About this listing
A lovely, secluded double bedroom with a new, fresh, white en suite bathroom, small private patio and own front door. Centrally located with the added advantage of parking and a delicious breakfast.
We are offering a freshly painted en suite double bedroom with a small private patio and own street entrance in our centrally located Grade 2 listed Regency house. Our house used to be a theatrical boarding house and the cast of the 1947 film BRIGHTON ROCK, including Richard Attenborough, who played Pinkie, lodged here. The house is only 12 mins walk from Brighton station, close to all restaurants and nightlife and only 2 mins walk from the sea. Our knowledge of the area is extensive, my husband was born here. Breakfast is included, either bacon and eggs or Continental including homemade granola and marmalade. We would prefer two night bookings at the weekend but to make it feasible to accept single night bookings we do, reluctantly, charge a £10 cleaning fee, a small amount when spread over a few days.
The bedlinen is pure Egyptian cotton, towels and Wi Fi are provided, as well as your own set of keys to your door. Parking is difficult in central Brighton, but we may have a free space for your car or day long parking vouchers for £3.00 a day. You will be welcomed by a lovely gentle whippet lurcher, oh, and by us.
Our guests have their own front door and en suite bathroom. We don't provide tea/coffee making in the bedroom but encourage you to use our kitchen if you would like a tea or coffee during the day.
Interaction with Guests
Both Orlando and I work at home and enjoy leisurely breakfasts and are happy to answer any queries during the day.
Brighton is a vibrant, exciting small city full of restaurants, great pubs, quirky shops, excellent culture (comedy and music especially good) and of course the beach. Equally the Downs, for dramatic views and wonderful walks are only 10 minutes drive away.
Our house is very central, one minute from the main shopping street and two minutes to the beach. There is no need for a car, everything of interest is within 15 minutes walk.
A gem of a find in Brighton. Great location. Ensuite double room perfect and cosy. Own front door! Joanna and Orlando unfortunately weren't there but Sarah their neighbour let us in and showed us around. Joanna had left breakfast for us and a comprehensive note about what to do. Having a parka space was a real bonus. Sarah was on hand in case of an emergency and Joanna text to make sure we had settled in ok. For us this was a perfect base to walk to everything in Brighton. Would definitely recommend and would stay again. Thank you Joanna for trusting us in your home
wonderful house and amazing hosts :)
we felt very comfortable during our stay at joanna&orlando's home and they even prepared a delicious breakfast every morning. when you come to brighton, go to them!
thank you joanna, thanks orlando - very nice to meet you :)
Beautiful, huge house in a very quiet area of Brighton in close proximity to the beach. The room is very spacious, with ensuite, comfy bed, own entrance and an outside patio. Joanna and Orlando provide some very useful information about Brighton and are very easy going, welcoming hosts. Would definitely recommend!
My husband and I stayed for two nights in July 2015. Joanna and Orlando were great hosts - very relaxed and lovely company during breakfast. Their home is beautiful and the room is private with its own front door. Parking in Brighton is notoriously tricky and expensive, but Joanna and Orlando had a private car park space that we were able to use for free for two days! We would definitely stay here again. Many thanks to Joanna and Orlando for their hospitality.
Loved our visit with Joanna and Orlando, they are both very friendly and made us feel very welcome! They are great hosts and we would have liked to have stayed longer. The room is private and very comfortable. Thanks Joanna,
My daughter has just completed two years of study in Brighton, and it is ironic that after various indifferent and expensive hotels I have finally found somewhere I would stay again. In the end it's all about whether you can sleep, and in the comfortable bed in the quiet room in Joanna and Orlando's house I slept wonderfully.
Joanna and Orlando were welcoming, friendly and enjoyable company. Breakfast was simple but excellent, and I lingered over it longer that I had intended to enjoy the conversation.
Better still, an off-road parking space was included! I did not even know that such a thing existed for less than £20 per night in Brighton.
Joanna and Orlando have been absolutely wanderful hosts and very interesting people.
This has also reflected on their inviting and beautiful home within minutes of the beach and all amenities that Brighton offers.
Our room was thoughtfully prepered to cater for all of our needs which included a specious en-suite showeroom. Breakfast was also prepered just the way we like it including home made granola ( the best we've ever had).
The kitchen which seems to be the main hub of the house, was a joy to sit down with our hosts and have brief yet interesting conversations.
Prior to our visit Joanna took the time to write a very detailed guide on places to eat and interesting places to visit.
They certanly know how to make you feel at home. Thank you both for being a part of our surprize birthday weekend!
