Serendipity House in Josiah’s Bay has been a guesthouse for over twenty years. This affordable, budget vacation home is only steps away from a Sunday brunch hot-spot Tamarind Club, we are also 4 minutes by car or less then 20 minutes walking to Josiah’s Bay. During winter months it’s more of a surfing beach however good fun, sunbathing and lunch from Grapetree Beach Bar are available throughout the year.
Road Town with all the shops, bars and restaurants is only fifteen minutes away by car.
We are an affordable, four unit guesthouse surrounding the pool and in the middle of a lush tropical garden. Four units are Upper Villa, Lower Villa, Poolside Pad and Studio Apartment. The entire house is equipped with cable TV and WIFI.
Upper Villa is a two bedroom, two bathroom apartment, ideal for families or two couples vacationing together. Outdoor dining for six is framed with lush gardens and stunning views of Josiah’s Bay. Amenities include all linen and towels, full kitchen, cable TV, outdoor gas barbecue, pool chairs, beach chairs, cooler, iron, ironing board, spare folding bed, etc.
Should you wish and availability allows you may rent more then one unit i.e. Upper Villa, Lower Villa and Poolside Pad. This would sleep up to 10 people.
Excellent place for our short stay on Tortola! Alex was a wonderful host. We were provided with all the necessities. The place was clean and relatively easy to access with a rental car. Beautiful views and very close to the lovely Josiah bay beach!
Alex was very warm and welcoming on our arrival. The villa was really nice. The balcony was where we spent most of our time and the view is fantastic. Bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchen were fine. The wifi dropped in and out unfortunately. There are also many mosquitos so pack your repellant. Highly recommend this villa.
Excellent place with clean rooms. Close enough to the beach and close to an excellent restaurant for dinner in case you are too lazy to cook. The terrace in front of the villa is huge with spectacular views onto the Atlantic. The bath room have a little bit of mildew, but that is common in the tropical climate. Even the Hilton Hotel had this. The host is great, answered any requests per email within a few hours and was available by phone. I recommend this place to anyone and would go back anytime myself.
I recommend to rent a car as the walk back from the beach is uphill and takes about 30 minutes (with a car about 4 minutes). The beach is incredible and not very much frequented. There are two beach restaurants and a surf school.
Sayula and the Upper Villa at Serendipity House were both wonderful! The villa was very spacious and accommodated our travelers perfectly, in comfortable and simple Carib style. We used the kitchen only for cold beverages & snacks, plus morning coffee: Tamarind Club provided fabulous meals, plus a beautiful pool. The Serendipity pool was a refreshing bonus and Josiah's Bay beach less than a mile away, with a li'l bar/restaurant, beach chairs/surf/wave boards (and lessons) for rent, and soft sand for strolling ... Keep in mind: it's very walkable, but all downhill to get there & uphill to return. Bring a cold water along and know that ONLY the Tamarind/Villa driveway is really steep!
For island first-timers: IF you mind the calls of peacocks, roosters, other birds, dogs, cows & donkeys, be sure to bring earplugs, as they keep odd hours :) If you long to sleep outside, be sure to pack bug spray, as the local no-see-ums do come out at night and love to bite.
Enjoy gorgeous views from this hidden gem of Tortola ... and learn everything you can think of asking re local offerings from Sayula ... the loveliest gem of all!
What a beautiful place! The apartment was gorgeous and a few mins from The Tamarind Club which was a wonderful little spot to grab drinks and entertainment. The host was amazingly helpful and helped us settle in well. I would highly recommend this place.
Sayula was incredibly helpful! We were unable to secure a rental car before we arrived, and she went well out of her way to make sure we were able to find one (Word to the wise: if you plan on coming to Tortola, book a rental car as far in advance as possible).
The property is right next to the Tamarind Club which is AMAZING, and has a great menu. Serendipity House is also very close to Josiah's Bay (just take a left at the end of the driveway) which is a wonderful beach that depending on the day, has really good waves for surfing/body boarding, or can be very calm and glassy.
We had a wonderful time visiting Tortola, and will hopefully come back soon!
A perfect slice of paradise. I cannot find fault with Sayulas' place and Sayula as a host. This is great whatever your group size - all of the apartments looked wonderful. Sitting on the balcony taking in the view, a wander to a fabulous beach just 10 mins walk. The beach hosts a simple beach shack offering great local food and carribean cocktails or beers. You can learn to surf at the surf school - this is not a commercial beach but a hidden gem! Back for showers and more daydreaming then to top it all a great restaurant 2 minutes away. We stayed without a car which meant a $30 taxi from the airport, the same to roadtown but we came for peace and tranquility and that is what we got - thank you Sayula!!!
