AWD or 4WD. We have a reliable plow service but plowing isn’t immediate, we are on the rotation after snowfall is 4 inches. Please plan accordingly. I highly recommend renting a vehicle through Turo and I am happy to specifically recommend a vehicle I personally rent when I fly to El Alma. A Jeep Wrangler works well in my opinion.

*Elevation*
Alma, Colorado is proudly the USAs highest incorporated town sitting at over 10,000 feet. El Alma A-frame is also at this elevation. What you can expect varies for everyone, but slight headaches, getting easily winded and some mild sleep disruption is common. My best recommendation is to HYDRATE as much as possible and take some Advil and maybe an extra nap. That usually does the trick.

*Connecting with Your Soul*
Part of the beauty of El Alma A-Frame is that while super close to world class resorts, it's also peacefully in the middle of a quiet valley. We hope you understand that while the cabin is adorable and cozy, it is still a cabin from the 1970s in the woods. What this means is: sensitive septic system, well water (delicious and icy cold), no trash pickup. We don't expect our guests to do anything out of the ordinary except be conscious of these things. Don't over-use water, do not flush anything but toilet paper, and keep all your trash inside so that bears and other wildlife are not tempted to visit. The cleaners will remove trash upon check-out. The cabin is older, and imperfect and that’s what makes it special :)

Neighborhood highlights

El Alma A-Frame is about a 5 minute drive to the little yet awesome town of Alma and just a few minutes more to Fairplay. 20 minutes the other direction is Breckenridge (then Dillon, Frisco and Silverthorne). We are located in Placer Valley surrounded by other adorable cabins on both sides of the Middle Fork of the Lower Platte River (long name for a beautiful river). During the Summer you can hike, fish, fly-fish and picnic right out the front door. The Montgomery Reservoir is just about 2 miles up the road and a PERFECT spot for sunset watching. I believe this valley is special and magical and I think you will understand after your visit what I mean :). My favorite thing to do after my morning coffee is take the dogs for a walk around the river out front. There is always something new to see, from wildlife, to the Aspens glow, to the frosty pines in winter. It's a beautiful and ideal way to start your day.

Don't leave without hitting up Otto's food cart in Alma. The BLT is the best this side of the Continental Divide.

Nice to meet y'all! I'm Anna and I'm a native Chicagoan who has lived in Austin, TX for 16 years now. Two of my properties are typically mid-term rentals in Austin, and the cabin is my STR in Alma, Colorado. I'm a co-parent of a 17 year old son and we have 2 dogs (Tater and Iris). Professionally I'm a realtor, investor and house rehabber. Personally, I'm an outdoor enthusiast with a passion for skiing, hiking, swimming in cool water, admiring sunsets and rises, planning the next big adventure, traveling, eating good food, drinking good wine, hanging out with loved ones, working out, seeing live music, listening to podcasts, watching documentaries and trying my hand at plant-parenthood. I love hosting guests and hope you enjoy my design aesthetic and attention to detail. I am so grateful to have y'all stay in my homes :)
