Hampus and Maggie
this was my very first airbnb experience and i must say, i had a real good time. the place if very comfortable, the room is very nice, the independent entrance makes it easy for you to get in/out without bothering the hosts, and the location is very good: wicker park is a cool neighborhood and the subway is 5 mins walking distance. hampus is a really nice guy, he gave me some useful tips to get around in the city, and we had some very pleasant chats over coffee in the morning. so overall, congrats to hampus&maggie: they're doing a great job. next time i pass by chicago i'll book again this room for sure.
Our stay at Hampus and Maggie's was also our first airbnb experience, and it was excellent! We were in Chicago during some of the coldest days of the winter in years, but our room was always warm and cozy. Great location, easy access parking spot (huge plus in Chicago), and a nice homemade guidebook of restaurants and such was very helpful. The private entrance was great as well.
Our stay at Hampus & Maggie's place was sheer loveliness! The room was spotless and in an utterly ideal location. They provided a list of recommended spots nearby which, as a first-timer to Chicago, was extremely helpful. Also, we were traveling by car with valuable instruments and vintage hats, so the off-street parking was a huge bonus. I hope to find myself in that city again, and when I do, Maggie & Hampus' place tops the list!
Hampus was extremely kind and more than helpful. Without asking he helped to arrange reservations and offer advice. While I unfortunately didn't have much experience speaking to Maggie as she was ill at the time she was also very polite and kind in our brief passing. Hampus is a great guy and I recommend getting the chance to know him if you're passing through Chicago.
Hampus and Maggie were incredible hosts! It was in the middle of a snow storm when we got in and they had a fire going and were making tea for us. We had wonderful conversation with them, and truly enjoyed our stay. I wish we could have stayed longer!! Even though we had to leave at 4 AM to catch an early flight Hampus and Maggie still put out breakfast for us. Incomparable to any other airbnb stay I've ever had. Absolutely pleasant experience, I hope to be back soon!
We had a wonderful stay with Hampus and Maggie. Unfortunately we didn't get to meet Maggie, but we really enjoyed visiting with Hampus. The room was very nice and comfortable. They are very conscientious about the temperature, food preferences, and overall comfort of their guests. We were very impressed with the attention to detail. There were some nice things in the room including: maps, an umbrella, a wine bottle opener, an ironing board, toiletries, and tea in the room. Overall we had a very pleasant experience and would definitely recommend this place to all travelers.
Thank you for your wonderful comment regarding your stay! I am sorry that we didn't have a chance to meet (Maggie here). I had to run some errands on the day before New Years Eve. I am happy to hear that Hampus took a great care of both of you. We wish you a very happy 2014! Come back anytime!
I was grateful for a warm and toasty room on a very cold winter night. Hampus & Maggie are attentive to the smallest detail with the amenities of the room and for breakfast. Check out is earlier than most places I've stayed - 11am for days they have other guests coming in. However, my hosts were very gracious to accommodate other requests.
The room is a little tight, but quite cozy, and there is a nice walk-in closet to store your things. Though close to the expressway, the room was very quiet. It was great having private access to the room from the back door and a parking spot in back.
For those not in shape, the long trip to the third floor may difficult.
Overall, a very good value for Chicago! And a good place to stay.
Thanks Hampus & Maggie!
I booked my stay with Maggie and Hampus after reviewing several Chicago postings as a gift for my boyfriend's birthday. I'd heard many great things about Chitown and was looking to stay outside of the main core or Loop area. Wicker Park was a great fit for us as it offered fantastic vintage shopping, great food, and is close enough to the Blue line to check out the city attractions. We arrived early on our first day, and Hampus was nice enough to let us drop our bags off on short notice as we explored the neighbourhood. Once we got our bearings, we enjoyed our Master Suite which included a lovely desk and full-size bed, full bathroom, and a huge walk-in closet. If it hadn't been for the Winter season we would've taken full advantage of our private deck, but it was still nice to have this addition.
It's really the little details that go a long way, and that's what we appreciated most with Maggie and Hampus. Not only was the Master Suite pristine and decorated perfectly, but the couple included a broad range of travel brochures and magazines of the city. More importantly, they took the time to leave us a list of their suggested places in the area. Every morning we were greeted with a selection of bagels, spreads, teas and coffee. The cherry on top of this all was the surprise of delicious cupcakes Maggie had selected form a local bakery and left for us with when we arrived home from the Redhead Piano bar at 1am.
I highly recommend staying with Maggie and Hampus, and as we mentioned in our goodbye: Should you two ever be in Toronto please look us up! We'd love to show you around :) (email hidden)
