Master bedroom with private deck and hot tub - Nature inspired -there is grass cloth on the ceiling to give the feel of being in a jungle tropical treehouse.
Escape to Sun Valley and this soul pad retreat with character. Nestled away near a park so it's quiet (birds sing even in the winter!), yet walking distance to town. With the 5 min. free bus to skiing, you can come without a car. Beautiful new maple hardwood floors, granite counter tops, accented with art and treasures from over 20 years of globetrotting.
There is nothing better than YOUR OWN PRIVATE HOT TUB on the upper deck, right off the master bedroom. Your white robes are waiting. You can see the milky way and the Sun Valley firework shows. When was the last time you slept in a WATERBED? This ain't your college waterbed, though, as this has waveless baffles and a support floatation mattress on top, and Egyptian cotton 500 ct sheets. Warm and snuggly in the winter, and so comfortable, you won't be able to get out in the morning.
Ok, for a hot tub and morning coffee maybe? There is grass cloth on the ceiling to give the feeling of being in a tropical jungle treehouse. Watch the snow fall on the trees without getting out of bed.
The downstairs bedroom has a private patio for snow entry and covered gear storage if you like. I hope you enjoy my home as much as I do.
Shoes off please - these are brand new hard wood floors. Keep snow from shoes on entry carpets, not on the wood, because snow turns to water which ruins hard wood floors.
Please shower before entering hot tub - and be respectful (you know what I mean).
My brother and I were able to stay in "The Soul Pad" in Ketchum, Idaho. The place was great, we loved it and we loved our trip. Thia was nothing but accommodating and nice. Very communicative throughout the trip if we had a question or needed some advice. She was so nice that after leaving Idaho and her place and getting back home, I felt the need to thank her and let her know we had such a great time and that we got home safe. "Thia thank you for everything, and I hope we left it as neat as when we first arrived! We just got home, sorry we didn't get to bump into each other" I thought that was it, a perfect bookend to a perfect trip with my brother. Her response, though, was surprising. "House looked great, but what happened in the hot tub?" This question was surprising because nothing happened. We used it twice the whole trip, for maybe a combined 45 minutes. We followed her instructions, we relaxed, we got out. That was it. So she says to us, what happened in the hot tub? Do I have a hot tub at home? Am I an expert? No. She sent me a picture, and to me, it looked like any hot tub I have ever seen, but she claimed water quality is the issue. I did not see it. Regardless, all of this is to bring up that Thia requested $100 after the fact to clean the hot tub water and since that did not satisfy her, to completely replace the water. She requested $100 from me and I do not believe that the hot tub was used irregularly, if anything it was used exactly as she asked. She requested this money AFTER the 48 hours Airbnb allows. She does not have a cleaning fee in her listing. So did we break anything? Was there any damage? No, she is claiming dirty water. Were we responsible for using the hot tub? Obviously, but people vacation and people use hot tubs. The real issue I had, despite the $100 request, is that I felt like Thia may have been blackmailing me slightly. I know it sounds ridiculous, but in her request, she said, "if you help to make it 'like it never happened', then I will give you a good review "like it never happened"." I felt like she was asking me for hush money for a good review and that made me uncomfortable. I shouldn't have to be asked to accept blame and send payment just to get a good review. After her request, I said to her, "If it is alright with you Thia, I would feel more comfortable working with Air BnB as a mediator to decide what is to be done... I would have no problem doing whatever they decide is the right course...," but she didn't see that as rational, so now I unfortunately have a bad review; I'll live with...
The "Soul Pad" was fantastic. Exactly as described. I had a car, so I don't know about transportation, but it was maybe 6 minutes to River Run and Warm Springs is even closer. GREAT ski pad!!!
The Soul Pad was fantastic! Thia was so very gracious, responsive, and cool. She went above and beyond to accommodate us. My family of four absolutely loved this place. It was clean with so much character and charm. The location couldn't be better. We were able to easily walk into town to experience all of Ketchum and the property abutted a huge park from a local school so the kids were able to play in between adventures:) If you are heading to SV for a romantic get away or family vacay, summer or winter-the soul pad is the spot! Thank you Thia!-We'll be back:) (Next time for the romantic getaway)
Hostess was wonderful and very helpful! If there were any issues or questions she responded immediately. She was planting flowers as we arrived! Nice touch! House was as described, very funky place. There is a awesome little park right in the back yard for frisbee, dog walking, soccer....
House is right on the pathway and an easy walk to town, no need to drive. Easy access to mountain bike trails and road riding.
Though neighbors are close they were very nice and very quite, even on 4th of July.
A wonderful place to stay in a gorgeous Valley.
Kitchen has everything you need, even a juicer!
What a wonderful stay at the Soul Pad. It lived up to all my expectations. Convenient to town, extremely comfortable, and just as fun and funky as it looks in the photos. Thia was a gracious and considerate host, and I can't wait to go back!
It was a pleasure to stay at Thia's house. We had a very warm welcome and Thia was very helpful. The house ist beautifully decorated, absolutely clean and we felt instantely at home. Very good location in beautiful Ketchum!
I grew up in California, but I fell in love with Ketchum 18 years ago. Living in a place where there are more stars in the sky than city lights, and you can walk/bike everywhere feeds my soul. I live to snowboard in powder, and in between enjoy hiking, cross country skiing, paragliding, mountain biking, and rollerblading. I'm a world traveling artist/photographer, and have a photography studio/gallery in town where I show my personal work, called Photos Do Not Bend. I also shoot weddings, kids, and family portraits. I love hot springs and hot tubs (who doesn't?), live music, and laughing with friends.
