Dragon Fly, as it is affectionately called. is am amazingly private, quiet, and serene home located on the North East Cape Fear river, about 25 minutes from Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach.
Built in 2002 by the current owner as a vacation home, this home is the ultimate getaway. A brand new cooks kitchen, massive deck and screened in porch face the river, and a projector + 10' screen for screening films help to make this place very special. The home boasts 5 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms, with an extra large jacuzzi and walk in shower in the master. Nearly every piece of furniture is antique (circa 1900) and most of the art is from local artists. Feel free to take the canoe out or take a quiet walk around the adjacent pond to view the many animals and foliage that call this region home.
The property comes with caretaker in the event of questions or additional needs. A cook and cleaning service can also be arranged.
We are open to entertaining a longer term lease for those that may be interested.
Thank you very much for your interest.
We had a wonderful week at "Dragonfly" and were all so sad to leave. Such a beautiful spot by the river, we spent several very happy days and nights fishing, canoeing and sitting around the camp fire eating s'mores and looking at the stars. It was perfect for our group of 5 adults and 2 children, who now officially call it their "dream home"! It provided a great base to explore North Carolina and I know we'll all have happy memories of our time there.
Many thanks to Aaron for his quick, courteous and friendly responses, and for providing us with all the information we needed to have a superb vacation. We'd love to come back!
Where oh where do I begin?!
Between Aaron and the Dragonfly's caretaker, Harry, my little family was treated like family. Every single request was met, from making sure we had specific groceries waiting for us, to speedy responses when the propane tank needed replacing or we just couldn't figure out the projector remote.
The house is special. Aside from being lovely and spacious, settled right up to the water on a beautiful piece of property, it just "feels" good. Stocked to the rafters full of every creature comfort imaginable, my son and I were able to cook many meals and pop a few bottles of wine while the girls spent their days exploring.
We grilled, we played pool, darts, and board games. My nephew built a most impressive campfire. The fire pit is awesome! We ate s'mores, told stories, and watched scary movies. In short, we bonded. After amazing days on the river, we cleaned up with long showers or jet baths, and slept soundly in cozy beds in fresh linens and plenty of extra blankets and pillows. We wanted for nothing.
We didn't watch TV, we didn't get online, we didn't spend any time in town. We didn't need or want to! We did take the canoes and paddled down the river until we found a great log to jump off of - over and over. That was fun. I highly recommend you go outside and PLAY.
If we could have stayed longer, we would have. We'd love to come back! Aaron was a perfect host and gent - personable, and as generous as he could possibly be. I can say with all certainty - we will never forget our very special Easter weekend at the Dragonfly house.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for having us!
The Dragonfly house was perfect for a girls weekend! The house is pretty remote but as long as thats what youre looking for there is no where better. All the amenities are wonderful (kitchen, bathrooms, etc.) and the house slept all 10 of us very comfortably!! Couldnt recommend it more
Peaceful environment, great place for a girls weekend! Aaron was very flexible and a pleasure to work with!
The Dragonfly house was awesome! We all had a great time. The house is beautiful and very welcoming and warm. Lots of room for 10 people! You should absolutely consider staying here! It's only a short 2 hour drive from RDU, easy to find, and very convenient. This is the place to stay if you're looking for a get-away in the "woods" but with all the modern amenities. Thanks Aaron!
The location, view, and the house was gorgeous. We had a wonderful time canoeing and enjoying the river views.
