A well-appointed small house in the center of the historic Hillsdale town district. Close to many area attractions in New York, Massachusetts, and even Connecticut.
A beautiful, modest, and well-appointed getaway in New York's Columbia County, adjacent to the Berkshires and the Hudson Valley.
The house is a small "eyebrow colonial" (the earliest parts built in 1807), with 800 square feet over two floors. There is a comfortable, brand-new pull-out sofa, and a lofted bedroom. The bathroom has been recently remodeled and the sit-down shower is a dream. It has a full kitchen, and a separate small 3 season dining room. It has all of the accommodations of a house, but with the feel of a cozy country cabin.
Perfect for people who like nature with many state parks within 5-10 miles, and outdoor activities, but also for those who might like to catch a movie at the local triplex, or enjoy a nice meal at one of the well-regarded upstate/Berkshire restaurants...or both. The house is right on a main road, which makes it easy for trips to nature or culture.
The house is centrally located, and easy to find. Very close to the center of town, with the Crossroads restaurant, grocery store, etc. Also in Hillsdale is our personal favorite, Rodger's Book Barn, which, for self-respecting bibliophiles and casual readers alike, is simply not to be missed.
Hawthorne Valley Farm and Farm Store are about 15 minutes north of the house, with other farms and farm stands all around. The quaint and welcoming town of Great Barrington is also just down the road a piece.

The house is not appropriate for small children (see pictures of sleeping loft), but would work for an infant. If you have pets or kids, we recommend our lovely neighbor, 7 Willows B&B https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/309567

Fantastic home in a beautiful part of New York State. Hope to stay again sometime!
We couldn't have asked for anything more from Sara & Kyle's sweet and impeccably decorated home in Hillsdale. The location is just minutes from the town of Hillsdale and conveniently located to get to Chatham, Great Barrington and other surrounding towns and sights. If anything, the photos can't do justice to the character inside this cozy retreat. Upon arrival, Sara was there to greet us with freshly brewed coffee and local treats. They were prompt and easy to communicate with and we will definitely return next time we're in the area. We were sad to leave! 5 stars!
We really enjoyed our stay at Sara and Kyle's charming home in Hillsdale. Everything was clean, well-kempt, and as it appeared in the photos. Sara and Kyle were very responsive before our trip; during our actual stay, they were out of town, but we were still able to get quick answers from their very capable friend Jonney, whom they left in charge as house liaison. The location does not feel isolated (we could sometimes hear neighbors talking next door, and the house is right off the road), but it was still easy to relax. We enjoyed playing Trivial Pursuit and watching Netflix and using the cute little notebook grill at the house.
Sara and Kyle were well-organized and respectful of our time in setting up the visit. They also communicated very well throughout our stay. Their cozy home is a fantastic place for a getaway, especially for a couple. It is located in a quaint town with a few good shops and cafes, and is just a few miles from GB and skiing. The home is very clean and a perfect spot for a getaway!
We had a great time up at Sara & Kyle's place and will definitely be returning! It was just what we needed - a weekend getaway from the hustle and bustle of NYC. Their home is cozy, well appointed, and truly perfect for a retreat. We felt the stress melt away within minutes of stepping through the door. Has everything you could need - we cooked and stayed in all weekend, read, listened to their awesome record collection, watched movies... The bedroom is up in a cozy but spacious loft; renovated bathroom with great shower; kitchen has all you need. Hillsdale, the village center, is just up the road with a market, wine shop, general store and a restaurant. Kyle was incredibly friendly, helpful and accommodating. Highly recommend!!
Fabulously cozy cabin with all the modern amenities. Our family could not have been more comfortable throughout! And we will definitely be back soon.
Sara was phenomenally accommodating, and even drove up from Brooklyn to make sure that everything was OK. She went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure that everything was perfect. And even bought us coffee!
Many thanks again for everything,
