If you are looking for somewhere quirky and creative, look no further!
We are in Ulverston, in the gorgeous Lake District. Ulverston is famed for having lots of festivals and more pubs than we can count, many of them have live music. Lots of places to eat within five minutes walk.
Guests will be staying in the downstairs music room which is a cosy space with a double futon. You can help yourselves to tea and coffee in our lovely natural wood kitchen and share our memorable bathroom.
We are very friendly and happy to point out some of our favourite places in town. Fran is an artist and there are many colourful touches in our home, including our amazing mosaic bathroom,Matt is a musician and professional transcriber.
The delights of the Lakes are about 20 minutes drive, with the sea being only 10 minutes away.
We are widely travelled ourselves and know how important a friendly face and a 'home from home' can be.
Here's what some guests have said.
'We just wanted to say thank you for the opportunity for staying in your beautiful home, we loved it and love the area too.'
'What a fabulous home! We booked because of the colour and quirkiness and we weren't disappointed.'
'Thank you for a wonderful stay in your fantastic house!."
Just respect please!
Me and my boyfriend had an absolutely wonderful stay with Fran and Matt in there beautiful home. Ulverston is great, with loads of quirky shops, cafes and pubs so there was loads to do.
We took a walk up to the Hoad Hill monument which has some lovely views, and just enjoyed wandering around all the charity shops and boutiques throughout the day time.
The house was great, with the bonkers bath/shower that's even more crazy than the photos, which I have told everyone about since! We had a really warm welcome and a lovely room that completely made our stay in ulverston extra special. I highly recommend staying here :)
We had a lovely time staying with Fran and Matt. Cannot describe how special this house is, it is a truly beautiful place. The room available is set up in such a way that it is easy enough to have your own space in the house, but the hosts are very friendly and gave us advice and information about local attractions. The town of Ulverston is really lovely too- a real find. Seafood meals at the nearby Fisherman's Arms are something special.
Lovely house, lovely people! Fran and Matt made me feel very welcome. I love how they've transformed the house. And sitting eating toast, drinking tea and listening to Matt practice his guitar was a lovely way to spend Sunday morning :-). Thank you both!
We had a lovely stay at Fran's place in Ulverston. The house was in a great location, very comfortable and inspiring in it's whimsical artwork. Fran gave us advice as to what walks were best for our day in the Lakes District, and I would definitely recommend staying in The Purple House.
I was welcomed in and given a cup of tea and shown my room. The room and house were spotlessly clean and the shower pictured on the left was a work of Art. The house was exactly where I wanted to be which is why I chose it. As I had travelled up by train, I needed to be in walking distance from the town centre, and also able to go for a walk up to the Hoad Monument.
We stayed 2 nights at Fran's house and we were made to feel very welcome. The house is in a fantastic location in the centre of Ulverston and we recommend it for anyone planning to stay in the area. Thanks for letting us stay.
We are a professional creative couple who live in the beautiful Lake District. We enjoy walking, the arts and looking after animals. We're aged 48 and 51
We are friendly and hospitable, we've traveled widely and know how friendly face can make such a difference to your journey.
Fran is into all things creative (maybe your visit will coincide with one of her creative workshops!) and has lovingly adorned the house with colourful mosaics. Matt is avery accomplished guitarist and is passionately in love with his new guitar 'Ruby'.
