A one bedroom private suite with a private bath, walk in closet and an accompanying porch
Minutes from Zilker Park, downtown, public transportation, shopping districts, popular South Congress and two freeways.
There's no kitchen, but there is a small frig and a microwave for your use on the porch.
If you smoke, you can do so on the porch only.
The location is ideal, the neighbors are friendly, hip and welcoming. Bars, restaurants, and shops are within walking distance. It's a quiet neighborhood all day and night. The neighborhood has the convenience of close-in location, with the attraction of a quiet South Austin cul-de-sac, in the middle of the 78704 zip code.
. Come and look and see if you like it. Everybody does.
There are frequent buses down Lamar, and its easy to bike from my hood.
For the budget-conscious, I am walking distance from Maria's Taco Express that has cheap, really good breakfast tacos and free live music.
My guests have access to the porch and the bedroom suite. If they need a parking space, I will park on the street and let them use my spot to get off-street. I have a washer and dryer and will wash the sheets and towels weekly. Usually, I have allowed my tenants to use my washer/dryer fo their own clothes.
I am a very friendly, people-oriented person and I have enjoyed the interaction with guests and have usually had time for socialization and sharing a meal. I have lived in Austin since 1975 and can usually refer my guests to appropriate services, doctors, restaurants, hip spots, etc.
I think this is the best neighborhood I have lived in ever, and I have lived in some pretty great spots (Cambridge , Massachusetts, in the early 70's off Harvard Square, Amherst , Massachusetts where I went to college, two years in Washington , DC (least hip spot IMHO) I have also lived in over a half dozen places in Austin. Here, I have the best neighbors, easy access to Zilker Park and the Barton Creek Greenbelt. While the traffic seems to get noticeably worst on a monthly basis, with my various backstreet shortcuts, I can still get downtown in less the fifteen minutes during rush hour.

Susannah is a warm and wonderful hostess. She was helpful in getting me acquainted with Austin (I'm new here), taking me out for a tour, a happy hour and generally pointing me around. She has been consistently attentive to any needs I have here. The room is large, includes a private bathroom and closet, ceiling fan and ac/heat, but has no kitchen of its own (although Susannah seemed more than willing to let me use the house kitchen, if I needed to do so). The bed is super comfortable, and the outside living room is right outside the door, and a nice place to hang out. The neighborhood is peaceful, and friendly and only a couple of blocks from the main drag of Lamar Street, with shops and restaurants, etc. Downtown is about a 2 mile walk/drive and easy to access.
I would heartily recommend Susannah as a hostess, and this room, to anyone needing a place to stay in Austin.
Was a great place to stay for Austin City Limits, the bus stop is a 5 minute walk and the neighbourhood is cool. Great host and overall a top first experience using Air BnB!
