Nestled among the redwoods of Cazadero, Elim Cottage is located in the oasis of Elim Grove, on the grounds of the award-winning Raymond's Bakery – the perfect place to unwind and enjoy Sonoma County.
We enjoy providing a warm, appetizing atmosphere in this undiscovered woodland paradise along tranquil Austin Creek, only 20 minutes from Guerneville, Russian River wineries, or the Pacific Ocean.
Creekside Cottage sleeps 2 in an crisp, light wood interior with stylish furnishings and a queen bed. It also features a cozy sitting room as well as a small garden view room with a daybed (with trundle), a propane wood stove, a microwave & fridge, and a private bathroom with shower.
The cottage is only a stone's throw from Austin Creek and a few minute walk up the creek to a swimming hole. Wake up to the bubbling of the creek, take a plunge, enjoy strolls along nearby trails, play bocce, relax under the gazebo and nap in the garden room or under the Gravenstein apple tree. Share a romantic evening in front of the propane wood stove or by the campfire.
Our bakery is open Friday through Sunday with local musicians playing on Friday evenings for our Community Pizza, Beer & Wine Night. We do close the bakery from early December through mid January to give our awesome staff a break for the holidays. However, the B&B is always open and breakfast is included for each morning of your stay. We bake fresh pastries and goodies every morning for our guests.
Please note that Creekside Cottage can sleep up to 4 people including the twin daybed with lower trundle. There is a $20 per night charge for each additional person beyond double occupancy. Children 4 and under are free.
For larger groups of up to 17 persons, book Elim Grove Cottage together with Gravenstein Cottage, Paradise Grove Cottage, Creekside Cottage and Baker's Loft - all located on the grounds near the bakery.
"We stayed a few nights with Mark and Elizabeth, and all I can say is they are the best hosts ever. . .Our daughter loved the little playground next to the bakery, it was also a plus that Mark offered a stroller which we forgot at home. Every morning a hot breakfast was provided and it was delicious!"

Staying at Elim Grove Cottages was such a great experience. Even though we were there for 2 nights, it was so relaxing that it felt like a week-long vacation. It is in a beautiful location in the middle of the Russian River forest, the cottage itself is very cozy, and we were only 15 minutes from Guerneville, which is full of restaurants and cool shops.
Mark is such a generous host and makes you feel right at home. He wakes up early to bake some amazing pastries.
I'm excited to head back soon, and will definitely promote this to my friends and family. Great place for family reunions or just a weekend getaway.
Mark was an excellent host. We were greeted with yummy treats and he even let us watch as he expertly prepared bread. Awesome! The place is on such a peaceful creek and in a wonderful area. We loved the redwoods, the wineries, and the bread.
The cottage is the cutest place we've stayed in a long time. We had a 3yr old little girl and she loved sleeping in the forest. Mark and Elizabeth were great hosts and we are looking forward to coming back during warmer months. The morning breakfast with pastries were a total treat. This is a great place for family with small kids. Adorable place all around.
THANK YOU Mark & Elizabeth for having us!
Unfortunately my husband and I were not able to make our trip because of a nasty storm. Roads closed, streets flooded, and power out. Thankfully Mark was quick to contact me to explain the situation at his cottage and gave me options. He was very professional and quick to communicate and we appreciate that.
We were disappointed that we were not able to make the trip and look forward to booking the cottage agin very soon. It looks like the perfect getaway.
I really and truly enjoyed my stay at Raymond's Bakery. Here are reasons why:
1) Kitties are allowed in your room: Mark has two, truly chill and/or cuddly black kitties who will wander into your room if you let them, and it's OK with everyone that they are there (we double-checked, just in case). I'm sure if you don't want them there, that is also an option. But it was so fun for me to hang with them.
2) Bread: I am a bread lover, and I really enjoyed their baguette, their pumpernickel (it has caffeine in it!), their semolina raisin, and their sunflower bran. Yes, I ate all those things. You get a ton of pastries or bread for complimentary breakfast, as well as a boiled egg and low-fat, fruity organic yogurt and a coffee drink. I added a few of my own things on the sly (cheese, avocado, etc.) to my breakfast, because I like those other things with my bread. But I also really enjoyed what they provided. The bread is fresh-baked that day, a real treat.
3) Friday Music: They have Pizza, Beer, and Live Music night every Friday, and the local band was awesome. I was able to go to my room for a break and come back to watch them finish their set.
4) Proximity to Redwoods: I must sound like I've never been anywhere in California, the way I'm going on and on. But redwoods are just really beautiful. Raymond's is a quick drive to some easily accessible woods, and you can go on a longer, steeper hike or a short little stroll through some giant trees.
5) Finally, the staff at the bakery are just really friendly and helpful. It was fun to chat and get directions and to just be there in general.
This review is not for Creekside Cottage, actually, but for staying at Raymond's Bakery in general. There was an accidental double-booking, and we ended up staying in the Baker's Loft instead, as the other people had arrived first and Mark happened to be away for the first part of the weekend. When Mark returned, however, he checked in with us and made things right.
The Baker's Loft is a cute little studio, with a sweet rocking chair, books, games, mini-fridge, microwave, hot water pot, mugs, a love-seat couch, and attached bathroom with shower. It's also right above the bakery, which is fun. There is some noise that filters through from other cottages at night, and the bed has a little squeak to it. But the noise isn't raucous or constant, and the bed is warm and cozy and comfortable, and the flannel-y sheets they put on it made me feel wrapped up and warm.
All in all, this really was one of my favorite local get-aways, one of the nicest I've had in a long time. If it's in my relaxing-time stars, I'd definitely go back again!
This is a great place to go for a private getaway that is close to the oceans and the woods!
Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to meet Mark in person, but his staff took excellent care of us. Creekside Cottage is a perfect getaway, set among towering pines, and steps away from a creek. We went down to the riverbed one evening to check out the stars -- the most I've seen in years, that's just how secluded and quiet the setting. The breakfast provided by the bakery out front was also the best I've had yet -- fresh, homemade pastries, organic yogurt, organic coffee. It was a delight to relax in the cottage and enjoy our morning feast. Highly recommend for anyone checking out Russian River!

Twelve years ago my wife and I fell in love with an abandoned restaurant with four tired cottages on three acres of wild blackberries and old growth redwoods on Austin Creek. It has been an exhausting/exhilarating labor of love that has enriched our lives in more ways than we ever imagined. We hope that you will enjoy it as much as we have!
