550 sq foot, 1 bdr/ 1 bath single-family home, was a Tailor’s Shop in 1880, where the Tailor built his family home next door. Officially, in the National Registry the home is the John and Isabella Gibson house. We have painstakingly restored every inch of both buildings and we garnered the Utah Heritage Foundation Award in 2008 for our restoration work. The house is located in the lower Avenues minutes from downtown Salt Lake City, the University of Utah campus and three area hospitals and is in walking distance of several fabulous local restaurants and coffee shops.
This quant cottage comes completely furnished and includes a claw-footed tub, full kitchen, fireplace, and private entrances. The main room includes a double bed. This is the first neighborhood in SLC. The homes in the Avenues are protected in the National Historic Registry. Lots of great architecture to see. Easy to walk, very friendly well kept neighborhood. Many who live in this area are transplants and work either for the University of Utah or one of the many hospitals in the area. So, it is very eclectic and bohemian (for Salt Lake).
You may park on the left hand side of our driveway, just beyond the sidewalk. Bus transportation is very close on P Street and 3rd Avenue. From the Airport, if you take North Temple straight into downtown, when North temple crosses State Street it turns into 2nd Avenue. Just continue on 2nd Avenue until P Street. We are on the NE Corner of 2nd and P.
Lots of restaurants are in walking distance. Cucina Deli, Avenues Bistro, Sawadee, Wild Grape, Einsteins, Saffron Valley, Aristo's, and Market Street.

Our stay at the Avenues Charmer was wonderful. Fantastically clean and well thought out use of the small space. Jennifer and her husband's hospitality was greatly appreciated, and we will for sure stay there again on our next visit.
What a fantastic place. This little cottage plays bigger than the pictures suggest. The loft accommodations (in addition to the bed) are a lot of fun. Jim and Jen are great hosts. And so is Ike the chihuahua!
The neighborhood is beautiful. It's called the "Avenues" area of SLC and its chocked full of stylish cottages and bungalows. Definitely worth a walk around. And don't miss Cucina, an excellent little restaurant and deli a few blocks a way.
All in all a really wonderful experience with easy access to ski slopes and hiking areas (it was about 30-40 minutes to Snowbird/Alta).
Hope to come back soon!
My girlfriend and I rented Jennifer's place for Valentines weekend and it was a great experience.
We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Jennifer was even able to accommodate us for an additional night with just an hours notice after we had an unexpected flight delay back to California.
We will almost certainly be coming again sometime.
This was my first experience with airbnb and it was delightful. Great place, great location, great hosts who responded to my rental request within minutes.
My girlfriend came to visit me in Salt Lake City and we rented Jen's beautiful little cottage in the historic Avenues area. It cost us less to rent this place than a hotel would've cost and it was ten thousand times more private than any hotel would've been on Valentines weekend.
We would and likely WILL stay again.
Very nice place! We had 3 people and we all fit comfortably. The location is also very good, with access to downtown and the University, and not too far from skiing locations. We definitely recommend this place to anyone staying in the area.
Wonderful space in Salt lake City! My husband and I stayed for three nights and could have stayed for many more. Located in the beautiful Avenues, the private house is cozy and has everything you need to feel like you're at home. Highly recommended!
This was our second stay here and it was perfect. Jennifer goes above and beyond...we already feel like this cozy little cottage will always be our 'go to' place in Salt Lake City!!
This home is as charming as stated, Jennifer was friendly and helpful. It was a perfect place for us.
Our first Airbnb experience with Jennifer was a fantastic one. The space was beautiful, comfortable, and had everything you could need for a great stay. Jennifer and her husband were friendly and offered helpful tips during our stay in SLC.
Believe everything you read, the studio is amazing. My boyfriend and I stayed overnight after a long day of skiing. Location is great, about 35 minutes from Snowbird and Alta. Space is cozy, bright and full of very cool updated technologies ( USB wall plug! ) . Jen was such a great host! The place was so great we tried to cancel our $400 hotel room in Snowbird to come back! We would love to come back again.
