I had an enjoyable experience staying at Seung-hee's place. Located in between 2 stations about 15 mins by foot, but if you don't mind taking the walk, riding the bus, or paying for a cab, then it shouldn't be a problem. Her family is kind and her mother is a sweet person to stay with!
The home was spacious and my room got good light. The bed was comfortable too. The host was very friendly and whipped up a delicious Korean breakfast in the mornings. The house is a bit of a walk (20min) from Sadang and Bangbae subway stations, but there are local buses you can catch nearby that run maybe every 15min to those stations, maybe less frequently late at night?
I stayed in this house on october (phone number hidden), autumn season.
Getting there. Before my trip, the host provided very detailed instructions with pictures as to how you can find the house. They even offered to pick me up at the airport bus station. It is an hour away from the airport by the limousine bus and very easy to find.
Location. The house is at a very quiet place. The nearest subway station is Sadang station to which you can go by bus or by walking. Sadang station connects Lines number 2 and 4. Line number 2 takes you to the palaces, gangnam and Lotte world. Line number 4 takes you to the shopping areas Dongdaemun and Namdaemun, Seoul station, City hall station, Seoul tower and the museums. Within 100m is Bang Bae bus stop where the bus to Everland passes by. So the location really is very convenient for travellers like me who did not book tours but explored the city by subway.
The house. Very secured, clean and with spacious room and bathroom. There was heater both in the bathroom and in my bed. Korean-style breakfast was provided. Wifi is fast and reliable as well.
The hosts. Mr. and Mrs. Shin were very kind people. Upon my arrival, Mr. Shin gave me a short introduction about Seoul and helped with my itinerary. He would help me book tickets or tours if needed and took me to the subway station with his car on my first day. They can also speak english well.
Overall this is a very nice home to stay at.
All in all: Exceptional stay!
Seung-Hee sent us a detailed description how to get to her house in advance. During our stay, she prepared us meals and washed our clothes. If we had to go somewhere, her husband would help us and would drive us to the next bus- or subway station.
Her house is in really quite area. The beds were comfortable. Everything was clean and neat.
Anytime again :)
As a Westerner arriving in Seoul after a 22 hour flight, I was expecting to not feel too great and experience a combination of jet lag and culture shock. In the 32 degree heat, all I wanted was a bed and some home comfort.
This is exactly what is offered by the wonderful couple who hosted us. Their home is beautiful, offering all the comforts and conveniences you could want. The room is clean, the bed comfortable and the food provided excellent. But what really made the stay was the couple hosting us - not only did they provide us an excellent introduction to Seoul, they personally toured us around the neighbourhood, took us to the supermarket, introduced us to local events and even helped us move into our long-term apartment in Seoul.
The location is a 10 minute walk (or 2 minute bus ride, costing $0.50) to a major subway station that will connect you to the rest of Seoul. The area itself is very quiet, but has excellent restaurants, coffee shops, 24 hour supermarkets and great walking routes in the vicinity.
The host speaks excellent English and has an in-depth knowledge of Seoul, so whether you're travelling, studying in or moving to Seoul, you will get a good, informed start to your time in Seoul.
Thank you so much Mr. and Mrs. Seung-Hee Shin - we really appreciate you making this transition to life in Korea so pleasant and enjoyable for us.
